Reviews
It's got insanely technically competent pixel art, but the work overall rings extremely hollow. I can only really praise the beauty of its visuals in a vacuum, as much of the overall art direction feels similarly devoid of substance- the game reads kinda like an artstation portfolio piece rather than a properly built world, but that might be overly harsh. At any rate, what is left is an extremely underdeveloped game full of going from place to place talking to underdeveloped characters before the developers apparently just ran out of steam and the game suddenly ends in what feels somewhat like the second act. It feels like a skinwalker trying to be a mix between Zelda and Undertale, but forgot the part where those are video games.
I do not like Owlboy. It has a heavy emphasis on art style and charm, and I think to some degree it executes its presentation successfully, but I think that gameplay and pacing suffer as result. I did not find the gameplay to be fun at all. Moving throughout the areas isn't particularly special, and the puzzles included in the game don't feel interesting at all and amount to little more than filler, or gameplay for the sake of gameplay. The game structure consists of a lot of talking to people and being told to go to an objective, then talking some more, going to another objective, and so on. This didn't really change during my time with the game, and I realized there wasn't a single aspect of the game I was enjoying. The art style is nice, but the story and characters are pretty boring, so that doesn't make time spent with the game worthwhile to me.

Every market we collect.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

-Przepiękny i dopracowany pixel-art.
I really like this game. I enjoy the characters, the visuals, the music, the world. Why can't I recommend it? The boss fights. They can get so obnoxious that they almost ruin the game for me.
Ever since I saw the video of Dunkey playing this game at EVO like +10y ago and being full of praise about it, I wanted to play and experience it. Storywise it was confusing at some points and the ending was... something, indeed. But you can feel the love that was poured into this game, for sure. Dunkey didn't lie. Can only recommend.
feels like a game made by artists and not game devs and that inconvenience got mistaken for difficulty or engaging gameplay. so much of this game is a chore, and on a a gameplay level is was not rewarding at all to me. combat feels utterly miserable and finnicky, with later bosses being so absurdly fast it feels like your capabilities aren't taken into account when it comes to handling them, the final boss being the only one in the game that was actually pretty decent. the plot and worldbuilding feels like it wants to be so much deeper than it is, with very little given time to feel like establishing a setting and just haphazardly throwing details at you then swiftly moving on. the game ends on a message of
you shouldn't care as much about how things end, rather, the moments that make up your life are what make it worth living that ends up falling flat because of how shallow nearly every character feels. the game tries to develop a relationship between several characters, the most blatantly poorly considered was between alphonse and dirk where during their boss fight the game acts like they were super close but you get to be privy to none of it so it rings utterly hollow.
the only consistently enjoyable part of the game is the art, which is rarely less than stunning, the detail on backgrounds and terrain objects, to small animations of characters and the sickeningly high FPS on the hidden owl coins basically, just play iconoclasts instead
Simplesmente sensacional!
it's like a 6/10 for me. i really enjoyed the music, the art, and the vibes. for games that just let you chill and enjoy their worlds, this is a win. where it's not as fun is just in the fact that the story and mechanics don't run very deep. it's gonna feel "samey" most of the game, though the environments do change significantly. and then the only actively negative things were just a few little bugs with screws (just keep spinning on them 'til they work!) and trying to jump without flying (frustrating mechanic). overall, i had a nice time with it!
This game's got a fantastic visual style and clearly has a lot of heart put into it. While I enjoyed my time with it, it's got a few things holding it back in my mind. The actual gameplay is middling. Not bad per se, but not particularly interesting or memorable. The story is cute, spends a bit meandering in the middle, but loops back to being alright by the end. That said though I still had a smile on my face pretty much the entire time I played this. At the price you can find it for these days, I'd say it's well worth the afternoon or two it'll take to beat!
