About
Starbase is a massively multiplayer online game with gameplay focused on building and designing spaceships and stations, exploration, resource gathering, crafting, trading, and combat.
Set in a universe of vast scale and detail, the fully-destructible environment and hybrid voxel/vertex-based game mechanics enable simulations in Starbase at immense depth, giving players the ultimate freedom to exploit their innovativeness and creativity. From constructing spaceships that can endure the hazards of space, such as collision and corrosive damages, to creating massive automated factories and designing electricity and data networks, the players are free to do it their own way.

A single persistent Universe - Play and interact online with thousands of players and start shaping the world with your fellow robots.
Build, fight, chat and group up with other players to discover and settle the vast galaxy that is waiting for its first conquerors to make their mark.
Mine asteroids by yourself, trade and haul cargo with your friends, or build a station with a huge company.
Success in Starbase is not measured in hours played or an endless grind, but in the ingenuity of each player and their ability to work together.

The environment in Starbase is fully destructible, made possible by a mixture of voxel and fracture damage - Everything can be destroyed or disassembled with the right kind of tools and weaponry.
The in-depth physics simulation enabled by hybrid voxel/vertex-based game mechanics make fights, exploration and flying spaceships a creative paradise
The simulation of structural and elemental durability in the game adds its own twist and challenge to the efforts to conquer space; poorly designed superstructures combined with overpowered steering thrusters can snap the spaceships in half if cutting corners too much in a space race.
Note: Station destruction will be added in the September Siege Mechanics Update

Design and build your spaceship, stations and devices down to the tiniest detail, and live the spaceship designer dream by selling your blueprints.
The smallest building unit in Starbase is a single bolt, allowing you to build, repair and modify spaceships, stations, and devices as you wish.
Even the smallest ships have thousands of parts, each with their own detailed damage model, making building and designing a truly creative process.
Learning to use the in-game programming chips will take building and designing to a new level; innovation, automation of ships and creating clever ship layouts will make all the difference!

Engage in seamless FPS and spaceship combat with thousands of players simultaneously.
Fly solo or crew up with others to divide roles and responsibilities.
Creative thinking, crazy ideas and daring maneuvers can turn the tide of battles!

Explore the infinitely expanding universe, and discover stations, asteroid fields, spaceship wrecks, social hubs and fellow travelers.
Arrange an exploration mission with friends and find out what's hidden in the depths of space and the faraway moons
Beware of pirates and unknown dangers when venturing into the uncharted territories!

Mine raw minerals from asteroids and salvage different parts from broken ships, trade your salvaged goods at trading stations, or steal from others if that floats your (space)boat.
Buy, sell and trade ship parts, materials, weapons, tools, ammo, designs, and invent new ways of earning credits in a player driven economy.
Form friendships and alliances, group up with others and establish factions to build massive stations and tackle the most difficult hurdles space has to offer.

Starting station safe zones safeguard the new player experience
Dynamic safe zones configurable on player-owned stations
Starbase is developed with Frozenbyte’s internal game engine that is custom-built for conquering space, enabling the use of extremely challenging combination of voxel and vertex technologies in the game. The modern engine has been built specifically with Starbase in mind and the engine’s architecture is designed to handle all the quirks of simulation, damage, building, player amounts and the ever-growing universe to match the challenges the ambitious vision of the game can pose. Similarly, all features of the game have been developed with the infinite scale and the creative freedom of the players in mind.
Starbase has been in secret development for five years without restraints and the development will continue until the game’s bold vision is achieved. In the ever-expanding space the scale can range from the unit of one bolt to massive space station structures, with exploration missions varying from journeys to nearby asteroid fields, to salvaging ship debris, and eventually to other galaxies.
In Starbase players are given the freedom to build the kind of universe they want to, and a small group of players can eventually form large factions that challenge the powers that be. Being inventive will also help, as cleverness often triumphs over brute force in Starbase, and the only limitation is the creativity of the players.
Starbase Early Access will introduce the players, the pioneers, to a new galaxy that they can begin to explore from a bunch of huge stations located at the orbit of a single planet. As the players eventually settle the entire orbit, they can start finding ways to travel to the planet’s moons and someday all the way to other planets and distant star systems. The still unoccupied universe of Starbase offers players the chance to take part in the building of the galaxy and in discovering what will be the first steps in the twilight of space travel.
Early Access allows the players to design, build & modify spaceships, explore the universe, form social connections, and earn money by mining, gathering, crafting and selling resources. The players can start building their home stations and begin the expansion of the Starbase universe together with the developers.
Starbase launches into Early Access in a clear alpha stage, however the core features are well established and there's fun to be had for sure. Check out our current roadmap below:

Ship building is the most in-depth you've ever seen. Everything from the I-beams the frame is made up of, to control systems, power distribution, everything. Phenomenal. You can spend hours meticulously placing bolts in the right place to give the best system integrity, running redundant power infrastructure, etc etc. Perfect for a gamer like me. Then some arsehole will blow your ♥♥♥♥ up out in the black for no reason. They don't want your cargo, they don't want a challenging dogfight, they just want to ruin your day. Probably less of a problem now that the game is dead, but forcing open-world pvp mmo gameplay in what would have been a perfect small-scale co-op game is absolutely what killed it in the first place. For the Devs: Consolidate the server software into a package people can run locally, leave as much open to modding as you can, and let people revitalize this game on their own. Your vision isn't gonna do it

