(install the fusion fix) my first Splinter Cell game. thus these are my first (but solid) impressions pros: 1: 80% of the game i was given fun toys and interesting sandboxes to maneuver in. climbing on pipes on the ceiling to set up my own little tomfoolery is amazing. truly feel like a predator. 2: game communicates to the player beautifully in a way i can only describe as "maximalist minimalism". actual graphics are alright for the era (2010s) but the UI is simplistic and clean. and the Dark Vision monochrome effect is a little strange at first but easily adjusted to and feels natural quickly. let alone the way objective text is sprawled across the world. 3: mark and execute system is simple and fun. get a CQC kill and you can insta-kill any number of marked targets you can currently see. it's a little funny, they still die if they move behind cover. but it's useful for both stealth, combat, and when stealth abruptly becomes combat. solid premise, needs a little tuning cons: 1: YOU NEED TO PATCH IT LMAO THANKS UBISOFT. i forgot these games were made by them until i picked'em up and was hit with the name and had to dig up my account after years 2: the end of the game is just needlessly bare and difficult. it's just narrow corridors and tight rooms that usually devolve into gunfights because there are so many enemies. hardly any reason to use any of your nifty gadgets. there's "here's a challenge at the end of the game" and overkill; this is the latter. 3: maybe it's just a skill issue but the game is hard. i play on Normal because generally i think it's best to approach a game from it's default difficulty, and maybe adjust later if you want it more difficult and can. there are definitely times i ♥♥♥♥ up but there are also times it feels like i just get beamed out of nowhere, and others where the game makes me think i can actually do something to save myself by hesitating on killing me. to borrow from Arbiter - "Kill me or release me parasite, but do not waste my time with nonsense." 4: enemy AI is so derpy. it's right to call it that, a term for the 2010s, for there is no other word to describe how early 2010s the AI can be. they don't shut up. and they're just... off. it sometimes feels almost pitiable to kill them. they're so stupid i feel bad. 5: short game. 8 hours is fun but idk, felt like it could've and should've gone on for an hour or tow more. one more level is missing in here somewhere, i feel. 6: there is basically no reason not to use the Five-SeveN. it's just too good. 6.a: WHY THE HELL CAN I NOT SUPPRESS THE USP THIS IS A CRIME all in all, fun game. would recommend w/patch.

tried to go for a "john wick" style of game. could've been better, but the story absolutely makes up for everything. is it a splinter cell game? gameplay wise, no. story wise, absolutely.
A trip to remember
