About
Starbase is a massively multiplayer online game with gameplay focused on building and designing spaceships and stations, exploration, resource gathering, crafting, trading, and combat.
Set in a universe of vast scale and detail, the fully-destructible environment and hybrid voxel/vertex-based game mechanics enable simulations in Starbase at immense depth, giving players the ultimate freedom to exploit their innovativeness and creativity. From constructing spaceships that can endure the hazards of space, such as collision and corrosive damages, to creating massive automated factories and designing electricity and data networks, the players are free to do it their own way.

A single persistent Universe - Play and interact online with thousands of players and start shaping the world with your fellow robots.
Build, fight, chat and group up with other players to discover and settle the vast galaxy that is waiting for its first conquerors to make their mark.
Mine asteroids by yourself, trade and haul cargo with your friends, or build a station with a huge company.
Success in Starbase is not measured in hours played or an endless grind, but in the ingenuity of each player and their ability to work together.

The environment in Starbase is fully destructible, made possible by a mixture of voxel and fracture damage - Everything can be destroyed or disassembled with the right kind of tools and weaponry.
The in-depth physics simulation enabled by hybrid voxel/vertex-based game mechanics make fights, exploration and flying spaceships a creative paradise
The simulation of structural and elemental durability in the game adds its own twist and challenge to the efforts to conquer space; poorly designed superstructures combined with overpowered steering thrusters can snap the spaceships in half if cutting corners too much in a space race.
Note: Station destruction will be added in the September Siege Mechanics Update

Design and build your spaceship, stations and devices down to the tiniest detail, and live the spaceship designer dream by selling your blueprints.
The smallest building unit in Starbase is a single bolt, allowing you to build, repair and modify spaceships, stations, and devices as you wish.
Even the smallest ships have thousands of parts, each with their own detailed damage model, making building and designing a truly creative process.
Learning to use the in-game programming chips will take building and designing to a new level; innovation, automation of ships and creating clever ship layouts will make all the difference!

Engage in seamless FPS and spaceship combat with thousands of players simultaneously.
Fly solo or crew up with others to divide roles and responsibilities.
Creative thinking, crazy ideas and daring maneuvers can turn the tide of battles!

Explore the infinitely expanding universe, and discover stations, asteroid fields, spaceship wrecks, social hubs and fellow travelers.
Arrange an exploration mission with friends and find out what's hidden in the depths of space and the faraway moons
Beware of pirates and unknown dangers when venturing into the uncharted territories!

Mine raw minerals from asteroids and salvage different parts from broken ships, trade your salvaged goods at trading stations, or steal from others if that floats your (space)boat.
Buy, sell and trade ship parts, materials, weapons, tools, ammo, designs, and invent new ways of earning credits in a player driven economy.
Form friendships and alliances, group up with others and establish factions to build massive stations and tackle the most difficult hurdles space has to offer.

Starting station safe zones safeguard the new player experience
Dynamic safe zones configurable on player-owned stations
Starbase is developed with Frozenbyte’s internal game engine that is custom-built for conquering space, enabling the use of extremely challenging combination of voxel and vertex technologies in the game. The modern engine has been built specifically with Starbase in mind and the engine’s architecture is designed to handle all the quirks of simulation, damage, building, player amounts and the ever-growing universe to match the challenges the ambitious vision of the game can pose. Similarly, all features of the game have been developed with the infinite scale and the creative freedom of the players in mind.
Starbase has been in secret development for five years without restraints and the development will continue until the game’s bold vision is achieved. In the ever-expanding space the scale can range from the unit of one bolt to massive space station structures, with exploration missions varying from journeys to nearby asteroid fields, to salvaging ship debris, and eventually to other galaxies.
In Starbase players are given the freedom to build the kind of universe they want to, and a small group of players can eventually form large factions that challenge the powers that be. Being inventive will also help, as cleverness often triumphs over brute force in Starbase, and the only limitation is the creativity of the players.
Starbase Early Access will introduce the players, the pioneers, to a new galaxy that they can begin to explore from a bunch of huge stations located at the orbit of a single planet. As the players eventually settle the entire orbit, they can start finding ways to travel to the planet’s moons and someday all the way to other planets and distant star systems. The still unoccupied universe of Starbase offers players the chance to take part in the building of the galaxy and in discovering what will be the first steps in the twilight of space travel.
Early Access allows the players to design, build & modify spaceships, explore the universe, form social connections, and earn money by mining, gathering, crafting and selling resources. The players can start building their home stations and begin the expansion of the Starbase universe together with the developers.
Starbase launches into Early Access in a clear alpha stage, however the core features are well established and there's fun to be had for sure. Check out our current roadmap below:

