Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power

I love the series and wanted to like this so bad, but it just wasn’t possible… I played the game first when it was released to early access, then when it was officially released, and returned now to play through the whole series after Trine 5. Save yourself the disappointment and just skip this one. It is absolutely the worst game of the series. At first it seemed like they were creating a new masterpiece, but ended up running out of funds somewhere along the way. The game ends really anticlimactically, and the story leaves you disappointed. Completing the game (with all extra levels included) takes about 5 hours and there is little to no replay value. It’s easily the shortest game of the series, and the ending makes you feel that there should have been still *at least* half of the game left at that point. Also what is this nonsense of Zoya asking Amadeus “What are the 3 artifacts of power?” and he answered that “I know as much as any wizard.” - When all three heroes researched them in the first game and reunited the 3 at the end? Did they all hit their heads and forget what happened just a few years back? Controls are buggy and feel uncomfortable. Failing to make a jump, placing an object, or just walking off an edge happens way too often due the awkward camera angles. The camera also wobbles and zooms in and out sometimes, and can trigger motion sickness. There are a lot of small bugs that could have been easily fixed (eg. text not showing correctly in chapter selection). Seems that they just abandoned ship at some point. The humour was often dry and creating a whole level based on the “cake is a lie” (an 8 year old joke at the time) felt excessive then, and even so now.
