We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.

Set in the 1960s and dealing with an alien invasion, the game even gives its AI the feel of an old-school computer—perfectly driving home the point that the real threat isn't from aliens, but from our own incompetence.
This game was looking for another touch from tactical XCOM franchise by abandoning isometric and made it to a third person shooter that get heavy influence Mafia 2 gameplay for cover shooter. blend it with Mass Effect's influence for a story choice decision and you get The Bureau: XCOM Declassified that set in the 60's with height of Cold War. Despite this game have an excellent feature like permadeath system, it never be explored to be punishable because player can reload last checkpoint. And this game has limited mission for training new recruit agent, if they were truly death. And that was a shame. But, something that this game amazed to me was multiple story path at the end because It leads to multiple ending including a twist that I never know it was existed in a story narrative. Well, The Bureau was not a good XCOM game but a solid tactical third person shooter. There so many flaw here and there, including technical problem that made game crash to desktop. However, this game also had its charm and that was good.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 8: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I honestly do not know why this game got so much hate back in the day. It might not be a great game but it's certainly not a bad one. If you completely ignore those who said that this is not an XCOM game, then it actually turns out into a solid third-person cover-shooter that I'm currently having a blast to play through. Although, why can't it be an XCOM game? Just because it's not tactical turn-based, base-building strategic shooter all the sudden it's not worthy of an XCOM name? I played my share of XCOM over the years, and although it doesn't play like those classic XCOM games, it certainly feels like one with it's gameplay in general, whose strategic parts are very well done and very well incorporated into overall package. Even though they completely slow down the action, they don't feel out of place and are actually interesting and that's the beauty of it. If you completely look at this game as an XCOM spin-off which never took off probably because of bad reception back in the day I'm sure you will have great time with it! XCOM doesn't have to be strictly turn-based strategy shooter and I honestly wouldn't mind getting a sequel of this, even though we'll probably never get one. 7/10 - disregard the critics and just enjoy yourself, or don't - it's entirely up to you! P.S. If you're playing this on a modern system and you're experiencing frequent crashes in the first part of the game, just go to the DISCUSSIONS section in the forums. There's a fix, and after I applied it I never had any troubles since. Good luck!
🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑 (69 / 100) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3678942189

I've been going back and playing all my "old school" games from better times. It's amazing how "average" games and movies from the Olden Times are literally masterpieces compared to the absolute slop we get served up now. This is a fun little lore ad on for the Xcom games, nothing earth shattering, but a solid story and light tactical shooter where you can order your squad mates. Def worth the 3 bucks or so it regularly goes on sale for.
For anyone wondering, this game still works on a modern PC. The game is pretty fantastic, if you like Men In Black, games set in old fashioned times. Excellent world building and story. Don't compare it to XCOM, it's not even the same game type. EDIT: I lied, it can still crash a fair amount for an old game. But at least it runs. It's a valuable game to experience though
