About

Feel your pulse quicken while piloting your 150,000t warship between asteroids in the vacuum of space in real time. All with fully simulated physics.

Balance material requirements with power, tonnage, and size while building your fleet to maximum efficiency, piece by piece, module by module. Will you create a large number of smaller, more nimble vessels or double down on a massive station packed with firepower?

Harvest and process valuable materials from asteroids for your profit margins, or use the bountiful resources for the maintenance and expansion of your own mercenary fleet while doing missions for the highest bidders in the sector.

Research for new modules and tools to keep expanding your fleet of ships and mining stations. Build link gates to gain access to new riches in new sectors of space.

The more you mine, the more you build and the greedier you get, the higher your heat signature becomes. Once it reaches critical levels, the aliens will detect you. Defend your fleet at all costs using defense systems and ships of your design.

this is the type of game you go for when you are tired of same 3 titles from the last decade.. "early access" and "unfinished" are generously posted. it takes some brain power, critical thinking, and patience. on the same hand, it's gritty, unrefined and has an appeal that every other comic style mindless arcade game lost when gaming became "too hard" for the modern player. does it need a better tutorial? immediately. the controls should be better explained even though you can clearly and easily find the layouts. yes its rough around the edges and a little clunky with blueprinted ships but again i point to early access and unfinished. all of the basics, the slow burn, the general ambience and feel, the foundation is there and it has huge potential.
What happened? It's like the got to Early Access then updates and communications vanished. I was quiet enjoying it. Physics was a bit different and stuff felt rightly heavy. Very slow pace which rewarded going carefully. So I can see it wouldn't be everyone's thing, but why abandon it after EA release? Smells a bit fishy. I feel slightly cheated.

I usually dont write reviews but seeing recent reviews only being mixed i had to. Going through the negative ones it is usually about bugs, too slow pace, bad controls, too complex hud / bad tutorial. Bugs: All I can say about bugs is that i had none in my 25 hour playtime. slow pace: I really cant agree with people saying its too slow pace. If you only control one ship then yes, it is very slow. But you can build multiple ships early on and make them do different things. I built different mining ships, a production base and always had something to do. After i figured out how to build multiple ships, there was not a single time where just spectated and had nothing to do. bad controls: It is a bit more complex than other games, but i quickly got used to it. i had a few missclicks here and there in the beginning but for me it was not a problem after some time. too complex hud / bad tutorial: The tutorial is not good yet. I had to google a few times and didnt really figure out some parts in the beginning. So this can defenitly be frustrating for players who do not enjoy testing out some stuff or being stuck at first because it lacks explanation. I sometimes had to tediously figure out things by just trying it and see if it works how i imagine it will work. Why I enjoyed the game: I spend most my time building different stations and ships because that is where the game really shines for me. I am a huge fan of building whatever comes to my mind (eg. in Enshrouded or Satisfactory). Due to its modular building you can build whatever you want. I also enjoyed the process of testing your ships and optimizing them based on how good or bad they performed. It feels very satisfying to see your ships in action. The atmosphere and graphics are nice. I currently wait for the full game or bigger updates because the tech tree is not that deep yet. However i really enjoyed my 25 hours of gameplay and cant wait to play it again in the future.
Controls need revamped, this is impossible. Fly with W A S D (Foward, Backward, Strafe Left and Right) Hold shift plus the above to Pitch Up, Pitch Down, Rotate Left Rotate Right Q and E RAISE and LOWER add shift and they Roll Left, Roll Right..... It's tedious, and horrible.
I wanted to like this game, but I couldn't. Controls and slow pace is just beyond my understanding of fun gameplay.
Was and still am hyped for Starminer, but as it stands right now, it seems to be a game of slightly above average complexity that fakes (intentionaly or not) being hardcore due to absolutely convoluted UI and control scheme. You have like 3 or 4 different control methods to pilot your ships while a single one would suffice if they actualy did it right. Maaaybe 2 if you count the autopilot. And it's not like there aren't other newtonian-based games that do this much better. And it goes on and on onto other gameplay mechanics as well, where stuff seems to be added just to be there instead of being a meaningful part of the whole. Currently Starminer seems to be a mishmash of mechanics with very little "game" in between all of them. I really cheer for the devs to make this right, but as of now - Back to Starsector, I guess.
Game is ok, it looks good on a decent rig. The issue here is there is no game, as in we have a nice looking system but no actual game, the campaign leads you around but it also gives you everything... there is no get stuff here, the game just gives you everything. The core and systems of the game is great, you are suppose to earn stuff by mining and salvaging... but the game just rushes you around... its a shame as the game core is fun. My opinion ? I think the devs made cool concepts and ideas, then a mate asked where is the actual game... and here we get a mad rush of a game.
My older brother bought this game for my birthday, was super excited to play it but the spacecraft controls are quite annoying, its really a shame because this game had everything I been wanting. I had high hopes for the game and I hope in the future the game will change for the better, I barely played and still felt like the game was missing a lot. Also just couldn't play any longer then 16 minutes because of the messed up controls, but that's probably because I thought it would be much better. I kept trying it but my brain just kept rejecting it. I do like the idea I just don't like how it was executed personally, the visuals were amazing but everything else for me was just tedious. Safe to say, don't buy it if you don't like slow paced games.
Oh hell no avoid this game. It is the most abysmal creation on steam. It looks all pretty but these devs have NEVER played a video game in thier entire lives. This is a game made by someone who woke up one day, saw how much money is in gaming and threw so trash together. The campaign, holy crap never seen anything this bad. Game starts you in a ship. Tells you go do things but oh by the way you need to figure out every little aspect of how meaning go watch some slobs in basements on youtube and MAYBE they will breeze over the 1 thing you cant figure out. Get to the place where you take over a large ship and game tells you "hey idiot, now you own the ship so fly to it and dock" and all you need to do with fly to a green square and click a button. Oh but the button never shows up. 2 hours I sat trying to dock on this damn ship waiting for a button with the most unintuitive game ever created only to just give up. Videos just blow through so you cant see anything and even if you can they seem to all be damn germans. This game is bad in all regards. They assembled some cash, hired some interns and threw together something and pushed it out for money. I cant even say if the concept is good. You just cant do anything without 30 minute video search. Spent 99% of the money on looks and movement and 1% on actual UI and making sure the damn thing even worked. Do not touch this game, do not waste your time.
I don't know why people are having such a bad time with this game. Tutorials are a bit "Heavy" on text and you will have to read a lot, but they are quite comprehensive and fairly easy to understand. I REALLY enjoy space physics in this game. It is executed very very well. The only issue i found so far is that i feel like there is no actual difficulty in progressing, at least so far into the campaign. I gotta give the game infinite bonus points just for how gorgeous ships and ship parts look. Like. WOW. If you like "hard sci-fi" space ships, definetely try this game!
