community is almost entirely made up of people over the age of 50 these days; if you can tolerate that all the more power to you, i guess.
I've played this game for 200 hours now across many many years. I've never reached max level. I've never gotten to the end game. And I usually don't stray far from The Shire. And I love it. Tips: - Read. Makes the story more fun when you know what's going on. - Take the time to explore! There's cool stuff out there. - Just take your time generally! This isn't the kinda game you wanna rush. Treat it as a meditation session. Maybe convince your boss you need to take time off to "meditate".

first the bad - old school mmo so be prepared for plenty of fetch and carry quests and infuriating quest givers that will give you one quest at a time to maximise your tooing and froing. Also the Devs seem to take the utmost sadistic pleasure in making each city and areas a right pain in the bottom to get around, making the most convoluted maps possible, blocked by mountains, scenery, etc. Plus the gfx not fantastic but very serviceable. That being said it's a great game world, with months and months of free content to get through - if you want to experience everything, buy a tortoise stone from the shop once you get a few lotro points behind you (earnable for doing deeds) to stop getting experience as its very easy to outlevel areas before you're finished with them. If you dont want to spend, trust me you want to do as many quests and complete as many of the areas for deeds as you can as the points you gain lets you buy expansions and lots of quality of life gear (like extra bag space, bank space, carryall that let you store lots of task items, gee gees, etc etc, and fashion!) The game world is great and instantly recognisable if you've read the books or watched the films with plenty of nods to each with great stories and cut scenes to watch if you into that kind of thing, if not you can skip. The community (at least on Grond) are pretty chill (probably because everyone playing is 40+ ;) and I really like listening to the impromptu music performances, especially The Fae every week - thank you Fae ---- Recommended
Really easy, no pvp, gets boring fast. jam packed with lore for the lord of the rings fans and people looking for a slower pve experience, but i need skulls for the skull throne.
This sucks ass
Pretty good
Look- the game is dated, and that's fine. But that doesn't really excuse how clunky movement and combat feel (WoW nailed this years before), how laggy the servers are with rubber-banding constantly, and how 90% of the quests are simple fetch x or kill x. I was willing to look past all of this, until I tried two of the instances: Pelagir and Minas tirith. Wow, these areas genuinely look like unpolished pieces of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and we are letting new players breath in these experiences. Ontop of them being ugly, the actual mechanics such as as siege machines are so unresponsive and clunky, I don't even know how it escaped the earliest beta testing. The high elf beginning shadows tutorial genuinely teaches you nothing and has insanely inconsistent voice acting, and after you get out you choose your game landscape difficulty not from an intuitive UI, but from a random quest vendor. Why? Game is worth a shot but I suspect unless you are a diehard LOTR fan you'll be turned off.
As an MMO, it is a bit outdated and there is better options in the market and yet I keep coming back. Why is that? Well it's the charm of it, the graphics are nostalgic and the systems are easy enough to accompany. But the lore and quests is where this MMO shine, especially in later content. So, as a Tolkien fan, this isn't an MMO, it's Middle Earth, it's home.
The instructions are too vague as is the story line/lines. It's confusing and easy to leave the story arch. For a FtP player the game makes it difficult to advance and traveling is ridiculous. I subscribed and still found the running around consumes more time than actual game play. Movement is more like 70.s arcade style in movement and interaction. If you have an older system that has trouble playing more modern games or your're under 12 years of age I guess you you could settle for LOTRO. Dungons and Dragons is more enteraining and is owned by the same company SSG. No, in good conscience I could not recommend this game and would go as far as warning people not to bother with it all together.
The Lord of the Rings Online ist für mich das beste MMO +Wunderbare Atmosphäre +Tolle Soundtrack +Entspanntes Gameplay usw...
