About
The Sinking City 2 is a third-person survival horror set in 1920s Arkham. Deliberate, tense, and resource-lean: pressure builds as you push deeper, relief comes in brief refuge, and fear is something you manage. Mind your inventory, take on unnerving puzzles, and double back via unlocked shortcuts for supplies and upgrades.
A Roaring ’20s port city buckling under a supernatural flood. Tide-stained avenues and battered Art Deco. Speakeasies gone dark. Districts feel lived-in and water-worn, with routes by foot and skiff, shortcuts behind collapsed seawalls, and secrets tucked in boarded parlors. You’ll navigate a hospital where science hides its face, a fish market where the merchandise bites back, and descend deep below the city to where eldritch horrors stir.
A ritual gone wrong trapped her soul in the Dreamlands, and now malevolent forces have stolen her body. To rescue the woman you love, you must walk a dangerous path through catastrophe to the source of the flood — her presence always felt, but rarely seen.
The Slither animate the dead. Deep Ones surge from dark water. Shadows bend space and test nerves. Some fights must be met head-on; others demand a retreat to rearm, retune your build, and return better prepared. Or take on an optional investigation and come back with an upgraded gun.
Exploration is the key to survival. Read ritual residues, sift through grisly clues, decode journals that shouldn’t exist, and pry at masks that won’t come off. Optional cases never gate progress — but they unlock safer routes, hard supplies, and upgrades that change how you endure the next encounter.
The Sinking City 2 draws on Frogwares’ detective roots to deliver survival horror that runs deep and hits hard. Shaped by studio obsession and community feedback, it’s a faithful Lovecraft experience: myths made manifest, and the inconceivable fear that results.

As much as it hurts me to say this and as much as I respect the situation of the developer and the conditions under which they developed this game, I cannot say I enjoy this game at all. When they said they would be going for a more survival horror approach during the Kickstarter, I did not expect that to mean that they would basically be doing a Resident Evil clone with a Cthulhu coat of paint. There was never a time while playing the first The Sinking City where I found myself thinking "I wish this game had better but still clunky combat, was fully linear with pretty much no exploration and got rid of all investigation mechanics". Well, here's the Sinking City 2. The tension and atmosphere are largely gone as well and the encounters are also too predictable. Just fixed a flood gate? I didn't even flinch because I knew there'd be an enemy around the corner. Enter a bigger room and the first thing you see is a red flammable container? Someone (or something) is about to return from the dead. Truth be told, if I had known how this game would turn out, I would not have backed the Kickstarter. There is a plethora of survival horror games you can find on Steam and in my opinion, this one falls short because it does not really improve upon any of them. On the other hand, there really is not anything like The Sinking City 1, which is why it does not need to be perfect, as at least it tried to stand out.

The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

An atmospheric survival horror with Lovecraftian lore Most of all, you'll face a variety of enemies with truly interesting movement patterns and well-designed physics, and the combat system itself is enjoyable The locations are fun to explore and almost every one has its own little story to uncover, but in my opinion, there aren't enough interactions with the characters in the world, which makes it feel a little empty I’d also like to note the game’s good optimization But there’s no detective element here - you simply need to connect notes to earn points for leveling up. Also it seems to me that the game balance is slightly off Overall, I have a good impression of this game and I think it deserves more attention, because many aspects of it are really well-made
I can't recommend this game. It's pretty much temu resident evil with worst lighting, sluggish combat, and a more disjointed narrative. Lovecraft would hate it.
This is a AA-quality Lovecraftian Resident Evil clone Don't expect any of the quirks or jank of the original, it is a <10 hour linear reskinned-zombie survival horror with no dialogue choices and simple optional investigations There is some replayability in NG+ if you like going for unlockables like infinite ammo, costumes, etc If you like RE games and Lovecraft maybe grab it on sale
English: I’m having a hard time rating this game. On the one hand, I‘ve been a fan since the first Sherlock Holmes games and I also like the Lovecraft genre. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy this game - it was exhausting, and the story didn’t grab me either. Calvin was more of an extra than a main character, and Faye often came across as an annoying voice in Calvin’s mind, especially in the finale. The zooming while shooting bothered me, as it made me lose track of where enemies were and prevented me from noticing other enemies behind me (plus, some of the weapons were really useless). Another problem was that if you can’t clear an area due to a lack of ammo, all the enemies end up piling up like a horde as you progress. Even if you dodge, you still get grabbed, causing you to lose track of the situation again. The enemies also often stand in doorways, making it nearly impossible to escape. In the end, I decided to just run through areas whenever possible, rather than facing the enemies or taking a closer look at interesting locations. So I’d run, check the map to see if everything was blue (indicating it was cleared), and keep going on this wild ride - until I completed a story objective, turned around, and new enemies appeared right in front of me. So the horror aspect of the game never really came through for me - it was more the exhausting feeling of “I have to run (again).” What disappointed me the most was the fact that, even after the demo was released, the developers assured us that the game would still include investigation (albeit in a reduced form, but still present). In reality, however, this wasn’t the case. Since I’m a Sherlock fan and enjoy puzzles, I was so sad to realize that all you had to do was connect pieces of paper you’d collected - and you knew right away how they fit together because they always had the same symbol. So basically, there was nothing else to do, which meant that as a player, you hardly felt involved. So the puzzles were… just there. Period. The game didn’t feel coherent to me; but rather more like the offspring of Resident Evil and Alan Wake. Lovecraft was only faintly hinted at in the final section of the story. What I also couldn’t understand was that the relationship between Calvin and Faye - which hadn’t been explored in any depth - was suddenly turned into a major romantic storyline for the player during a boat ride just before the end of the game. Then there was also a brief moment of mistrust from Calvin toward Faye, but that was quickly thrown overboard as well. To me, Frogwares’ true craftsmanship lies in their ability to create authentic and relatable characters that you can empathize with and want to learn more about. Like the mayor and all the other characters you met in Sinking City 1. But in this sequel, I didn’t care at all about the characters or the ending. Frogwares has been and remains a major part of my gaming history and has shaped me… but unfortunately, I can’t give a positive review this time, and I hope the team finds a suitable path forward if they want to continue with survival horror. For my part, I need the puzzle-solving, investigation, and story - along with authentic characters - and this title just didn’t do it for me. P.S. I get the impression that the game’s chosen genre divides opinion. People either hate it or love it. Also die Rätsel waren… da. Punkt.
I don't really care for the resident evil part, since it's just a matter of watch jump scares, stay calm, and place careful shots, but this is pretty decent. What's more fun are the puzzles that aren't suer complex, but reward attention to detail and critical thinking. The story is above average, but not as intriguing as the first game. Optimization is average (and considering the UE5 is a glorified movie engine, that means most computers will have some struggle, despite the small scope). The days of investigating are done, unfortunately. Despite my disappointment in the lack of choices and engagement with the world, I recommend it if you like RE games. It's a bit disappointing and feels a bit soulless, but also seems to be the exact direction a story around previous events would go. Consider this a meh with a caution warning. Most of the story is just jump scares galore, tbh.
I have nothing wrong with the game so far, I love the design and art of the game - and what little of the story I've already completed. Note that there are a couple issues with running on Linux - I occured crashes on startup but resolved the issue by using GEProton10-34. The reason I'm leaving a negative review is due to the potential memory leaks this game has. A game with graphics like this should not be posting me with a "not enough video memory" message. I can run much more intensive graphical games at the same settings (some higher) without any issue. Attached are my specs. I've also tried lowering the graphics and resolution and still occur what I can only describe as memory leaks. Leaving this negative review till it's fixed.
