Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 8.43/day in the week to Aug 15 → 5.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Shogun 2 is in my biased opinion one of the most solid games out of the Total War franchise. I have a tendency to start new campaignes, but with Shogun 2, I have completed the game with every faction on the normal difficulty. The units are responsive, the music gives a great atmospheric background and in the late game, you can actually face larger enemies or coaltions of enemies. While the unit roster is almost identical for all factions, both position and the bonuses make for different experiences in each campaign - even if it boils down to "What color do I want to paint the map, and what flags do I want to see in the battles". I have had wonderful stressful moments as Uesugi - feeling like I'm thrown into a madhouse of battle-crazed neighbours. I have glorious moments of sweeping across battle fields with the Takeda cavalary or builting up a charge starting from the North East with Date all the way down to the south. And don't forget the swarm of Oda Ashigaru! Why recruit a samurai unit, if I can have thrice the amount of Ashigaru? Even clans without specific bonus that benefit the battlefield - like the Mori - can be very fun due to the different dynamics that play out in the early game in different parts of the map. Lastly, I want to give a shout-out to the mod that adds an immense amount of provinces to the base game. It feels like you are getting Shogun 2 - Extended Version. Due to the map changes you experience different challenges in every part - the early game survival, the regional showdown and the clash of big late game factions. In Addition: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai has some of the best naval battles in all the Total War games, I have played so far. Naval battles are not always the strong suit of Total War, but these were really fun!

**👎 Not Recommended** I've been playing the Total War series since I was a kid, and I'm now an adult who's still putting hours into these games. I absolutely love the series, and I love the samurai setting, which is why this review is difficult to write. **The positives:** * The samurai theme is fantastic. Fighting with traditional samurai while firearms gradually become more important creates an awesome atmosphere. * The close-up battle animations are still some of the best in the series. Zooming in and watching individual soldiers duel each other never gets old. * Naval battles are surprisingly enjoyable. Cannons feel powerful, and bombarding coastal cities from your fleet is incredibly satisfying. * The railway system is a great mechanic. Being able to transport armies quickly across your territory adds a fun strategic element. * Co-op campaigns are excellent. Playing through an entire campaign with a friend is one of the best multiplayer experiences the Total War series has offered. * I also really like the siege mechanics, especially being able to position ranged units directly behind walls and rain arrows or bullets down on attackers. It makes defending castles feel rewarding. Unfortunately, the negatives outweigh the positives for me. The biggest issue was a battle where I had clearly defeated the enemy, but the game refused to end. I spent ages searching the entire map for what I think was a hidden ninja unit, but I couldn't find anything. Whether it was a bug or a unit hidden somewhere impossible to locate, I was eventually forced to concede defeat after winning a long, difficult battle. That completely ruined the experience, and simply reloading an earlier save isn't a satisfying solution. The campaign pacing could also be improved. On Hard difficulty, I would like to see more back-and-forth between the clans instead of one faction snowballing so quickly. In my campaign, the Obama clan had already taken over a huge portion of Japan after only a relatively short time, while nearly all of my pro-Imperial allies had already been wiped out. I don't want the game to be easier—I just want wars to feel more dynamic and competitive for longer. Performance was another disappointment. I play on a modern gaming PC with a Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB of RAM, and an RTX 5060, yet the game still struggles during large battles despite running at maximum settings. I understand the game is over a decade old, but I was surprised to experience noticeable slowdowns on hardware that far exceeds its original requirements. It made some of the biggest battles feel less enjoyable than they should have. My final complaint is multiplayer unit responsiveness. There is a noticeable delay between issuing orders and units reacting, which makes battles feel sluggish and frustrating. This has been an issue for a long time and really deserves attention. Overall, I genuinely love the setting, the battles, and many of the mechanics. There is a fantastic game here, and it's one I've wanted to love. But technical frustrations, inconsistent performance, and campaign issues repeatedly pull me out of the experience. Sadly, I can't recommend it in its current state.
