Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of The Rings™ Game

Don't buy this if you care about your PC. It runs 30-40 FPS while having 2005 graphics and your PC will sound like a plane trying to take off, even on the lowest settings. For comparison all modern games run at 100+ FPS on at least medium-high settings and the fans are not trying to fly off the case too. Too bad, as this could've been a nice cozy game but it's hard to chill while stressing out about your hardware.

Tales of the Shire é um jogo acolhedor e relaxante que captura muito bem o espírito do Condado. Ele se destaca pela atmosfera leve, pelos visuais encantadores e pela sensação constante de tranquilidade, oferecendo uma experiência semelhante a outros “cozy games”, mas com o charme único do universo de O Senhor dos Anéis. As atividades, como jardinagem, culinária e interação com os moradores, são simples, porém prazerosas, e transmitem exatamente a rotina pacata de um hobbit. O ponto forte do jogo é a imersão: trilha sonora suave, personagens simpáticos e uma ambientação fiel à Terra-média. Por outro lado, quem procura desafios, narrativa profunda ou mecânicas complexas pode achar o ritmo lento demais. Ainda assim, para jogadores que buscam descanso, criatividade e uma vida tranquila em um mundo fantástico, Tales of the Shire entrega exatamente o que promete: um refúgio aconchegante no coração do Condado.

I am strictly talking about the gameplay and style of this game and not the technical aspects of it. For a cozy game I think it received a little too much hate, probably because the LOTR franchise attracted a lot of players not used to or not fans of this genre. As someone who exclusively plays this genre, I cannot help but appreciate the fact that it took a core aspect of hobbits and made an entire mechanic for it, bringing something completely new with the cooking and socializing part. I really enjoy it, I think it deserved a bit of praise for introducing something new and not going with the classic and overused formula: farming -> gifts to villagers ->grind and repeat. Also I really like that the game is not too grindy, that it does not have fast travel and the map is pretty big and the landscape it relatively cute. Could it have been voice acted? Yeeeep. Could they have done a better job....honestly yes, the graphics are a little rudimentary, the optimisation is bad and it looks a bit too choppy on the steamdeck. I think its worth playing tho, it is a relaxingly cute time. In the beginning the price was pretty steep, now its fine but still a little too high but if you catch a discount I would recommend getting it.

I don't want to be an adult in 2025, I want to be a hobbit living in the Shire tending to my garden, fishing and cooking meals for my friends.

Honestly, best cozy game I've played in a loooong time. The pacing is great, there is always something to do, & as a foodie- getting different recipes, cooking recipes, & obtaining most of the ingredients for said recipes by exploring is a plus for me. Makes the cooking feel more fun & I don't see many games that do that. Also the character development is another plus for me, especially with other hobbits in the area. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this game & I will always go back to it when I just want to mentally relax. Definately a game that helps with stress relief for me, imo. 1000/1000 <3 c:

Ein sehr süßes und entschleunigtes Spiel. Meiner Meinung nach sind die negativen Rezensionen vermutlich primär auf den großen Hype vor Veröffentlichung und die (zu) hohen Erwartungen von Lord-of-the-Rings-Fans zurückzuführen. Das Spiel ist nicht perfekt und hat seine Ecken und Kanten, ist aber dennoch seit langem das erste Spiel, in dem ich wirklich viel Spaß hatte, ohne, dass es in Arbeit ausartete.
