About

In a modern fantasy world, college dropout Grace is granted the power of a Muse - power she’ll need to find out the truth behind her predecessor’s death before time runs out. You’ll decide who Grace allies with, who she can trust, and who may betray her in this beautifully hand-illustrated roleplaying musical.
Written by David Gaider comes Stray Gods - an urban fantasy tale of finding your place, taking charge of your fate, and discovering answers. Your choices will change the endings, as well as the path you take to get there.
A compelling story of hope, self-discovery, and forging your path.
Adventure, love, and songs await!
Charm, negotiate, or strong-arm your way through their world as Grace, playing through original, fully interactive musical numbers composed by Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory, Tripod (musicians Scott Edgar, Steven Gates, and Simon Hall) and Eurovision Australia’s own Montaigne (Jess Cerro). Fully orchestrated and performed by an all-star cast, you’ll feel as though you’re right there on the stage. With thousands of potential variations based on your choices, you’ll craft the soundtrack to your own one of a kind musical experience.
Choice and consequence built from the DNA of RPGs - no two playthroughs are the same.
Delve into a hidden world of mythic Greek gods and monsters as you get to know a cast of hilarious, enigmatic, and compelling characters. Forget what you know about these mythological beings - in Stray Gods you’ll forge friendships and find foes with many familiar names, but not so familiar stories. Play as star and stagehand as you determine the story you want to tell through conversation and song.
Find friendship, love, or yourself.
Build friendships with mortals and Gods alike. Stoke the fires of romance if you so choose - explore, pursue, and confess your love with four potential paramours. Decide who you want to be through every choice. David Gaider’s storytelling and characters come to life with performances by an all-star cast, with the likes of Laura Bailey, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and more cast members across video games, television, and Broadway.
A musical for video game lovers, and a video game for musical lovers.
With all the comedy and tragedy of your favorite stage shows, Stray Gods is a tongue-in-cheek and heartfelt reconception of Greek mythology combining what we love about contemporary musical theater with video games where character and story take center stage. Collaborating with some of the best in music, broadway, television, and games - Stray Gods is a debut not to be missed.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Absolutely adored this game! The music is amazing and I adore the art style! The story was incredible. 10/10
The courage to be joyful is something we'll build over time
I got this on humble bundle some time ago and never gave it a look. But now that i have, im actually sorry i waited. Such wonderful story telling, the sound track is splendid. If it is lurking in your library like it was mine, give it a try
If you are a Laura Bailey fan, or a fan of musical visual novels, then this is for you. I would hesitate to call this a game cos its more of an interactive story. A good story with cool characters and the musical twist is kinda awesome. NOTE - If you have functional vision, you can play this as it is fully voiced and has audio descriptions as well as timed choice removal. Also has option for subtitle sizes and you can pause the game at any point by pressing spacebar. The game also supports windows magnifier, which you will need in order to read the dialogue choices. The game dos not have menu narration or support NVDA so wouldn't recommend it if you were completely blind.
"Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical" isn't a game. It's an e-book dumped on Steam masquerading as a game, designed for Nintendo Switch handhelds and consoles. As a visual novel/e-book/fan-fiction, this has no notable gameplay. It's just clicking through badly written dialogue, in this case semi-professionally written and a fine demonstration that Bioware games are successful for a lot more than just the storylines, because storyline is all you get here and it's a chore. In fairness this e-book has a (very mediocre) musical soundtrack as the author tried to use Steam to publish a musical e-book, because when you think about what it means to be a PC gamer, it's not playing Counter-Strike, it's listening to badly mixed and recorded singing while clicking through a high school fan-fiction about Neil Gaiman's American Gods. That's a little tongue-in-cheek but not far off the mark. The idea is that the protagonist is chosen as a "Muse" by some gods and has to sing about LGBTQIAHDTV+ issues. The e-book works like a "Choose Your Own Adventure", don't be mislead by the somewhat false premise that this is is an RPG... this is not a game, and there's no roleplaying mechanics. Authors should try to understand what a game is before pretending their e-books are games. Nobody flipped their way through a Choose Your Own Adventure book and then said "Wow, what a great game I just played". Ok, the presentation of this e-book is better than average... but there's no prizes for being the most handsome guy in the burns ward. And if you gave me a copy of Stephanie Meyer's Twilight, I don't really care if it's an autographed, leather bound copy, it's still going in the incinerator. Visual novels are tedious at best. Imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or Twilight (kidding), but translate it to a format where you've to click your mouse for every single sentence instead of just turning pages. You'd think it was garbage. The graphics aren't great. Mildly animated, but otherwise purely static 2D Wacom tablet comic book images. That will understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers. Gaming is a primarily visual medium, and if developers want to succeed, they must understand that it's not an area for compromise. You deserve better than compromises. While there are options to change the resolution for the E-Book, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the E-Book, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. Let's talk about pricing and the actual value this has for gamers. Is this E-Book better than any of the 175,000+ actual games on Steam? Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical has the ridiculous, laughable price of $30 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. For comparison, the $30 asking price for this E-Book could get you games like "Sekiro Shadows Die Twice", "Dark Souls III" or "Mount and Blade 2 Bannerlord". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this. The quality problems and defects with this E-Book makes the asking price totally unrealistic. It's impossible to recommend this to gamers here on Steam. $30 for a Nintendo Switch e-book that might as well have been a Youtube video. Who do they think we are???
Just finished my first playthrough and I had an absolute blast. I originally picked this up because I like musicals and enjoyed Gaider's works in the past, so I am happy that Stray Gods did not let me down. The writing is engaging and all main characters are intriguing and 3-dimmensional. It helped that the voice actors did a phenomenal job, they breathed life into these characters (although the mixing was a bit weak here and there). I did not want to tear myself away from the screen for the entirety of my 6 hours long playthrough anyway. Had a few solid moments where I did not realize what the story had in store for me until it smacked me right in the face. The soundtrack was pretty solid, I loved being able to build the songs through my choices, 10/10 creative decision that. Oddly enough for a musical, some of the songs did not entirely land for me, but I enjoyed myself overall. This game clearly has a high replay value, and I plan to do exactly that. 9/10, can absolutely recommend if you like choice-based visual novels (or not! they are not my cup of tea either usually tbh and yet here we are) and if you like musicals with charismatic casts that you cannot quite figure out until the very end.
