Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 7: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.57/day in the week to Aug 16 → 4.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Poland over the last 30 days: the 21 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 12 places towards #1, and the 2,501 moves with no price cut behind them went 1 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have played the base game for almost 20 years, and its still great fun, graphics were state of the art at the time. The base AI was not always the smartest, but with the mods which I have only started using recently, add more units and alter diplomacy bringing a whole new life to the game so I can enjoy it even more. Highly recommend.

What used to be very intimidating and a novelty, the capability to have the equivalent of triple A graphics for first person shooters on a strategy game, came to become the new normal. Plus the artistic direction by the saga is always near-photorealistic. It's very beautiful and it runs well. That's the point. On 2026 yes it runs well. So much so that very often people will try to explore the higher capabilities available on the video game, like what happens if you render even more units than normal. That is in regards to the first perception you will get from playing this game. You probably will be interested in playing the battles themselves and so on and you will get carried away with the sound effects, the immersion. Everything is very beautiful. Now as I got older I feel that I actually enjoy much more the simulation aspect of it, where it is in fact teaching a perspective of the world that maybe can be subjective. It is a very interesting one. It's very realistic. For example very well at least that is how they would call themselves. It's called realism. For example you can change the religion of a community by assassinating the religious leader and replacing it with another one of your liking. Such manipulation of the masses is an intriguing aspect of the game and it has always been a signature of the Total War saga, where there are public assassination attempts and so on, on sometimes historical characters. Now I value this perspective. I prefer this to a didacticized perspective, which is always going to be even more subjective than this attempt to be objective. I enjoy it and I appreciate it. The only thing that I think perhaps doesn't go all the way is that the name itself says Total War but it stops from being a showcase of Total War. In fact it is a showcase of rules. It's a very optimistic vision of the world. All things considered, 10 out of 10.
Well, i know this problem may be slightly eliviated by mods these days but the ai is really dumb like critically so without em. They constnantly attack with tiny armies and stuff you can fend off easily and do really dumb things in battle especially sieges, like they have one single siege behavior surround and climb and get trashed on walls. Cannons have infinite ammo, this is a wierd choise and they are somewhat utterly useless for battle except mortars perhaps or on sieges. other than that they miss like all the time and even when they hit they usually don't really do much damage in this line style play. I really wish for a Region overview as there are many smaller 'town's as build poins spread around making you have to manually check them is a chore. The game is old and it shows, if it had a remastered edition i may see to playing it. It also feels like you only ever need one unit "Line infantry" and that's about it, they are easily recruited and do well against everything more or less. Its even usually more effective to shoot a salvo and charge the enemy for morale /charge bonus. I really enjoyed Medieval II and some other titles but this one felt a bit like a chore. The public order stuff also feel a bit weird with how Research and schools lowers you public order.
another great total war game.
