Let's Take a Walk Through the Forest for No Reason The Expectation: I went into The Gold River Project honestly expecting a fun, nature-based survival crafting game—something along the lines of Sons of the Forest. The Reality: This game was absolutely not that. I played for an hour and 15 minutes and accomplished absolutely nothing. I just walked in circles. There is zero direction, no actual guide, and no information on what you are supposed to do. You just run around the forest picking up rocks and sticks for no apparent reason. Even a basic, bare-minimum objective like "collect four sticks to build something" would have made it better, but there are no requirements for anything. Action & Gameplay (Or Lack Thereof): [*]Zero Threats: There are no enemies, no scares, and no adrenaline rushes. The only thing I encountered was the sound of deer running in the woods. [*]Useless Weapons: In 75 minutes of gameplay, I never had to draw or use my weapon a single time. [*]No Progression: You never accomplish anything or get to where you are going because the game refuses to tell you where to go in the first place. Final Thoughts: When you play a game for over an hour and you never get scared, never use a weapon, and never accomplish a single goal, that tells you everything you need to know. I'm sad to say it, but this was an absolute waste of money. The developers basically just created a game where you walk through the woods and nothing happens. They really should just change the title from The Gold River Project to "Let's Take a Walk Through the Forest for No Reason".

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

NOT WORH PLAYING ITS GOT BUG AFTER BUGS I UNINSTYLLED IT AND GOT A REFUND
My saved game won't load the world, no trees, no buildings, just some boxes, doors, and empty landscape. Game save files removed all the keys which are one time gatherable so you can't continue the game. Not suitable for early release in this condition.
In its current state, the game is unplayable. Keys can disappear, forcing you to load older saves just to progress. The health and hunger systems are inconsistent, as are deaths and respawns. The game has great potential, and I love the concept, but playing it in its current state will likely ruin the experience.
Well it has got to that stage where I have given this game so many chances but sadly the game is so buggy it's unplayable, lets put some context to this I have been playing games for over 50 years now and for the last 15 years i have concentrated on EA I like to see how games go on this journey. I played the Demo and was very impressed yes it had its some quirks but that's what you get in Demos sometimes, so I purchased the game and watched the players reactions on Steam mostly good so I thought I made a wise purchase. Then the developers starting rolling out patches, fixes and updates that's when the game started tp go south for me, there are simple things from the start like you have to drop the watch and pick it back up for the time to appear in the HUD and the latest one you can't even fish in the game anymore it is so buggy...
This is not worth the price they have it set to. for $25, you too can face frequent disconnects if trying to play with friends. And rejoining the world means those items are just lost to the void. At least this game at its current place is not worth $25 and I cannot stress to anyone to not buy this. The developers need to fix basic game functions BEFORE adding more
There is no game to hunt and no way to attach anything to your Kayak. all you seem to be able to do is fish and paddle around or walk. to nowhere! Attach the cooler to a small location on the left side of Kayak and Net connects to one on the very back Game is picking up.
This game cannot be compared to Dayz, maybe The forest but not Dayz.... visually it is beautiful but the character movements and overal UI are less than tolerable. Movement is odd, you're either walking at a snail's pace or sprinting like theres a bear chasing you. Trying to pick up ground objects (sticks, rocks, etc) is painful. Your cursor has to be exactly on the object to get the "pick up" prompt; there should be more of a hit box or something so you can look close to it and still receive the prompt. I gave up after not being able to place a crafting bench because I guess I am not in the correct zone. But where is the correct zone? My character arrived on a dock with a dilapitated cabin and destroyed neighboring campsite with nothing but his clothing. Other than the occasion berry bush, there isnt enough sustinance to venture much further than I have. Honestly this game has potential but the cost for early access is not justifiable. I will be checking back periodically to see if any improvements have been made. I believe its been in early access for a little over a year? But currently the playtime felt more like a chore than an activity at this moment in time. Less mariner updates and more polishing.
less mature version of rust! I'd play rust if i am in the mood for survival . Devs. didn't answer my question ... they patch the game with one very large file that it will take ages to replace other one(s) so patching will be at least for 10 minutes... I'd say you buy it to play with friends or support your dev friend for trying to create a rust knock off!
