About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a dystopian world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, AI automata, cybernetically enhanced soldiers, human-machine hybrids, and relentless automated warfare. There's two sides to this war, and you're not on either.

I've been following this game since it's EA debut. It was not in a very playable state based on the demo they had at the time, but I saw the vision so I've been keeping track. It seemed like they were making a lot of questionable decisions through progress that the community did not like. It was weird to watch because it felt like they were sticking to their guns with these unpopular changes but then update after update that the community was asking for. I'm happy to say this game is in a very playable state now, and pretty damn good. I love the tunnel system. That was a huge point of contention for a long time, and one of the reasons I held off longer, but when I saw the positive feedback to the changes I was ready to dive in, and what it is now is awesome. It is a great risk/reward dynamic that you can use currency to skip, but honestly not much a burden once you learn them, since you only have to reach each section of the tunnel once to be able to fast travel freely to that section again. I truly enjoy them, especially doing map after map in the world and its constant warfare, being in a tunnel is quite calming alternatively. It is an extraction shooter in EA, you will die to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and lose things. It's been rare but it has happened, sometimes bots just act weird or will spawn on top of you, but with the atmosphere this game brings alone, then with some very solid gameplay, questing, looting, exploration, factions. There is a lot here that I am happy to dump hours into, and am really looking forward for what's to come.

Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

this game is F-ing amazing worth every penny and more !!!!5 stars hands down
Love the atmosphere and gameplay loop. Runs great. Beautiful graphics and style. Tense extraction shooter which lives by its worldbuilding and excellent design. I don't find it too janky and so far it has been running steadily on my rig. 30hrs in and just getting into it for real. A+
Skynet meets Clive Barker.. its janky but has emergent battles so good youll want to tell your mom you love her.. oh and gigastructures🫡
I’m glad I stumbled upon this one. The oppressive atmosphere and how the world is built makes it believable that you are a in a horrible, battle-ridden place, dominated by terrifying machines and hostile factions. While you are a small scavenger, but not a defenseless one. The chosen style/design is fitting and the graphics are nice in my opinion. The game runs smoothly on “high settings” and I had no crashes to report. The only thing that once happened was that the game got stuck but resumed after like 6 seconds. The multiplayer experience was pleasant so far, the community seems very helpful and friendly. There are things like bugs and some of the animations/interactions with enemies that need work, but since it’s in early access I expect a lot of those to be ironed out in the future. Judging from some other reviews, a lot has improved already and I don’t agree with the “mixed” status it has at the moment. It deserves better. This game truly feels like there are people with passion and love for what they do behind it.
I'm only just really getting started at 16.5 hours but I have fallen in love with this game. Pros: -Unmatched art direction -The music, the enemies, the levels, the scavs, the character portraits, everything -Tense atmosphere, a mixture of feeling badass when you get the jump on weaker targets vs feeling helpless and like prey vs the more dangerous enemies -Seems like there is a lot to do even in early access. You will not be flying through this game by any means. The base requirements take a lot of resources, and some of the quests can take a while to complete. Fortunately, the RNG of the levels, the layouts, and the enemies you run into will keep it feeling fresh. -Cool playable characters. My favorites are Scavgirl, Shaman, and Gunhead. And you level them up and unlock upgrades, though I kind of wish there was a little more balancing between them. -I mentioned the levels before, but they are really jaw dropping at times. Cons: -Navigating the levels can be very jank. The collision, especially on like scrap piles or trying to climb a wall can be very hit or miss or outright glitchy. Got stuck inside a wall once. -Some quests are easy, some are a massive grind, like the ones that ask you to construct base upgrades or hunt for very specific drops. Good luck. -The enemy detection and aggro can be very inconsistent. I appreciate that their attention being divided and your threat level are taken into account, but even beyond that they sometimes can start to detect you through walls which isn't great. -Game is not very optimized at all, but looks good even on low settings. I run some options on ultra, and some on low, and get 90+ fps, but if I turn certain ones like shaders or gobal illumination up it will tank the frames -Inconsistent keybinds. Some keys have dual use, like e for leaning and activation but they don't rebind properly, at least in my experience Overall: I can tell it still needs work but I haven't played a game with this much style and heart in quite some time. It is fun solo and with randos and especially with friends. Was very sceptical of this game when it first released on EA but am so happy I gave it a chance. I can see myself playing this for the long haul as long as it keeps being supported.
Its an awesome style that gets improvements/additions constantly. I remember when I first got it my friends and I had to look up how to get certain quests activated and working but other than that its been fun to find out for ourselves how everything works. Can feel like a horror game at times and all around is one of my favorite games I've played.
Cool game but wow needs a lot of work, animations are rough in a lot of places, playing the game feels clunky, enemy ai is really wacky for a game with so much ai, maps look cool at a first glance but are kind of sloppily put together at a closer look. But they say its extremely early still so hopefully they can work on these areas instead of only new content drops. I didn't get far but I hope once the game is more refined in a later stage I can play it again and enjoy it. Some of the coolest designs I've seen tho, insane concept art too.
Great atmosphere and visual design. I keep getting killed but still want to try again. Playing the EA but have not encountered any bugs yet (10 hours in).
