About

Task Force Admiral Vol.1: American Carrier Battles is a single-player experience centered on the command of an early Pacific War US Navy carrier task force. As the overall commander, you are in charge of seeking the destruction of the enemy naval forces and preventing your opponent, the Japanese Navy, from accomplishing its objectives. To achieve your aims, you have at your disposal the most fearsome sea projection weapon known to Man in 1942: your carrier air groups and the task forces that support them.
As a carrier task force admiral in this pioneering age of air/naval warfare, assume the mantle of retribution in this innovative interpretation of a classic topic, as the first title in a new series that will further explore and develop the genre. Forget about the limitations of the past, and let the best of wargaming and simulation blend and blossom together in this new take on command at sea! Re-live the great battles of the first year of the Pacific War as if you were there yourself. In here there is no dice roll, no artificial skill-tree, no arbitrary stats, selective fog of war or supernatural crystal-clear communications. It is real-time crisis management for you, realism and historicity without concession, as little abstraction as can be, and loads of action, suspense and refreshing gameplay packed in the same single computer software.

The gameplay is designed so as to feel familiar to the keepers of this prestigious pantheon – and yet refreshing and appealing to the younger generation looking for the ultimate PTO wargaming experience.

The game still has plenty of rough edges. The new Chinese localization is incomplete — briefings are still untranslated — and performance could use more work, with noticeable stutters when switching scenes. Some UI toggles feel awkward, zooming is cumbersome, time acceleration is inconvenient, and enemy detection feels too predictable. Damage control is also far too limited at the moment. A carrier can apparently burn for four hours at sea with very little meaningful player intervention. That said, I still want to give the developers credit for continuing to update the game. The new localization is appreciated, and the formation management system is genuinely good. There is a solid naval aviation game underneath all these issues, and I hope the team keeps improving it.
I LOVE this game, I've been playing pretty much nonstop since I purchased it and have already finished all available campaign missions. For anyone looking into this game, there is a VERY steep learning curve and a lot of things won't make sense unless you keep at it, but once you figure things out it becomes an absolute blast. The game looks stunning and handles very well for early access. I have only a few critiques: First, the AI is sometimes a bit finnickey at times, but more importantly It's not very clear whenever an enemy ship is sunk seeing as there is no indication via in game voicelines or just a message etc, and its also not very clear how functional your own ships are unless you go out of your way to dig through the admin panel and inspect it, however both of these problems are very minor and easily circumvented with maybe 2 minutes max of looking. Outside of these there are a few more minor bugs that will likely be rooted out once this game leaves early access. Absolutely a 10/10 game

10/10 Very good, Has some way to go yet but incredible work so far. Thank you to the whole team for bringing this together. I can get lost all day playing thid. Excited for the whole story mode. Would love a continuous mission mode where the entire pacific theater is at play with convoys, invasions and events.
good job , give it a try
Needs to add a dynamic campaign. but its a great start for a indie game!
It crashes a lot. Generally when there are a lot of assets/things going on. The gameplay is absoklutely fun enough though for it to make it up to me. It also doesn't have a tutorial yet, but for it being early access and it having as many updates as it is getting makes me hopeful it will improve. I will update this if it doesn't though
Ultra realistic graphics, good AI, unique perspective for a strategy game. Game is still being updated with new missions and features being added everyday. I was a backer on the Kickstarter and feel my contribution was very much worth it. I am very excited to see where and how development goes in the coming months. Those complaining about not knowing what to do: watch some YouTube videos to get the basics down and then just keep playing. A lot of you are only playing 1-2hrs before complaining, this is an advanced strategy game, it'll take time for you to learn. I'd recommend Wolfpack's videos showcasing Coral Sea and Midway to learn the controls.
AWESOME GAME AND EVERYTHING BUT MORE MAPS WOULD BE NICE FOR THE PRICE PAYED.
都八月份了 中文呢???
148 hours is crazy considering what content is available, but hear me out. When they expand the manual control to the strike aircraft and warships, it will be on par with the likes of Battlestations Midway & Pacific. I personally keep coming back to it just to see if I can complete the single scenarios without getting a scratch on my carriers. As it stands though, 40 dollars for what content is present, is not worth it. The enemy AI can be wonky at times. For example, I was able to dodge counterstrikes by taking down the enemy spotter planes and changing the course of my task force.(I be cheesing) Even with that being said I still would recommend giving the game a shot anyway. You can always refund it, if you feel it doesn't meet your expectations. Fair warning though, there is a learning curve if you haven't consumed any media on how the game works. I haven't felt this nostalgia since I was a little kid figuring out the battlestations games and blazing angel series. Maybe that said nostalgia is blinding me of faults that others might find in the games current state. In conclusion though, if you liked what you saw in the beta, purchase the game. Try it out. I have faith that Drydock games will deliver a product that rivals the likes of Battlestations Midway and Pacific.
