George Eliot once wrote that art's greatest gift is its power to enlarge our capacity for empathy. This game makes me grieve, however briefly, for a life I never lived and a loss I never suffered. It does not try to explain sorrow or turn tragedy into spectacle. Instead, it transforms one family's intensely private pain into something universal, allowing me to share in its weight.
As someone who thinks babies are too pure for this world, this was such a heartbreaking game to play through. I'm not religious but this game gave me so much to think about. What I mean is, during hardship, it is a very human thing to look for answers or find relief in concepts (like God and miracles) that we do not completely understand and I wish more people understood and respected that even if we don't personally agree. Absolutely beautiful and sad at the same time.

Score: 2/5 Play What Remains of Edith Finch instead. I do not like the main character. Probably just a mouthpiece for the victim-mindset writer, condescendingly preaching his beliefs/feelings at the player/audience and trying to evoke a strong emotional/sympathetic reaction from us. It's a rough situation the writer/character is going through, but I do not owe anyone my time, and you have failed to make me care. Slow, aggressively boring gameplay. Decent audio and voice acting. I don't like the art style/direction.
Things happen, and I end up thinking about this game at least a couple times a year, and pretty immediately get brought to tears. Few pieces of art have that much impact. You should play this, and expect it to permanently alter your brain chemistry. Do it. Gain an empathy.
Oh man...
this was the best game ever it made me ugly cry at the end and i loved the story im sorry for your loss and i hope your going strong still
Thank you for this beautiful experience. Highly recommended. I love my boys.
This game has made me realize that life is sometimes shorter than it should be and it isn't always fair.
Very few games can make me cry. I'm very proud to say this is 100% one of them.
Rest in Peace Joel. Gone but never forgotten
