At first the controls can be janky, until you get used to them, but it is worth it just for the story-line and atmosphere. Of all the XCOM remakes and re-imagines, this one gives the best sci-fi creepy sounds and atmosphere, like the original XCOM that I played in the 1990's. The original used to make me jump when an alien suddenly appeared and shot at you. This is the only one that I keep going back to replay. I like the new XCOM and XCOM2, but they just don't have the same feeling. 5/5

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.57/day in the week to Jul 30 → 1/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Woof. I don't know why they did this to XCOM, but it didn't deserve it. Only play this if you're into grey-brown-em-ups or if you're a curious masochist.
3/10 Punkte.
It's weird seeing XCOM as a third-person shooter, but interesting nonetheless, especially considering that it seemingly tried to copy the formula of Mass Effect series: grand plot, lots of dialogues with the famous dialogue wheel, combat abilities and squad commands to make encounters more engaging, linear missions with environmental storytelling and periodic converstations, additional small missions, ability to talk with different people at base. Part of the formula has been implemented pretty well.

Plot is, indeed, grand, intriguing and makes you want to continue playing, to find out what happens next. Threat to humanity is proper, and so is the response to it of XCOM. It progresses slowly, with each mission introducing more exciting details about what's going on, properly immersing player in the world. Some moments are simply peak writing.
Dialogues are rather interesting and well written: characters are disctinctive and have some deepness to them, they talk about situation on hand, in details, with personal opinions and reactions, making them interesting to listen to. The voice actors also did fantastic job, easily capturing attention with the way they talk, thus making characters more believable.
Combat abilities and squad commands allow for strategic approach: turrets, mines, [strike]biotics[/strike] alien-technology based anti-gravitational measures for combating the foes, special attacks - all that provides diversity and greatly rewards thoughtful, step-by-step approach to the battle.
Missions are linear and long, each major operation is an adventure that contains many notes with lore scattered around, firefights and occasional chit-chatting between characters. Surroundings change throughout the mission, keeping them fresh, their details tell a lot about what was going on in the area prior to the arrival of XCOM team. Minor operations are very much similar, just shorter and with less diverse area.
After each major operation some characters at base have new things to say, and sometimes they can even ask player to do something for them. It's a nice change of pace and a way to learn about the world, if you are interested.
This is a lot of good stuff already, but alas, there is another side to the medal, and it's much less attractive.

Lots of drama, the bad one, which comes just for the sake of drama. Many questionable situations and actions that make no sense but create tension, or suddenly relieve it. Bad guys come victorious when plot demands, and so do the good guys, and no good reasoning behind any of that is present. Facepalming and rolling eyes are induced throughout the story.
Some dialogues are oversimplified and lack common sense. Why? Who knows, perhaps developers decided that writing believable characters all the time is too much job, or that it's funnier, or it's not important. Either way, they can and will cause you to cringe from time to time.
Combat abilities are pretty basic: few abilities for squadmates, no psychic powers, no grenades. You use them all in the beginning of the encounter and then simply shoot the enemies while everything is on cooldown. Squad positioning is garbage because squadmates automatically follow the player if it moves beyond certain radius, and they love to constantly run straight through the enemy's fire when it happens. They also run away if grenade has landed in their position but don't come back on their own. Moreover, sometimes their brain dies, making them stuck in place instead of following commands.
Combat is weird in general: enemies love to push player's position to die faster; every hit does extreme damage to you and squadmates, but enemies themselves can tank lots of bullets, especially the heavy ones, which are simply bullet sponges; the only efficient way to kill a foe is to shoot it in the head, but later in the game most of them are shielded, and so even simple foes turn into sponges, all the while player and squadmates get a backpack that provides some minor buff, but only one at a time. Most of them are useless. Oh, and there are no armouring options, not even clothes can be changed, only their colours. No wonder that XCOM agents die so fast: they have no proper equipment, and it's just sad.
Missions are linear and long. Although it makes each operation an adventure, it gets stale to wonder more or less the same environments for one and half hours straight. After all, they are mostly made of same decorations, even though their placement is changing, and there isn't enough conversations and unique encounters so that they wouldn't become dull.
Little quests at base are simple "Go there, check this thing, return", all they do is waste your time and give access to technology that you either already have or will have in the near future, and they have no influence on the plot. Same with the minor operations, sadly: no matter what descriptions and characters tell or do in them, they're completely detached from main plot line and bear no significance.
Moreover, there are other problems, smaller, but omnipresent.

