Damn this is even better than the original! Great improvements. Works perfectly on cachyos, no complaints. Definitely worth the money, especially at this price! If only I could try the multiplayer with my friends..

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 2: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Chapter 4 Part 2 (Gundabad) has a bug where you will reach a fog wall that you can't pass through despite killing every orc. Happens roughly 7-8 hours into the game, well past the refund window.
I have the Xbox 360 and PS3 disks of this game, and I had decent progress on PC. Got stuck in Mt. Doom (or a place that looks like it) because I was constantly overwhelmed by orcs. So when in the trailer of this release, it said "solo optimized," I got excited: I'll finally be able to beat this game! At $15 in my region, it was an insta-buy. Downloaded fast, started playing. Default graphics settings were all max. Tried 4k120, got through Aragorn's part smoothly. When I got control, game crawled to a halt, with under 5 fps. 1440p120 was better, but there were frame drops and inconsistent frame pacing. Tried 1080p120, seemed to hold it steady. Played the riddle game, one or two hiccups, still good. Then I started talking to Butterbur, and I got bad framedrops. Exited the game. GD aspyr, why this again??? I won't refund yet, I'll give you a chance. FIX THIS. But so help me G, if you don't... Recommending for now because it's an awesome game for the price, IF aspyr fixes the performance issues.
$20 for this game? Bunch of idiots. I would have paid $60 for this game. Shut up and take my money! Don’t you ever delist a Lord of the Rings game on Steam again! Don’t do it; that's a di(k move! Anyways, I see a Lord of the Rings game, then I buy a Lord of the Rings game; it's really that simple. I don’t know why you all don’t milk me more with this franchise. You guys are leaving a lot of money on the table. Please, please, please give us a remastered remake of The Two Towers & Return of the King from GameCube and Fellowship of the Ring from PS2 so my son can grow up, enjoy it, and have good memories as I did without the crappy graphics; I’d suck the cream out of Tolkien's Twinkie for this!!!!
Ok so my review is going to come from a single player perspective. I did not play multiplayer so I cannot speak to the issues others are having. There are a few reasons why I cannot in good faith recommend this game. TL;DR at the bottom. 1) Performance/Bugs For the first 4 chapters of this game, it is absolutely perfect. 120 FPS, stunning views and skyboxes. However, around chapter 5 until the end of the game in chapter 7, the performance tanks. I spent a large majority of the last third of the game under 40 FPS with many many instance of well under 20. In addition I encountered some awful game breaking bugs. Whenever I fast traveled, I experienced multiple instances of my gear just changing. Once it happened about 3 times, I had to keep an eye on it and noticed it before I struggled on fights, but it happened more than 10 times over the course of the game. During the final seige I also ran into a bug that nearly prevented me from completing the game. After you kill the orc boss, you must clean up the rest of the enemies. I had two ranged archers on the right get stuck and had no hitbox. Even after reloading, they would get stuck and I was unable to hit them with ranged attacks (they bugged out outside of melee). I was able to figure it out by noticing that it looks like their models moved, but not the hitbox. I had to fire into open empty space where my cursor was red, nowhere near the enemy model. I am convinced that this game was not teste past the fourth chapter. It became a horrible experience after that. 2) Combat There are only a few enemy types in the game. Fast movers, sword and shield, big hammer, big sword, dual wield, and trolls. Ranged consisted of archers and mages. All of the same types had the same skill set. Once you learn what weapon they hold, you can see that each of them do the exact same thing as the other. Combat was not difficult, it was frustrating. They just threw combinations at you that were a pain in the ass rather than a fun challenge to overcome. Armor was fine, I focused on sets and never really felt weak. My build worked at all times. Bosses were awful. Most of them were sponges and the AI would get hit by everything. In addition, most of the adds for bosses were infinitely spawning. You had to focus down the boss or it would be never ending. Finally, one of the most frustrating things was, and I cannot stress this enough, consumables do not refresh if you lose a fight. You have to save and quit to get your potions back. If you fight a boss, use 3 healing potions, then die, YOU DO NOT GET THEM BACK WHEN YOU LOAD. You have to quit the menu to get them back. Don't know why this is a thing but it was an awful mechanic. Overall, really disappointed in this version. Hopefully this gives some clarity for those looking to play the game solo and only see the negative reviews about multplayer. TL;DR: FPS drops after chapter 5. Combat got stale and bosses were not fun.
Incredible to have this back again! Champions of Norrath next?