Though the game has been abandonned, it is still in my opinion the most detailed ship building game ever. It is rough around the edges and difficult to learn, but after a while I was able to pimp my ship, add whatever elements I wanted, wire everything up, program it and fly away! Easy build is bad because it's buggy and quite limited, but ship editor and in game building are fantastic in my opinion. You must however be patient to place everything correctly, weld the beams, bolt and wire the components down, put propelant pipes, program the yolol chips, etc, which is exactly the kind of thing I really enjoy! If you are looking for action, then this is probably not the game for you. It is empty since all the players fled, and the devs abandonned the game, leaving it unfinished. I must say that progression is a pain, I wish the devs made it a bit faster. However, I would highly recommend the game if like me you want a really complete space sandbox game, good physics simulation and great ship building, which will make you feel like a real space engineer!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Honestly, it's not that this game should've had single-player and server hosting, the game NEEDED it. So many people would have been willing to play and fool around on private servers, and it would have greatly reduced all the issues with the official servers. The studio seems to be dead though, too late to make any changes now, I guess.
Abandoned and overpriced for what is available. Had a lot of promise at the time.
While it's been a while since my last venture into Starbase, my impressions linger with a mix of optimism and a tinge of disappointment. The game presents a unique scenario that many others fail to capture – the vastness of space travel. Starbase excels in offering a realistic and expansive journey through the cosmos, a feat not achieved at the same scale by most other games in the genre. However, as much as I appreciate the concept of traversing space, I can't help but acknowledge the current limitations of Starbase. The game, at its core, revolves around the experience of flying through space, a gameplay element that, if not handled with care, can lead to monotony. This is where Starbase currently falls short; the potential for boredom akin to other space-centric titles like Elite Dangerous looms large. Regrettably, at the time of my last playthrough, the game appeared to be in need of more updates and enhancements. Monitoring forums and staying tuned to community feedback indicated that, despite the game's intriguing premise, it lacked the necessary polish and content updates to keep players engaged. I haven't revisited Starbase recently, mainly because the experience seemed reminiscent of my earlier encounters. However, my optimism persists. I genuinely look forward to revisiting and potentially revising this review in the future. The developer's commitment to ongoing updates and improvements is crucial for a game like Starbase to fulfill its promises. There are undoubtedly enjoyable aspects to the game, and with the right updates, it holds the potential to evolve into an engaging and captivating spacefaring experience. In conclusion, while I can't wholeheartedly recommend Starbase in its current state due to its perceived shortcomings, I remain hopeful for its future. The game has the foundation to become something truly remarkable, and with dedicated developer support, it might one day transform into the captivating space adventure many players, including myself, aspire it to be. Keep an eye on this one, and perhaps down the road, the journey through Starbase will be an experience worth undertaking.
This game is amazing! Truly! But why am I leaving a bad review? Well, as it stands, this game hasn't seen an update in nearly a year now, and there has been a constant decline of player activity. It appears like the servers could end up going offline soon making the game a brick and unplayable. And IMOO, it DOES NOT deserve that. I recommend contacting the devs and pressuring them to release a standalone software that we can use to run our own servers. As it stands, the game it pretty dead rn, and you won't see anyone on at all hardly. (Though that means its a good time to go mining for mats and stuff as you won't see any pirates at all hardly either :P) I hope the devs don't let this game die, as its just a blast for me, but its just at a point where the lack of player interaction and lack of updates killed the game for me. Please Frozenbyte, DON'T let this gem die!!! Let the community take over PLEASE!!! I want to play again with a living breathing playerbase again.
Самая лучшая система строительства кораблей и повреждений, но создатели не смогли реализовать этот огромный потенциал
I don't think most players truly understand the level of complexity this game offer in terms of ship design, there is no other game that offers anything near it. The problem with this complexity is your required to use your brain to come up with ingenious solutions to seemingly unavailable off the shelf features, this puts a lot of players off as you can't simply buy your way around it and the learning curve is tough. Yes the game does lack some depth in terms of game play features, like most games based on complex mechanics it makes adding these features more difficult so I understand it will take a while. I'm inspired by the incredible ship designs and borderline Einstein level coding the community come up to make really amazing features on ships that can be purchased.
Now game is deeply abandoned. Servers are almost empty, and game also have no singleplayer options, so - Don't buy. Игра заброшена. Серверы почти пусты и в игре даже нет синглплеера. Не покупайте.
A great game with great execution unfortunately bungled by the worst possible launch follow-up. Instead of listening to the community about immediate issues and patching the game accordingly, the developers kept the same pre-alpha development inertia in adding new features that the vast majority of players would never see as if the game had never actually launched. It was a lot of fun at launch with a sizeable group of players which even managed a few fledgling pirate raids, but "was" is the key word. There is no point in playing it except to explore a dead world, and I doubt a "re-launch" with active development and shifted priorities could revive it. It's dead, Jim. Which is... sad. It's a truly unique game with nothing else to match it. The very scale of the orbital station presented is mindboggling, and a great way to foreshadow potential player capability. But that's where it starts and ends: player capability was limited, the game loop too awkward, the station too large for casual use, the voxel system too stilted and not fully utilized, and none of that was fixed, so it died a needless death.
Game looked good at the start but felt extremely empty. And then it was abandoned and all hope was lost... F