PhysX effects are broken: they make FPS drop extremely in certain locations, and in others - to crash. Developers said that it can't be fixed, which means PhysX stuff should be disabled in settings. Why did they implement it in first place if it causes such severe problems - is a mystery.
Everything is seemingly unpolished, incomplete. Audio cuts out; all audio is noticeably compressed; lines of dialogue have no pause between them, making characters spit them out instead of saying; music and sound effects are either bugged out or not introduced to some parts of the game where they clearly should be; cutscenes are in extremely low quality; animations are simplistic; UI and menus are confusing and ugly.
Most weapons are deprecated, they just don't do enough damage or are precise enough to be useful. There are only several guns worth bringing on missions. Moreover, game forces player to use alien guns very soon, because it's much easier to find ammo to them than simple bullets, even more cutting down the viable arsenal of weapons. But even then it's easy to find yourself sitting in cover and using combat abilities instead of shooting, simply because shooting does almost nothing to the target.
There are different ways to move around cover, but they are unintuitive and require pressing several different buttons, it's easy to get them messed up during firefight.
To use abilities and issue commands, it's imperative to open a commanding menu: you can't bind abilities to the keys, nor it's possible to send squadmates to cover of choice individually without it, only to issue attack move to the same location, and only for both of them. Menu slows down time but doesn't stop it, meaning that while you are busy giving individual orders without any control of you character - you will get shot at, and so will your squadmates, and that will happen even faster than without slowed down time, all because it slows movements but not the reaction of enemies, or the speed of their bullets, making it extremely easy to get severely damaged or die while using that menu.
When command is issued - it can't be cancelled, even if you're still in the menu, even it's queued, even if it's your own character. Accidental commands will be completed, and you won't be able to move until your character does everything you've told him to do. It's an extremely dumb design.
There are no manual saves, only checkpoints. Game crashed, you died in the end of long fight, or you want to end playing for the moment but last checkpoint was 20 minutes ago? Too bad.
Overall, game has many problems, and could be much better than it is. It reeks of being rushed, sadly. But I genuinely did partially enjoy the difficulty of combat and uniqueness of story nonetheless. So in my opinion, it's worth the try, at a discount.
Like many before me, I also wish there was a "Neutral" button. But given I can only recommend or not recommend this game, I tend to say I rather not recommend it. Which is a shame because it looked like a perfect 7/10 game. However, I just dont like how in several places the game design is just "let the players fight as many waves of enemies as possible". This is true especially for the very last mission which was quite a pain in a neck. I also wish the human weapons got improved as the game goes on - after all, you manage to steal basically all weapons that aliens have and your engineers look into them, so why not the gained knowledge to improve your firearms? Lastly, the end of the story is weird. What happened to agent Carter? As for the good stuff, dialogues and voice-acting are solid, atmosphere is perfect, optimalization seemed fine to me and I had no problem playing the game on Steam Deck - meaning it's perfectly playable even with a controller.

Welcome to XCOM You begin the game as Agent William Carter, who finds himself caught in a secret alien invasion of Earth after being shot during the opening events. From there, you're introduced to a central hub filled with a cast of characters who all play a role in either the story or gameplay. From the hub, you'll be assigned missions across various locations in the United States to stop the aliens' plans. There are two mission types. Main missions advance the story, while extra assignments add flavor to the narrative and often reward you with upgrades for Carter or your squad. Alongside Carter, you'll always have two agents that you can command through a radial menu. One important thing to note is that these agents can die permanently. While the game is primarily a third-person cover shooter, you'll also unlock a variety of special abilities. Carter has his own unique ability tree, while recruited agents can be assigned one of four different classes. Choosing an agent's class when they join your team gives you a surprising amount of strategic freedom, allowing you to build a squad around your preferred playstyle. Personally, I leaned heavily into abilities that distracted enemies. Between Carter's powers and my squadmates' skills, I was often able to keep enemies occupied long enough to eliminate them with little retaliation. As you progress, Carter can level up to level 10, while your recruited agents can reach level 5. One feature that clearly reflects the game's XCOM roots is permanent death. If an agent dies in combat, they're gone for good, forcing you to recruit someone else to take their place. I believe you're limited to around ten recruits at a time, so keeping your squad alive is just as important as succeeding in the missions themselves. The final mission type involves sending agents away on assignments. Each assignment has a required difficulty rating. For example, a mission with a difficulty of 6 could be completed by sending two level 3 agents. These away missions reward your agents with experience while also granting useful bonuses, such as new recruits or perks. Both Carter and your agents can equip these perks, giving you even more opportunities to customize your squad. Overall, I thought the game has the ideas to be a good game. Full of interesting ideas. Its biggest weakness, however, is the squad AI. Your teammates are incredibly unreliable. The combat arenas are heavily inspired by Gears of War, and that style works alright, but your agents make poor decisions far too often. Even when you specifically order them to stay in a safe position, they'll frequently abandon it after only a few moments. I found this incredibly frustrating, and it ultimately pushed me toward a strategy focused on distracting enemies and killing them as quickly as possible before my squad could get themselves into trouble. The story itself works. There are plenty of collectibles, notes, and conversations scattered throughout the game that flesh out the world, and I honestly came away somewhat impressed with how much extra reading there was than I expected. It isn't an amazing narrative, but it's certainly stronger than I anticipated. I was also surprised by the game's length. It took me around 12 hours to finish while completing most of the side objectives, which was considerably longer than I expected. If you can tolerate the inconsistent squad AI, there's a decent amount of replay value thanks to the different squad compositions, class choices, and perk combinations. The voice acting is a mixed bag, ranging from perfectly competent to genuinely rough. In the end, I think the game could have been something special. might even have been an excellent one if all of its systems worked together more cohesively. You can clearly see the developers' ambition, and there are plenty of smart ideas throughout. It feels like the team either ran out of time or simply couldn't bring all of those ideas together as smoothly as they intended. Despite its flaws, I think it's an interesting game that deserves more credit than it often gets, and I'd absolutely recommend giving it at least one playthrough.
It has a lot of style, being a 1950's aliens over taking the earth scenario, but the X-Com mechanics are clunky in this live play edition and the squad commands don't flow. AI allies are brainless and fragile, making it a chore to assign them to do things and not get wrecked even behind cover. This should have been a single player game or simply not have the player controlling dim witted AI allies while running around. It lends nothing to the experience.
Juego entretenido.

Si has jugado a la saga principal te va a gustar.
