Prices
The United States storefront in every case, so this compares stores and not countries.
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Been playing this game since it came out, for thousands of hours. Even after going back to it after playing all the newest Total War games, this one is still the best. And no, it's not nostalgia. This game has so much flavor that the newer Total War games completely lack: * Many different nations, each with its own units and flavor, and they actually feel historical. * Animated videos for all agent actions. * Generals give speeches before battles in the accent of the currently selected nation. They're both funny and reflect your current situation. * No auto-replenishment for armies, and no easy way to quickly recruit huge army stacks. This means your armies matter, every battle matters, and rarely do you have or encounter an army at full strength. * Crusades & jihads that meaningfully influence the balance of power, as well as papal elections. * No technology trees. Progress is governed by building up your cities and castles, which means progress is slow and can be reversed. * Humor, but in just the right doses so it never makes the game feel silly. * Plague, which, when it arrives in force, can bring you from a seemingly untouchable position of wealth and power to absolute ruin in just a few turns, forcing you to completely rethink your economy. And I could go on. A few drawbacks: the battle AI is not great, although it never got much better in later games either. The battle camera and unit placement did improve in later titles. But overall, this is still an awesome game and the king of Total War games. I really hope CA takes notice when making Medieval 3 and doesn't just make another reskin of Rome 2. I highly recommend the Grand Campaign mod, which combines the original game with all the expansions into one huge map while keeping the game itself largely as it was.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Top Spiel mit Tiefgang!
Прекрасный Total War. Пускай ему уже как 20 лет картинка приятная,юниты хорошо отрисованны и что самое главное адекватное управление. Озвучка и музяка-это отдельный плюс в сторону игры.
Да.
This remains in my (slightly biased) opinion THE classic total war. It lacks the depth of its successors, and its graphics can date it up close, but few other TW games feel so "pure" to me. Easy to pick up and play, unit types, army composition, and progression are intuitive and fun to do. The variation between different regions encourages playing over and over again despite the relatively limited scope. Rome is the "Super Mario Bros." of Total War, the game that made them big. Medieval 2 is its "Super Mario World", the peak of the classic formula.
