Fight, sneak, and hack your way through randomly generated cities. It's like Nuclear Throne meets Deus Ex, mixed with the anarchy of GTA. Rogue-lite meets immersive sim, and goes completely insane.

About
Streets of Rogue is a rogue-lite about player choice, freedom, and anarchic fun. The game takes inspiration from fast-paced top-down rogue-lites like Binding of Isaac and Nuclear Throne, and adds free-form, experimentation-driven, emergent gameplay elements of RPGs like Deus Ex.
Rather than taking place in a dungeon, the game is set in a functioning, procedurally generated city, where complex AI informs denizens from all walks of life, who are just trying to get by in their daily activities.
In order to progress, the player will need to accomplish specific mission goals in any way they see fit through use of their special character traits, items, and the environment.
Will you play as a soldier who shoots first and asks questions later?
A stealthy doctor who uses chloroform and tranquilizer darts to silently take down the opposition?
A genial bartender who can talk his way past the most intimidating of guards?
Or how about a hyper-intelligent gorilla, rescuing other caged gorillas to form a small mobilized gorilla army?

An extremely fun little roguelite. There are many characters to choose from, and they all play differently, for the most part. I am not much of a roguelite guy myself, but I find myself coming back to this game just to play a new character. The art's decent, gets the job done. the music is banging but I feel it could have more tracks, more variation. Balancing is kind of weird, especially as you go onto the later levels, but the overpowered gear and strategies is part of the game's fun. This goes both ways though, as you could die to unavoidable circumstances just because you're unlucky. RNG is the run killer, doubly so if you're hunting achievements. I was a bit disappointed playing the second game's playtest, even in its extremely WIP state I could sense that the game was going in a much more different direction than I anticipated. But it does not diminish the joyful timewaster that is SoR1
Pretty fun. Spent plenty of hours on it. Game's simple enough that you can play through it blindly with only the tutorial to tell you how things work and even then you'll have no problem navigating through the rest of the game doing who knows what. And guess what, you can do it again in multiple ways making sure that the gameplay loop doesn't get old.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.17/day in the week to Aug 5 → 2.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Such a chaotic Game, yet it is So good, i couldn't stop till i've finished every Big quest it has, both the base and the DLCs, the only roguelike i actually enjoy alot, Can't wait for the Open-world sequel game that is Streets of Rogue 2.
I have a soft spot for Streets of Rogue, and there's no better time to review it than in anticipation of the sequel. Streets of Rogue is a very different game than what I expected from the screenshots, or after playing the tutorial. I'm not sure, I guess I expected something more handhold-y or narrative driven—or maybe I expected something LESS linear, like the sequel is going to be? I'm not really sure what I expected, just that what I got surprised me. You have missions, progress through stages, level up, and receive rewards and traits like a linear game, but have a high degree of freedom on how you complete those missions a not insignificant amount of which being based on what class you chose to play, which adds an element of roleplay. And honestly, childish as it may sound, the roleplay is one of my favorite things about this game that makes it feel so good to play. I like picking a class and then deciding for myself why my character is there. The game has a loose and unexplored narrative where you're a member of a political insurrectionist movement, and that's why your ultimate goal is to supplant the mayor. And so, when you pick a class, it's up to you to decide WHY your character would ever do such a thing. If you're a hyperintelligent gorilla, why are you trying to become the new mayor? For gorillakind? If you're a zombie, what are you even doing there? Were you released as a bioweapon to sweep the slums? These are the kinds of things I'm thinking about while I'm walking around, breaking into peoples' apartments, and taking ham sandwiches from their fridge. It's like a roguelike imm-sim played from the topdown. Fascinating stuff and not much else plays quite like it. It will not leave you with a shortage of things to experiment with.
Fun game, great music. Replay value
I played the absolute hell out of this game, I had never enjoyed such a cute 64-bit game in never. If you want a roguelite that repeats INFINITELY and a multitude of different characters and playstyles this is the game, this is the arcade gta that I always wanted on my computer. To break into peoples homes and steal their sandwiches and grab their fridges and throw it at them, or gambling over and over and over to get as much money as I want, destroy everything AND everyone so that I feel stronger, drug myself up to become a monster. Or just become monkey because thats real gameplay 11/10 would shove a banana up my gorilla's oriface again. Oh yea theres also multiplayer which makes it even funnier.
