About

Task Force Admiral Vol.1: American Carrier Battles is a single-player experience centered on the command of an early Pacific War US Navy carrier task force. As the overall commander, you are in charge of seeking the destruction of the enemy naval forces and preventing your opponent, the Japanese Navy, from accomplishing its objectives. To achieve your aims, you have at your disposal the most fearsome sea projection weapon known to Man in 1942: your carrier air groups and the task forces that support them.
As a carrier task force admiral in this pioneering age of air/naval warfare, assume the mantle of retribution in this innovative interpretation of a classic topic, as the first title in a new series that will further explore and develop the genre. Forget about the limitations of the past, and let the best of wargaming and simulation blend and blossom together in this new take on command at sea! Re-live the great battles of the first year of the Pacific War as if you were there yourself. In here there is no dice roll, no artificial skill-tree, no arbitrary stats, selective fog of war or supernatural crystal-clear communications. It is real-time crisis management for you, realism and historicity without concession, as little abstraction as can be, and loads of action, suspense and refreshing gameplay packed in the same single computer software.

As a game made by players of SSG’s Carriers at War, SSI’s Great Naval Battles and MicroProse’s own Task Force & Pacific Air War series, rest assured that the legacy of these classics is still alive and kicking in Task Force Admiral. The gameplay is designed so as to feel familiar to the keepers of this prestigious pantheon – and yet refreshing and appealing to the younger generation looking for the ultimate PTO wargaming experience.

We hope that these high production values will contribute to make Task Force Admiral a breathtaking experience, whether you decide to observe an imminent enemy attack from your command quarters or follow your Dauntless bombers in their lethal dive. Don’t miss one bit of the action thanks to our post-combat 3D replay system, that will allow you to record your deeds and share them with the community.

This is an incredibly immersive game. I really appreciate the historical accuracy and detail, which does not come at the cost of playability. It's the perfect game where you feel the weight of your decisions (when to send your strikes based on incomplete scouting reports, balancing CAP v. escort cover for your bombers, anticipating when to scramble fighters when you have to land returning strikes, etc.), not the burden of managing excessive micro demands. Right now, it's thin on content because the developers are still building the foundation before they add more content. But I think this could be the best naval warfare game, or maybe even the best wargame, I've ever played.

I have played my share of strategy/tactical Pacific Theater WWII games going back into the 60s on both board and PC. This is the first for me to bring the action into 3D. Graphics are great, drama is palpable, and action is rewarding. Still learning the UI. The Devs seem determined to keep the community informed and updates coming. I recommend this game if this genre is of interest.
I enjoy this game very very much, it adds a good WW2 U.S pacific carrier battles and commanding.
please fix the balancing. I want to like this game but it feels like a waste. I catch the enemy with their pants down with 32 dive bombers? doesn't matter. all 32 bombs miss. They retaliate and send an unescorted strike group and my 2 carrier scramble gets launched perfectly with 30 minutes for them to chew through the 30 undefended bombers? They do dumb maneuvers so they end up losing 5 of the 12 plane scramble while only taking down 10 of the bombers. Oh and their bombers have a 50% chance to hit. While mine are 0/32. What a waste of time.
Given that the game's still in development, I'm giving it a strong thumbs up. I'd like to see more advanced damage modeling - secondary fire effects - but that can come down the road. I worked threat simulation modeling for years and there's a lot more important stuff in the development queue before that.
ITS PEAK
This. THIS IS HOW YOU DEVELOP A GAME! Others take note. I'm talking to you Maslas Bros. This team listens, communicates and DELIVERS. It is truly amazing what has been achieved here in early access. The level of attention to detail shows how much love for the subject matter the devs have. And the pace of improvement and refinement updates is impressive.
