About
You have crash-landed on a lethal, radiation-soaked planet, and you are running out of time. A scorching sun that burns everything in its path is coming your way. Your only hope of survival is a massive mobile base too complex for one person to operate. You are forced to make a decision no human has ever faced: creating a crew of alternative versions of yourself.
But your solution may just become your biggest problem.
You crashed. You are entirely alone. The sun is a death sentence, and your mobile base must keep moving to outrun it. With no rescue coming, you must find a way to operate it, or you’ll die.
When the planet itself is your enemy, every second spent standing still brings you closer to ash.
To survive, you must move. To move, you need help. Forced to use the base’s advanced quantum technology and the planet’s unique resources, you must create The Alters: alternative versions of yourself. Brought to life by a supercomputer that turned your alternative life choices into reality, they are your only hope. They bring the specific expertise and capable hands you drastically lack, but they also bring their own human baggage.
A crew of ‘yourselves’ is a psychological nightmare. Every Alter arrives with distinct personalities, memories, and regrets. You aren't just managing resources. You are also a relationship manager to yourself, mediating conflicts and confronting your past choices lightyears from home.
As tensions rise, your Alters will clash over how to handle the mission. Keep them sane and keep them together, or your own egos will destroy your only chance of seeing Earth again.
Your rolling base is your lifeline, your factory, and your home. Customize and upgrade it to accommodate your growing crew. Research cutting-edge technologies, manage crucial life-support gear, and manufacture what you need to survive. Turn your base into a self-sustaining powerhouse capable of keeping both your crew fed and your systems humming.
You cannot hide inside the hull forever. To fuel your base and progress your research, you must step out onto the hostile planet's surface. Venture out into unpredictable anomalies and heavy radiation to mine essential resources.
But watch the clock, as every expedition is a high-stakes gamble against the oncoming burning sunrise.

The Alters truly a flawed game, but a loveable one. Let's start with warnings, all endings are basically the same with minor dialogue changes or small visual differences excluding one which is completely missable if you don't create Botanist Jan. The DLC is surely something that I don't know how to feel about. The DLC feels like the main game if all the aspects I loved were watered down to being just mid plus the ending is trash(seems 11 bit studios doesn't know how to write endings.) The gameplay loop gets repetitive nearing the end of both the main and DLC storyline. Collect materials and build required item then sleep then repeat that for a few in game days. Lastly the game will have massive frame drops+graphics quality drops when entering dialogue sometimes plus you can get stuck under the map when climbing or repelling up/down a interactable rock edge. The good parts. This game truly felt like it was created with love from the heartfelt storylines from most of the alters and cutscenes when making decisions, but I wish they had allowed us to create all ten alters(one of them being secret and can never work at any workplace) and make all the storylines follow some type of progression tied to points in the story(or just generally be longer to pad out time). If you make a certain choice in act 2(btw it adds a 3 in game day counter before you are forced to make said choice which could be 10+ in game days before act 2 ends) you are locked out of progressing the storyline with half your alters or the other half if you choose one thing or the others even if you are right at the end and it does nothing to warn you of this or allow you to finish the storylines in act 3. The gameplay loop is fun until it becomes repetitive. You feel rewarded for exploration and you feel like your choices really matter, but unless you have a guide there are certain things that you can get locked out of because you needed to have this alter or finish this other alter's storyline to learn a lesson that can be used to finish another alter's storyline. I'm looking at you refiner which you need to learn the scientist's lesson by forcing your alters to work 12 hours even if you don't need to in order to learn his lesson which to be honest you probably will never need to force alters to work 12 hour days or you just create the botanist and learn his lesson, but honestly the botanist becomes useless the moment you progress the doctor's storyline. Anyways I've lost the point of this, but you can tell from the way I go on these long tangents that I love this game, but ultimately was left with some major gripes that prevent me from saying you should drop the money on this game. Truly you'll get the same experience just watching someone else play the game because most choices even if they feel like they matter mostly just make the alters have a different mood for awhile.

Every market we collect.
Latest in each market: best FR #92, worst RU #99 · 3 markets collected
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Branch yourselves out!
I have just finished playing this gem. This is hands down one of the best games I have ever played. The narrative is highly commendable and the quality of the game is all the way up there. I rarely finish a game but this is well worth your time. The developers did an amazing job. Thanks for the emotional journey "The Alters" team!
good. unique plot
9 out of 10 This is a pretty unique game that is definitely worth checking out. What makes it unique first and foremost is its unusual combination of mechanics. To be honest, before starting my playthrough, having a general idea of what the game was about, I thought the developers wouldn’t be able to bring all of this together into a cohesive and engaging product, but they pulled it off! I liked the design of the locations and the planet as a whole. It’s interesting to explore, and although it generally looks quite monotonous, I think that emphasizes the realism and actually helps with immersion. Base management is implemented in a pretty interesting way, and the base itself looks absolutely awesome from the outside! The interactions with the in-game characters are done well — the dialogues are pretty well-written, and there are quite a lot of them overall, so you should be prepared for that. However, the developers went overboard with the Alters’ demands — pretty quickly, trying to keep them in a good mood turns into babysitting. And in general, their wants and needs feel silly and out of place in the context of harsh survival on a hostile planet. I also found the story slightly less than perfect. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still done at a very high level and is better than what you get in 95% of games. But the plot twist in the middle of the game felt very illogical to me. On top of that, it puts the player within overly strict boundaries, essentially preventing you from acting the way you would actually want to, which hurts the immersion a little.
