About
Thomas Was Alone. And then, well, he Wasn't.
Thomas Was Alone is an indie minimalist 2D platformer about friendship and jumping and floating and anti-gravity. Starting with Thomas, become acquainted with a group of rectangles-slash-sentient-AIs, learn their individual abilities, and navigate them through 120 levels of obstacles.
Listen to a critically acclaimed score by David Housden. Jump over blocks and barriers meticulously placed by Mike Bithell. Listen to a voiceover read wistfully, a bit amusingly, and BAFTA-winningly by Danny Wallace.
Thomas Was Alone tells the story of the world's first sentient artificial intelligences, and how they worked together to, well, not escape: Escape is a strong word. 'Emerge' might be better. 'Emerge' has an air of importance about it, while keeping the myriad plot twists and superhero origin stories you'll discover under wraps. We didn't even mention the bouncing. That'd be overkill.

Utilize the unique skills of 10+ characters to beat 120 levels.
Uncover the story of AIs becoming unexpectedly sentient.
Immerse yourself in David Housden's critically acclaimed procedural score.
Chuckle along to Danny Wallace's narration.

What a charming little game! The puzzles require some thinking as well as trial and error but they never got to the point of frustrating to me. The narration and music are top notch and the writing is very good.
Lovely little game. I'm still amazed I was able to have such an adorable reaction to the freaking colored blocks lmao.
A delightful platformer where you play as a series of different sized quadrilaterals who all have different abilities. Providing a much more engaging story than such a description would suggest, this game proves that you don't need highly detailed human characters to find yourself getting attached. Together with the amazing soundtrack, this game is well worth playing.
absolutely no replayability but this game genuinely changed my view on life, i reccomend
I had played this first on the Wii U, then again on the PC. I had come into my replay of this expecting my jaded adult self to hate it, but it was still a bit like I had remembered, and it did manage to evoke feelings in me like it did the first playthrough. This is peak 2010s earnestness, when any game that made the faintest token gesture towards deep "literary" themes like existentialism was praised to the sky and back, and when Cheeky Bri'ish Narrator Humor wasn't universally seen as obnoxious and insufferable. I'd like to think that I'm being objective with this game, even though I'm impaired due to nostalgia. It's genuinely great, and should be remembered for a long time.
I enjoyed it! It's not too challenging, I'm not particularly good at platformers, a couple levels took me a bit more to get through, so I really enjoyed the moderate challenge, the story and the characters.
Great game overall. Has some rough edges, the physics is certainly not perfect for example. But this game is not meant to be perfect. It stands to be a simple, but memorable experience and at that it accomplishes with grace.
