The world’s collapse and the origins of the Infected are still being developed. For now, the focus is on survival systems and giving players freedom in how they play.
The Infected is in active Early Access development. Some features are still being added and balanced, and you may encounter bugs or performance issues. We’re a small team building this game with the help of community feedback. If you’re looking for a complete experience, you may wish to wait. However, if you want to help shape the development, we welcome you now!
The aim is to deliver a feature-rich survival crafting game with more systems and player choice than most of the genre. Survival can mean farming, base-building, or facing hostile AI — the choice is yours.

Reviews
The Infected is an atmospheric survival horror game that plunges players into a tense and immersive world overrun by terrifying infected creatures. Developed by FearLess Studios, it captures the essence of classic survival horror while adding modern gameplay twists and a strong narrative focus. Set in a post-apocalyptic environment, the game challenges players to navigate through dark, hostile locations filled with lurking dangers, scarce resources, and psychological tension. Its blend of exploration, combat, and survival mechanics creates a gripping experience that keeps players on edge from start to finish. Visually, The Infected opts for a gritty, realistic art style that emphasizes the bleakness of its world. The environments are detailed and atmospheric, with lighting and shadow playing crucial roles in building suspense. Abandoned buildings, derelict streets, and eerie underground tunnels are rendered with care, immersing players in a setting where every corner could conceal danger. The character and enemy models are suitably grotesque and unsettling, effectively conveying the horror of infection and decay. While not pushing the boundaries of graphical fidelity, the game’s art direction and sound design combine to create a haunting, oppressive atmosphere that is central to the experience. Gameplay focuses heavily on survival elements, requiring players to carefully manage limited resources such as ammunition, health items, and crafting materials. Exploration is risky but necessary, as scavenging for supplies is often the difference between life and death. The game encourages cautious movement, strategic planning, and environmental awareness. Players must balance the need to progress with the constant threat posed by infected enemies who are relentless and deadly. Stealth can be a valuable tactic, but when combat is unavoidable, the game demands precision and quick reflexes. The tension created by scarce resources and powerful enemies amplifies the horror, making every encounter nerve-wracking. Narrative-wise, The Infected offers a compelling story that unfolds through environmental storytelling, found documents, and character interactions. The plot delves into the origins and consequences of the outbreak, exploring themes of desperation, human resilience, and the breakdown of society. The writing is effective at maintaining mystery and suspense, gradually revealing the grim reality of the infection while developing the protagonist’s personal journey. The characters are well-crafted, and their struggles add emotional weight to the survival experience, helping players connect to the stakes beyond mere survival. Sound design plays a pivotal role in heightening the game’s immersion and fear factor. Ambient noises, distant growls, and sudden audio cues keep players alert and often unsettled. The soundtrack is sparse but impactful, using eerie tones and silence to build suspense. Audio feedback during combat and exploration is crisp and realistic, further enhancing the sense of danger lurking around every corner. The combination of sound and visuals effectively crafts an oppressive atmosphere that defines the survival horror genre. While The Infected excels in many areas, it does have some rough edges. At times, the controls can feel slightly clunky, especially during intense combat sequences or when navigating cramped spaces. Some players might find the difficulty curve steep, with certain sections demanding patience and repeated attempts. The save system also requires strategic thinking, as checkpoints are not overly generous, adding to the tension but occasionally leading to frustration. Minor bugs and performance issues have been reported but tend to be overshadowed by the overall experience. In conclusion, The Infected is a solid survival horror game that delivers a chilling, immersive experience through its atmospheric world, tense gameplay, and engaging narrative. It successfully captures the dread and desperation of a world devastated by infection, challenging players to survive against overwhelming odds. While it may not reinvent the genre, it offers a thoughtful and polished take on survival horror that fans will appreciate. For those seeking a game that combines strategy, exploration, and psychological tension in a grim setting, The Infected is a worthy addition to the Steam library. Rating: 8/10

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Really fun game as someone who played sons of the forest getting away from the horror aspect this game is perfect for me. hopefully add alot more as the game has such good potential. ps. please add mod support.
There is 100% more room for new buildables but it's honestly a great game. More vambie variety (and maybe some lore on how the infection started) should be added too. I would definitely recommend this as it is a great game for those looking for a rather tame (depending on the settings you provide) yet surprisingly terrifying single player experience. I've been jumpscared 3 times by that DAMN HOWL and it's a million times more terrifying at night. A few suggestions for the devs would be if you could craft other types of weapons like rifles or revolvers (Coming from a huge revolver fan I would go nuts over this game if you added a magnum) A reverb for the howl at night to make it 100% more terrifying. Blood moons And if you do add more vambie variants the howl should be unique for each one. Cheers!
Here’s a strong review you could post based on playing 218 hours of The Infected. I kept it natural and honest, like something written by someone who actually spent a long time in the game. After putting 218 hours into The Infected, I can honestly say this game is one of the most satisfying survival and base-building experiences I’ve played. What starts as a simple survival game quickly turns into something much deeper once you begin building, exploring, and defending your base. The base-building system is one of the best parts of the game. You start small with basic shelters, but over time you can build large, complex bases with walls, defenses, storage, and production systems. Watching your base grow from nothing into a fully functioning survival fortress is extremely rewarding. The survival mechanics feel balanced and meaningful. Managing food, water, resources, and crafting keeps you constantly engaged. The world encourages exploration because you need to travel to different areas to find important materials and technology. One of the things that kept me coming back for hundreds of hours is the sense of progression. Every upgrade matters. Unlocking new tools, improving your base, and becoming more self-sufficient feels like real progress instead of repetitive grinding. The Vambies and enemies add tension without making the game unfair. Defending your base during attacks makes the defenses you build actually feel important. The game also shines because of its atmosphere. The environment feels quiet and sometimes eerie, especially when you're out exploring alone and suddenly realize you're not the only thing in the forest. Like many survival games made by a small developer, it's not perfect. There can be some rough edges and occasional bugs, but the core gameplay loop is addictive and the developer has continued improving the game over time. After 218 hours, I still find myself wanting to jump back in, expand my base, and see how far I can push my survival setup. If you enjoy survival, crafting, and base-building games, The Infected is absolutely worth playing. Highly recommended.
Was a great game until they nuked the atv from spawn. Played a few times throw since launch,if i could file a refund i would! Bad enough to find the truck / npc now the atv? nope!
There has not been an update since May this year 2025. The game could be great, but lacks a main storyline. The Devs are slow to finish this game, if they intend on finishing it at all.
Good basic zombie base builder game. You can make it is difficult or easy as you want in the set up menu, and base building can be a breeze or long grind depending on what you want. Look forward to seeing updates for the fishing, hunting, etc.
Especially for people who enjoy building. For me, the game lost its appeal after about 50 hours. At that point, I had unlocked all the buildings and technologies available through tech, but I had only built a few of them. All the others seem to make life easier, but the game had long since ceased to be challenging. If they refine this aspect, it could become a real long-term hobby. Let's hope for the best ;-)
Очень интересные механики... НО... Боевка ужасная, убивает все желание продолжать. Есть ли бы зомби не были полу вампирами с палками может это и спасло бы ситуацию.
Could be a great game the problem I have is that it's extremely basic and there's 20 games that do the same thing better. Were going backwards not forwards in gaming at this point. All due respect to the developers I am not trying to ♥♥♥♥ on your work it's just getting old playing games that might have been cutting edge 10 or 20 years ago but not now.
