Disclaimer: Though it says I played it for a couple of hours, I played it offline on my Steam Deck and finished the whole game. I really enjoyed this one and I'm actually a bit impressed that they managed to tie up so many plot threads from not only the previous games in this sub-series, but the previous two sub-series as well. I really enjoyed the greatly expanded roster and being able to play again as many characters I knew pretty well from previous games, and seeing them actively participate in trying to resolve the parallel political/magic catastrophes much in the same way it happened in the Trails in the Sky trilogy. I've heard that the next game is an epilogue for the Sky, Crossbell and Cold Steel arcs as well as a setup for the next arc, so I'm intrigued about what's next since the true ending to Cold Steel IV outlines what happened next and doesn't leave much in the air and that makes me assume that maybe it's a similar situation to how the ending of Trails to Azure explains what happened after, and then Cold Steel showed us those events happening and expanded upon them. I'm hyped for Reverie and the upcoming English release of Daybreak. It's been a ride and a half.

A satisfying conclusion to the Cold Steel series. While it doesn't break a lot of new ground from the previous three titles, this game's polish and grace helps the saga end on a high note. The strong characters and engaging plot make this series an easy recommend to any fans of turn-based RPGs. Character customization via the quartz system allows for substantial mechanical depth. My first playthrough took me roughly 90h. You really gotta start with the first one, though... Gaius Absolute Delay All Day