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

To start, this is a negative review. I'm only giving a thumbs up because I desperately want this game to succeed in the future, even though it's failing now. Starbase has the makings to be the best game ever made. What could have been a fantastic simulation of interspace territory and resource control was cut short when the developers have decided to introduce huge safezones and no actual incentives, reason or way to encounter other players in non-safe zone space. The game has some of the most amazing combat mechanics and you will literally never have an opportunity to use them. Space is huge and Starbase simulates that, meaning if you want to have another player encounter the only way to do so is by messaging someone and planning to have a dogfight somewhere. The game is entirely built for organic PVP but, in a mind boggling move, lacks any way to actually engage with it. You can fly for days in unsafe space and never see another player, as there's no way to find them in the incomprehensively massive play area. Early in the game's release there was one unique zone where PVP occurred organically. It was an area on a moon you could warp to, which turned into a naturally occurring ship graveyard as the area was littered with the husks of ships flown to the moon by inexperienced pilots unfamiliar with the gravity mechanics of the planetoid. Players would come to the graveyard to fight over valuable scrap left behind from the shipwrecks. It was an incredible example of procedural gameplay, an arena created entirely by players, a desolate ship graveyard where bandits could hige out in the hulls of the dead ships creating kill holes to snipe potential scrappers. It was the only place you could realistically find another player and have a firefight with them and it was ridiculously fun. Then the developers decided to put a giant safe zone there, squashing the last remaining place in the game where one could have dynamic non-preplanned combat encounters. The playerbase died off left with nothing to do but mine asteroids and build ships with a bunch of guns that had no use. Months later they removed the safe zone, but it was too late. Why they decided to kill off the only area where gameplay occurred baffles me completely. They've taken no steps to provide anything to do since. All this game would need to get people playing is a high tier resource area in a non safe zone which players could fight over. That's it. But the reality of the current game state is there's no reason to ever leave the safe zone. You make more money faster hitting rocks within the safe zone boundaries, there is literally no reason to ever leave it, and even if you did you wouldn't see anyone anyway, given the scale of space.
Can you open source this yet and give the players the ability to keep the game alive
Developers pls comeback i love your game

Abandoned Game, should be removed from steam. The devs have not updated nor communicated anymore updates since spring of 2023 and they have since moved on to Trine 5. Had alot of promise, till they launched. Had a robust building system that everyone liked, then they tried putting in a modular building system that broke the game completely and tried doubling down on it only causing more issues then solving. Then they tried pushing out some updates, that really didn't add too much. Save your money till they actually return to this and start pushing updates out again. Will remove this if that actually push out an actual content update. Update: (5-5-25) Okay, these devs are something else. They ghost everyone for a year. Then make a return like nothing happened, only to work on the game for less then a year before ghosting everyone again. These devs are a true joke. I get it if you are low on money and need to shift dev time away to get more funding for your game, but atleast communicate that and not just act like total scammers! At some point they should be made to pay for wasting everyone's time and money like this. It was your fault to launch such a half baked game after generating so much hype behind it only to piss on everyone for 2 years with little progress and failing roadmap, leave for a year, then show back up after a hydration refill and again do another round of pissing lower then minimulistic updates.
Just play Space Engineers.
The devs have stated they aren't going to work on this game anymore. It never left early access and this store page even says it's an Alpha build. It hasn't been updated in over 3 years so the fact it's still for sale for $35 is insane. The only reason this page is still up is to scam people who didn't do there research. DO NOT BUY.
I wish that I could recommend this game because for a short time, I followed it with great passion. It was the first space game I've played to have what feels like a FULLY customizable ship-building experience with a universe that you could then explore with your own creation. I have 160 hours in this game at the time of writing the review and pretty much 95% of that time was spent in the CAD-like builder learning the ropes and being a space engineer, and it was a blast. Unfortunately, with a lack of developer support and no community to play with, I doubt I will get any more hours and I don't recommend you do either. Fingers crossed that someone takes this idea and gives it another go, I'd love to see it become successful.
Review Title: "A Universe Worth a Lifetime – 3,664+ Hours and Still Learning" I've been playing Starbase since the earliest builds, and if there's one thing I can say with absolute certainty—this game isn’t just something you play. It’s something you live. From day one, I was mining rocks in a starter ship barely held together by bolts, dreaming of building something greater. Years later, I’ve designed fleets, built modular factories in orbit, fought in massive PvP wars, and written thousands of lines of YOLOL code to automate everything from turret control to station defenses. This game rewards the patient and the persistent. Progress doesn’t happen in hours or even days—it takes years. Each part of the game is its own intricate puzzle: designing efficient mining rigs, optimizing YOLOL scripts, managing logistics, mastering the physics of ship flight, or planning out your tech tree to unlock just the right piece you need for your next great build. Every element feeds into the next. It’s a beautifully complex ecosystem. If you're the type of player who enjoys deep systems, trial by fire, and learning by doing (and redoing), then Starbase will give back more than any other game out there. You have to watch YouTube tutorials, read the wiki (especially the section on YOLOL), and join player communities to share knowledge. But when it all clicks—when your first scripted mining ship works, or you successfully defend your station—it’s pure satisfaction. Starbase isn’t for tourists. It’s for visionaries, engineers, and tinkerers. If you want instant gratification, look elsewhere. But if you want to build your own legacy in the stars, brick by brick, circuit by circuit—this is the only game that truly lets you do that. I've put in over 3664 hours. I’m still learning, still building, and still waking up excited to log in. That says everything. — Longest-Playing Starbase Pilot, Veteran Engineer, Fleet Commander, and YOLOL Addict
