Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

Reviews
I didn't care for the gunplay. I felt it was half-baked and didn't evolve in meaningful ways over the duration of my playthrough. Vibes and atmosphere do a lot of heavy-lifting here, which pushes this to a "soft recommend" for me.
you actually have to make conclusions instead of it all being spelled out, Awesome

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 19: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Mixed. The story is definitely intriguing, and unraveling it through the various documents hidden in archives and in abandoned, decaying houses really makes you want to dig deeper into Oakmont’s lore. That said, there are some issues that can’t be ignored: -there’s no dodge mechanic, while enemy attacks are completely unpredictable and lack a clear pattern, -after a while the gameplay becomes repetitive, making it tiring even after just one mission, -the secondary characters are all just background figures, with no real characterization. In the end, the positives outweigh the negatives, because as I mentioned at the start, the story is fascinating and the atmosphere never lets up. Worth it, BUT only if you grab it on a DEEP sale.
I don't do reviews often, so sorry if this appears rushed or poorly worded. I would supplement this review with those from other people to be better informed before buying this game. That being said, as it stands I currently cannot recommend this game to others, even if on a sale (I purchased it for $3). This game felt like one, big, grandiose, walking simulator with hints of mediocre combat, minimal horror (the only time I was truly scared was due to a bug, ironically), and a story with so much potential that just falls flat. I went into this game expecting a small, dense open world with interesting npcs, a connected story with detailed investigation mechanics, and good gunplay. What I got instead was a bland, monotonous city with little to no content between each point of interest, other than the average infested zone (which, I never once visited to collect resources). I literally felt no pull throughout this game to go and explore because A. exploring is relatively tedious with an oversized map and difficult foot navigation due to the canals B. there was little to no variety in any of the locations, nor were there any meaningful interactions with npcs. This game would have benefitted SO MUCH from either a smaller and more content-rich open world, or a set selection of linear locations like in Call of Cthulhu. Not once throughout this game was I ever scared, uneasy, or otherwise affected by Oakmont's atmosphere. The game was presented to me as a horror game, but not once did it ever scare me like it should have. The story felt like a set of independent stories rather than one, continuous story. Sure, there was the whole "find out the source of your madness" overarching plot, but not once did it ever feel like much of the characters or groups introduced interacted as they should on an island city. Characters like, for example, Robert Throgmorton, were utilized for their individual missions, and then tossed aside after. The only exception to this (that I can think of) are the Carpenters. Furthermore, it felt like none of the choices I made throughout the game had an effect on the overall ending. The player characters could have been the worst person on Oakmont, and I still had the option to go for the good ending. My point is this: The game does not introduce true, tangible repercussions or benefits to your actions throughout the story, other than a few notes on a board in the "hub" of the game (the Devil's Reef Hotel.). The endings to the game were incredibly lackluster, and honestly not worth my time. And don't get me started on the combat, the combat is terrible. I cannot put into words just how horrible I find the gunplay in this game, which is only bolstered by bullet sponge enemies. Frankly, somebody can better word the actual issues with the gunplay than I can, so I'll just focus on ammo/grenade/medkit acquisition instead. The only way to restock your ammunition/grenades/medkits is to either craft them using materials earned throughout the game (there is no merchant system), do so through the horrible side quests of the game, or loot them in extremely specific locations. This may not be an issue to some people, but god it was horrible in my playthrough. I honestly do not have any complaints about the investigation system, it was fun if not a bit too linear in it's approach. The sanity system, on the other hand, was HORRIBLE. Essentially, if you look at any horrific sight or Lovecraftian object/creature for too long, your sanity will start to drain. If it drops too low, apparitions will start to appear to kill you. Never once in my playthrough was I killed by one of these apparitions, because my sanity never dropped below around halfway for most of the game. Instead of scaring me, this system only gave me headaches every time the distorted overlay appeared on my screen. I used the antipsychotics you can find in the game to avoid a headache, not the apparitions as it should have been. Lastly, the side quests in this game are terrible. I tried three side quests, and the rest sat in the game's quest log untouched. Why? because the ones I played were nothing but fetch quests, and the others were (to my knowledge) designed similarly. I tried to like the story, I really did. It has the makings of a great game, but The Sinking City's mechanics, map, and story just falls flat completely for me. I will be purchasing The Sinking City 2 because it does look as though my issues with this game are resolved in the next, but I just cannot recommend anyone buy this game unless on sale or to support the Ukranian developers.
As a fan of Lovecraft's work, I was initially pretty skeptical of this one. I played it for about an hour, and because the beginning reminded me a bit too much of Call of Cthulhu (2018), I ended up putting it away. I came back to it a couple of years later, and wow—I was absolutely swept away and couldn't put it down. It definitely feels a bit budget-friendly in some areas (which I do not mind if it works), but the atmosphere, the clever use of short stories as inspiration for the cases, the investigation minigames, and the unforgiving combat all come together beautifully in a wonderfully depressing and creepy city you crave to escape. The main story will keep you entertained, on the edge of your seat, and thoroughly creeped out for the majority of the runtime. If you are Lovecraft-positive, absolutely give this a go.
