Reviews
Sadly does not run well, even on high end hardware. Seems to be CPU bound pretty heavily even at the start of the world. No hope for this one. Avoid.
Performance is abysmal. I'm a new player so I can't say I have the same complaints regarding the changes that a lot of other people have. But the performance alone is enough to justify a negative review.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

So the Early Access was a bit of a mess but it had some promising things about the game story that I thought would make the full release worth playing through too. I was Wrong. First off, the Early Access was all on essentially one level (in a 3D space). This was a much more cohesive space to play in and worked quite well. The Monorail system actually served a purpose. But this clearly went out the window with 1.0. The game map was split up into 16 levels and two completely different tiers (levels 1 to 11 and then levels 12 to 16 on their own power networks). The reason for this becomes all to painfully obvious when you get towards the end game. Your computer slows to a slideshow. This isn't seemingly due to a graphics card issue (different video settings do not make any difference) but rather a CPU load issue. The game runs like a drunk dog by the time you have passed level 12... I have a reasonably decent spec PC as it was updated in 2024 (new current CPU, GPU etc). These kind of issues shouldn't be happening! Secondly, the late game (Post level 11) is just an obvious grind made to drag out the game, the tech tree and the story arch. The Story arch is unfinished! It simply stops! So don't expect any conclusion to this game. Whether the developer (Fire Hose Games) just run out of cash, the will to live or whatever - the game isn't ACTUALLY FINISHED DESPITE BEING RELEASED AS 1.0! You Robbed us! Buy another Early Access FHG game? Nope! The Tech Tree is way overly complicated - complexity does not work for it's own sake! The Tech Tree could and should have been slashed in half! Way too many recipes that are largely redundant causing confusion not choice. Lastly, compared to other factory games I've played and enjoyed (Satisfactory, DSP etc) this game just came across as a bodged mess with little coherence and clarity in any of its parts. A bunch of devs throwing their piece of the pie together and wondering why the assembled parts are a MESS. Do yourself a BIG favour - go play one of the other factory games - just NOT this one! It will put you off the genre completely which will be a massive shame!
I love techtonica. yes the most recent reviews are negative. The final chapter does feel a little rushed but the game is complete. Its very similar to satisfactory but with a storyline. If the game is on sale grab it. Dont pay full price. Ive enjoyed the storyline and exploring with my partner.
I am really disappointed in how the devs handled Techtonica. Ever since 1.0 came out the game immediately crashes after a few minutes of gameplay; and since it has been abandoned I have no hope of seeing it fixed. Because of this I cannot give it a positive review. I'm running a decent setup on Windows 11 -- nothing special. However, I can run other games like Satisfactory on High/Ultra settings with zero lag on a 400-hour world/completed game. There's no reason Techtonica should crash right out of the gate on lower settings. If this game is ever updated/fixed then I will reconsider this thumbs down.
Half arse the back end of the road map to 1.0 and then abandon the game in it's crappy state.Any money Firehose has received should be treated as theft.
This game is so horribly optimized, it's not even funny. Im running a AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D and a AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT and playing on minimum settings at 1080p it's maxing out my utilization and temps are getting a little over 80C.
I really liked this game in beta, the large open world was amazing. The change in v1.0, cutting up the game and making it into levels was a real blow. I was looking forward to replaying after 1.0 release, but wasn't able to complete it with the new elevator system. In beta, there was a elevator that lead to the end of the game. I don't understand why they could not have used it to add more content or do all the things the developer stated they wanted to accomplish with what was already in place. I recommend playing this game in a beta format and not in 1.0. My negative review is due to the game changes and not the "abandoned" state. The game is finished, in the eyes of the development team. The game is overall functional and plays well. Not every game needs on-going content.
