If nothing else, it's a wonderful cure for insomnia. So many things about Tears of Avia are absolutely baffling. Why am I receiving equips with +4000 attack or int after the first few battles? Why is the map design so needlessly empty and drawn out? Why do my characters stop learning any skills or upgrades after level 32? What's the point of explorable towns when there are no secrets or otherwise interesting things to do, aside from visit the same 2 shops? Why am I searching for the titular "Tears of Avia" again? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop? I'm only about halfway through the game, but already, I can tell you that there is nothing remotely interesting or well-designed about this game. Battles are awful. Lootgen is awful and outright broken. Character building is awful. The story is cliched and awful. The "exploration" is awful. The only decent thing about Tears of Avia is its graphics. But as I've remarked several dozen times already, with regards to several dozen games: good graphics do not make a good game! I bought this game for 50% off, and even then, it wasn't worth it. It's soulless, uninspired, boring, and a huge waste of time. I've played free RPG Maker and SRPG Studio games which blow this game out of the water. Avoid this game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
🎮Gameplay🎮

🏆Achievements

Einige erfordern das Durchspielen
Einige erfordern Grinding
I love this game very much.
I'm giving this game a thumbs up, but really it's a meh. It's sorta like a B movie, you enjoy it because of how much of a mess it is. The models are alright, but the animations, story, and balance are pretty poor. You'll get gear that increases your damage to 4x the enemies max HP and get 5 levels per scenario. You can pay tons of gold to upgrade your skills by 1 level which adds like ~20 damage, when a new piece of gear will add thousands, so its pretty pointless to do it. If you enjoy just one shotting everything, a meh story, and skipping animations, you might find some enjoyment out of this.
game is meh at best atm, mobs dont move if you not inside their a!"#, and they insanely spread out for no reason making it extremely unfun to guide you character to run around the map and constandly end turn to move very bad design, story is ok i guess nothing interesting about it, combat is also totally off the chart doing 20k dmg but then you have passive that reduce dmg by 1% also very off and the price is not worth it in any way, grap it on summer sale if you want it
You ever get the sense of existential dread when playing a game - not from fear of mortality, impending doom or anything of the sort. I'm talking about the kind that sits in the back of your mind thinking "why am I wasting my time when I could be doing something far more productive?" That weighed heavy during my time with this game. The writing is inane, the story and plot cliched and hackneyed, and the balance is damn near non-existent past the first... thirty minutes or so. That last thing is the nexus of the torment I suffered from this game. You see, this game is ostensibly a tactical RPG - you have a grid in combat, you have stats, skill trees, you have gear. It has all the relevant parts of what it's supposed to be, but throws every single one of those things out the window. Leveling is an exercise in pure mediocrity, as sure, you gain stats and skills from it, but those gains are dwarfed by gains from gear to a level that feels like a joke. You earn a handful of points in each stat on level - I think; however, the game starts barfing loot on you after each level with stats that make gains look miniscule on an exponential level. It's not uncommon to find gear that adds literally thousands of points to multiple stats when without, you'd have maybe 100-150 in said stats at best. Combine this with the fact that the game doesn't really scale enemies up to meet those gains - after all, it's far too easy to just one shot every enemy you come across after the first few maps, it defeats the purpose of even having stats or skills in the first place. On the topic of skills, it gives you three skill trees per character to choose skills from on leveling; why these trees even exist is beyond me, as after a certain point in the game, your characters will have every single skill available to them. It destroys any kind of uniqueness you could have between characters, and with the aforementioned stat inbalance, it gives you very little incentive than to load up every character of a class with the same skills. It gives you plenty of buff/debuff skills - but considering the overwhelming power gap between the player and the enemies they face, there's no reason to use them. This game also has a really bad habit of throwing extremely large maps at you that far outstrip your characters' movement ranges. Large maps can work in tactical RPGs - Fire Emblem does it quite often, so did the Shining Force games. However, those games had characters that could easily traverse large swaths of those maps without need of movement buffs or gear. I slightly take back the thing I said about buffs earlier - this is one absolutely critical one - the movement range buff that mages get. Without this buff, it's not uncommon to spend 5+ turns just trying to get to the next enemy pack that you then one shot. The thing about enemy placement and their AI is that they rarely move an inch unless you're close to them, so more often than not, you're having to hoof it over to them and not the other way around. All this combined together makes for a very boring and very trite gameplay experience. As stated at the beginning of the review, the plot and writing in this game is trope-filled. You're the chosen one meant to gather the macguffins to save the world. That's it - there certainly didn't seem like there was going to be any kind of twists or reveals that would have made it exciting. At least the voice acting was good, but that's the only good thing in this game.
