Ignore my playtime, i bought this game again for Steam to see if i was gonna like it again or... i really wish that was the case. Tales of Vesperia is a nice JRPG and worth the praise it got over the years but however no matter how much i play it, how many hours i poured it in, i never like it for one bit. The story, yeah the first issue people always talking about, is it gets too confusing and boring from the late beginning to the end, it maybe somewhat has a nice beginning for a premise of a story but it gets extremely boring and if i get a break from gaming for work for a few days, i always forgot what point was i on and nothing make sense for me as it is just forgettable like that. For gameplay, yeah it get a while for you to get weapon skills, several arcane artes, altered artes for you to chain in your combos and it's honestly fun to experiment your playstyles and such except for several other issues like i already mentioned as it gets too long for you to get some real fun. Early game, mid game ultimately sucks because of how much things are limited, early game artes are crap. Worse TP system is abysmal, you can have full TP then after like 3-4 random encounters, you will most likely to run dry with your character, changing characters, learning how to use them and manage your Orange Gel is crucial in this game, because you will run dry, a lot, and this issue goes up to late game but less frustrating. But still, it disrupt the flows a lot and this is the main issue, i don't want to spam regular attacks to "have fun" then it run dry like hell after you go with the "boring way" for like 4 random battles to heal TP as well as to conserving resources. Characters, yeah sing the praise for Yuri since people already play this game can say the same thing for him, not just me. The others? Few interesting, one is just a straight up bratty little ♥♥♥♥, so nothing surprising, nothing feel attached, just plain, good old Tales cast. I don't want to make this review too long so i will just cut it short and say the battle music is horrendous as well, everything else in the game is nice. Before i get clowned by Tales hardcore and say i have no taste because i dare to not like the holy grail that is Vesperia. Never in a million years i would play this again.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Great Tales game. Now I understand why Yuri is the most popular Tales MC.
Classic JRPG. Tales series best part is their skits. Make the party feel cohesive with each character interact with each other, not just party member-protag interaction only. Long game with long final dungeon, lovable bunch ragtags joining together to save the world while bonding and bickering with each other, certified JRPG
7/10 The good: - World design and fast travel options. - Story and characters are interesting. Characters have meaningful interaction with each other and as a team. - There are a total of 8 companions in addition to the hero, and you can select which 4 are active at any given time (barring times when they are not present, of course). - Combat is well handled. You can make things as simple or as complicated as you want. - After the final boss, you can either continue to explore and wrap up loose ends, or start a New Game +. OK: - Inventory and crafting, often a weak point in RPG's, is OK, but could be improved with more inventory sorting options. - Cartoon-style graphics are fine. Expressions are lifeline and entertaining. The bad: - Side quests! There are a lot of these, which is not by itself a problem, but they are atrociously handled: - It's not always clear when they start, and there is no indication of any kind in the UI while they are active, apart from the actual events as they happen. The lack of map markers is a design choice, and some players prefer the challenge of operating without them. However, you can't even see what has been said about them after the conversation is over. Either you have to have a very good memory, or you have to stop and write down the details at the time at the time the dialogs appear, which is ridiculously tedious. - You can often not make this easier by suspending everything else and just focusing on the side quest to completion, because of a complicated and completely hidden and nonsensical set of triggers that allow it to advance. - Most of them are not actually interesting: they add little to the story, and the rewards usually have no relevance to game play. However, there are exceptions, and if you just ignore all of the side quests, you can miss some good stuff. - Finally, many of them expire or fail to start, depending on triggers that are silent and unpredictable. (Of course, you can always use a walkthrough, but where's the fun in that?) The bottom line: I don't regret the time spent playing it, but I'm a bit frustrated at the lost opportunity of more enjoyment that could have been had with minimal development effort.
Repede.
