good
Starbound I will be honest is a mixed bag for me. Contrary to others I'll begin off with the things that left me disappointed in this game that way I can at least end on a positive note. To begin I'll be talking about how the story is carried out and then move onto other points that I found difficult to cope with. Now when I refer to the story I am not talking about the overall theme but instead how it is actually completed. The story of some ancient evil planet monster waking up and wiping out earth and you waking up on an alien planet are interesting enough as is. But the way you progress said story is in the form of what is essentially a string of RNG fetch quests. These quests require you to search through planets that meet certain criteria in the hopes of locating settlements of different races to scan local artifacts. This is where things can get a bit annoying as you won't know if there is a settlement till you've searched an ENTIRE PLANET which takes multiple minutes of just walking in hopes of finding something. You have to do this for each race and it is the least creative quest design ever. But unfortunately even when you do find these settlements your interactions with the races are fairly limited as there isn't any sort of story arc with each race its just a pretty much one and done move onto the next race. What's also unfortunate is once the string of fetch quests is complete and you kill the BBEG there is pretty much no after besides dungeons. The only saving graces are at the ending of each fetch quest where you get to actually feel like you are progressing the story with characters from the different races. But the enjoyment from those are short lived as your realize you are in for more hours of planet searching. Moving on the achievements for this game are ridiculous the one todo with figurines is essentially just an infinite time sink and there are plenty of other time waster achievements like jarring critters etc. Overall for the main story I think the developers really dropped the ball it had potential but was wasted. Just one main quest doesn't feel like its enough for this game, I think each race should have its own main quest and that instead of just small settlements you find on random planets you should be able to explore home worlds for each race. I just feel there is so much wasted potential with this game that the developers could have capitalized on if they had put in more time and effort. Which can pretty much describe the game as a whole that being an idea with potential without the elbow grease to make it shine. Moving to the positives, the very first thing I want to appreciate is the character customization, being able to play as different races really lets you get creative and there is lots of different options for each races. The different races are all fairly unique as well for example with their cultures you have the Glitch with their medieval castles and the Apex with their science laboratories. There are plenty more, and each are very unique and you can spend lots of time just hanging around the settlements soaking up the atmosphere(soundtracks are decent) or looting everything they possess lol. Another aspect of the game that I enjoyed greatly was the gameplay progression things such as upgrading your ship, building your mech, and the different technologies you could equip. One of my favorite things to use was the spike ball tech which could let you get away with a lot of shenanigans in dungeons and boss fights. I also appreciate the different unique weapons you could find and the combat for the most part also felt good which usually make or breaks a lot of games and found myself enjoying a lot of the boss fights. Overall the gameplay itself was fun and each race was very unique and clearly had a lot of time put into each and theses are the biggest reasons I come back to this game from time to time. Now in conclusion, I'd say this game is only worth purchase if it is on sale while I can't promise you'll get hundreds of hours out of it I can say that depending on the person you might find enjoyment in this game in niche areas of the game or disappoint in knowing it could have been better overall.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Прикольная игра похожая на террарию, понравилась также как и террария. Минусы, что квесты у персонажей немножка однотипные - а так хорошая игра мне понравилась. 7\10
Honestly no idea why so many people say this game is worse than starbound, its far better, especially when just adding one mod, Frackin Universe.
