A delightful little game I picked up in a bundle ages ago, Treasure Adventure World is a fun little experience that has an intriguing setting and is an overall blast. Platforming can be a little finicky on keyboard, but honestly if you have the cash to spare and want to have three days of fun, I highly recommend this game.
Had a lot of fun with this metroidvania-esque game. Positives: There's a lot to explore, find and collect. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too. Negatives: Encountered a few bugs, mostly while fighting bosses. But none of them were game breaking.

I'll be going over the following: I. Controls II. Boss fights III. Bugs I've encountered IV. Beginning of the game issue V. Inventory Issue VI. Exploration Issue VII. Detector Issue VIII. Music IX. The Angler X. Closing Thoughts ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Controls¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The controls for the game can be a tad weird as it uses the arrow keys as the default controls. However, it's not that hard to get used to them, and can change it to the wasd preset any time. Grabbing vines, chains, and ledges are automatic, so it can occasionally feel tedious at times. It's not something to get up though as you'll eventually learn how to master it. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Boss Fights¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The boss fights I've always found to be rather confusing at first. I was just constantly flailing around until either 1.) I figure it out, or 2.) I die only for Waydah to give me an obvious hint on what to do. The fights might take a couple of tries, but for the most part each one is not too difficult to defeat and each fight is unique to it's island. Also, HELL YEAH BOSS FIGHT MUSIC GUUUUUD! ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Bugs I've Encountered¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The one big thing regarding bugs and issues would be what I dub "The ground textures of death." After playing a session for almost 3-4 hours, the game with have issues loading in textures as the game will add in the ground texture for both the background and occasionally the foreground. 20 minutes later the game crashes. It's not horrendous, however, as soon as the game loads, I'm back right where I was when it crashed, so it's not a big of a deal. This seemed to occur when I use the fast travel frequently. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Beginning of Game Issue¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The story and pacing of the game can be slow at the beginning, but really it's not bad to deal with. All that it really is in the beginning is an exposition up into you being able to fully explore the world. Hell, it's the reason people with less than an hour of playtime give it bad reviews. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Inventory Issue¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The inventory system while being clean, it's overlapped with the map screen. As in you can interact with certain items on the map while you are on another inventory screen. This can be a nuance as you hear the repetitive popping noise as you "hover" over the marker location, despite you being on another screen. It's not gamebreaking, but it is annoying to deal with. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Exploration Issue¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Exploration in this game can feel great. However, as some would suggest, it takes "explore everything" a little too seriously. Some items can quite difficult to obtain as it's somewhat tedious to explore every nook and cranny. It doesn't bother me too much, as I've grown up playing these type of every rock unturned games. However, the Treasure Detector is probably my biggest issue with the game. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Treasure Detector Issue¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ The Treasure Detector is an item that (as the name suggests) detects treasure chest with a pulse. One of the bigger problems with it is the issue of the item lacking bookmarked tracking. You cannot set a certain item to track, so it can just randomly track a Nav Pearl you have and will keep pestering you within that area until you either leave or grab the item. Even more, there are certain treasures that are close to one another, so the detector will detect one treasure over another if you're too close. This combined with the extreme exploration mechanics caused me to struggle getting the cannon for almost 3 hours. It would be really nice if you are allowed to specifically track one NavPearl that you want to get. In the meantime, have fun getting somewhat annoyed over it. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Music¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ IZ GUD. das it ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯The Angler¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Fear him. ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯Closing Thoughts¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ I would give it a 4/5 if I could. It has some issues, but for the most part the game is great. Numerous times where I would just couldn't handle how the game puts in a few themes and I just sit there dying laughing for several seconds (Mushroom Land was wack). Really hope I can find more games like this in the future, as they've always had a special place in my heart. And ♥♥♥♥ James. He's a jerk.
Pretty solid metroidvania adventure/RPG. You collect McGuffins and tools much like LoZ games, but with side-scrolling platformer action. It's more open-world, in that many tasks can be done in no particular order, and some of them are MUCH easier if you have the right tool but still possible without it. It has multiple different endings depending on a couple things you do or don't do before tackling the final boss. Pros: - Protagonist's gender is ambiguous, so most anyone can identify with them - Protagonist turns a physical handicap into an advantage - Plenty of content - Open world, no fixed order for most events - Platforming physics are good (though not fantastic) - Some good unexpected plot twists Cons - Some platforming sections are really difficult and show the platforming physics aren't the best. Missing a jump near the end can often mean starting the whole segment over. - Obvious magic mushroom "drug" use is inconsistent with an otherwise kid-friendly game - Mother-forking piranhas right next to the first island. Even with endgame equipment they're still a pain in the rear. - Minimal replay value. No new endings or content in New Game +.
Win 10, виснет и вылетает на любой чих, даже новую игру не смог начать. Ничего гениальнее включения game mode предложить не могут.
this game has no flow to it. you just wander around not knowing what the hell to do or where to go.
Decent! The levels get... obtuse, very quickly, though. Expect to use a walkthrough, and expect to have to follow it closely, because the game's more than happy to let you assume a dungeon is unsolvable, and get equally stuck in 3 more, before you wander back and go "oh... it wanted the apple 3 screens away? uh. ok." You'll be platforming along and then run face-first into an obscure adventure game puzzle. When you're not hitting those moments, though, it's SUPER charming, and really fun. Just. I think this is the kinda game you probably just walkthrough. Also, you'll struggle to find that, until you remember the game was originally a free release called Treasure Adventure Game (looked a LOT different). Walkthroughs for that exist, which mostly apply to this game: https://jayisgames.com/review/treasure-adventure-game.php ... I don't mean to sound overly negative, it really is fun. Just. I'm stuck in 3 dungeons now, and I don't have a clue which ones I'm missing an upgrade for, and which ones just have some obtuse solution I'm missing. But even then, I got nearly 6 hours of fun out of it, so, hey, whatevs!
the game is a little less actiony than i wanted . but it is still good and entertaining. the animations are cute. the lead character is likable . it was worth the sale price for sure.
