About

In a modern fantasy world, college dropout Grace is granted the power of a Muse - power she’ll need to find out the truth behind her predecessor’s death before time runs out. You’ll decide who Grace allies with, who she can trust, and who may betray her in this beautifully hand-illustrated roleplaying musical.
Written by David Gaider comes Stray Gods - an urban fantasy tale of finding your place, taking charge of your fate, and discovering answers. Your choices will change the endings, as well as the path you take to get there.
A compelling story of hope, self-discovery, and forging your path.
Adventure, love, and songs await!
Charm, negotiate, or strong-arm your way through their world as Grace, playing through original, fully interactive musical numbers composed by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, Tripod (musicians Scott Edgar, Steven Gates, and Simon Hall) and Eurovision Australia’s own Montaigne (Jess Cerro). Fully orchestrated and performed by an all-star cast, you’ll feel as though you’re right there on the stage. With thousands of potential variations based on your choices, you’ll craft the soundtrack to your own one of a kind musical experience.
Choice and consequence built from the DNA of RPGs - no two playthroughs are the same.
Delve into a hidden world of mythic Greek gods and monsters as you get to know a cast of hilarious, enigmatic, and compelling characters. Forget what you know about these mythological beings - in Stray Gods you’ll forge friendships and find foes with many familiar names, but not so familiar stories. Play as star and stagehand as you determine the story you want to tell through conversation and song.
Find friendship, love, or yourself.
Build friendships with mortals and Gods alike. Stoke the fires of romance if you so choose - explore, pursue, and confess your love with four potential paramours. Decide who you want to be through every choice. David Gaider’s storytelling and characters come to life with performances by an all-star cast, with the likes of Laura Bailey, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and more cast members across video games, television, and Broadway.
A musical for video game lovers, and a video game for musical lovers.
With all the comedy and tragedy of your favorite stage shows, Stray Gods is a tongue-in-cheek and heartfelt reconception of Greek mythology combining what we love about contemporary musical theater with video games where character and story take center stage. Collaborating with some of the best in music, broadway, television, and games - Stray Gods is a debut not to be missed.

This game is one of a kind. Stray Gods is a choose your own musical 🤯 Choices and consequences, characters and romances, music and singing / voice acting are all excellent. I enjoyed it so much I started a second playthrough immediately after finishing the game - that's when I realized just how much the music changes depending on your choices. Not just the lyrics, but the melody, accompanying instruments, sometimes even genre. You effectively get an almost entirely new song! Every. Single. Time. I keep replaying it over and over again and I can't even choose which decision, which romance, and which version of each song I prefer. I wish I'd bought it sooner.
Somewhat fun, but ultimately not a game, this is barely even a visual novel. It is a musical with barely a good song in it. The Greek mythology aspect was fun, but all the DEI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kind of overshadowed it for me. The writing was good, even great at times, and the voice acting was accordingly more than solid. These two factors are the "game's" biggest saving grace. There's DLC, but I couldn't make myself go through it after finishing the game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The music in this musical is mid at best and this gritty take on Greek mythology would be milquetoast to a preteen. I can't say much about the game since I don't see the point in playing a musical with lame music and lamer storytelling. I'm disappointed as a lover of folklore and mythology. I might as well watch Disney's Hercules (1997). The music is at least listenable and the story has some semblance to the heart of the mythology. I guess it's more about easily-recognizable public domain characters and self-indulgent storytelling than how the mythology relates to the world at large. If you can't create your own characters and story, you can always plug the Greek gods into your bad story with bad music and now it's much more marketable!
someone please tell gaider he's allowed to think of the repercussions of his own worldbuilding for more than two seconds, because when the player inevitably does the game turns into unintended existential horror.
I wish this game was better than it is (the musical numbers are so so for the most part, the writing flipflops between okay and poor,), there is some missed potential here. However, it is not bad, and I want to support it so hopefully others (or even the same people) try again to do something similar.
I loved the story of this game. The choices you make have deep impact on how it all unfolds. Oddly enough I'd say the musical part of this game is the weakest aspect. Most songs are ok at best and just plain bad at worse. Still I loved the characters, voice acting and story. I just groaned a little every time a song started.

I'm glued to this game, it's fantastic. I don't know why recent reviews are mixed, but this game is living rent free in my mind, heart, and soul. It's very much a visual novel rather than rpg, but the story is so interesting and the characters are well written, with an amazing cast. I think it's worth the price, if you're a greek mythology and/or musical lover, but as I'm none of them it still caught my full attention. I fell in love with the music, sure some sequences could be reworked in my opinion and the voice actors trying to sing at the same time sometimes doesn't work the way they intended to (there's a sequence in a song where an important voice cracks almost twice, don't know why they kept that), but overall it's a great game to play with friends (watching together). The casting is on spot! I would love to see a sequel of this game (and not just the DLC, which is also really cool). Round of applause to everyone who worked on this game and gave their whole passion into it! Speaking of content, the songs are well balanced (across the acts), it has an intriguing system for the music choices, and the romances are a really nice touch to the game that makes it feel complete. The protagonist is so fun, love exploring the dialogues and choices to scratch the surface of their (her) backstory. As of bugs, they're rare, the only bugs I've got are audio getting cut off (dialogue and music) and choices not showing up (softlocking at dialogue) but a quick return to menu fixes it (Edit: Forgot to mention, you'll probably see a couple scenes not loading up properly and thus looking a bit weird as in empty, it happened to me in about four songs). Not every game is perfect, and Stray Gods doesn't force you believe it is.
Great! PS: for everyone - this is not a game, there is no gameplay, this is an interactive musical comic, and as musical comic it is awesome!
I'm not tearful! It's just a brick in my eye, alright? Fine! I whimpered a little... What else did you expect from me? I cried over Grease's Sandy. It's a low bar already! And here we have the Hellenic pantheon stamped on a funfair for my indulgence, with a delicious musical treat inside! Such a treat it was! If Grace is the Muse, you're the musical maestro who is setting the stage, the tone, and the outcomes of the songs. You're the game equivalent of the Moirai (Charming, Kickass, and Clever) who weave through musical genres to set the characters' fates. The idea and dare are enough for me to recommend it despite its shortcomings. Still... Truth be told, I found none, except for the absence of the master of drama himself. There were a few Dionysus bombs here and there, but it wasn't enough to reach my full catharsis.
Low bar, remember?
