Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.

This is nice game, awesome graphic, style, atmosphere. Story, heroes, and as traditionally for SE - opportunity for awesome NG+ with new heroes, story moments etc. But my personal opinion - this is one of the most awful fight system I ever seen. Boring, you are not in huge control of the fight + evasions with 2d graphic - just a mess of pixels. If you thought FF/Chrono cross were grinding game, you never played this - it is most annoying and boring grinding + random game I seen ever. UPD. After coming to late game content, I fully understand that this game is about random only. Your skill doesn't matter. This is grind (make top level with top SP/BP easy managing), with catching "correct" passive on your weapon, armor, accessories) and that's all at the end of the day. If you catch, which is just a lot of stupid uncomfortable clicking with useles UX, you will be invincible).
So joguem

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 1: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.78/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

If you told me we actually had AI back in 1998, I'd believe you. I refuse to believe this game was written by a human being, at least not one who has ever interacted with anyone. Every scene feels like it only includes 10% of the dialogue that was supposed to be present. The combat is also incredibly unengaging. It's interesting on paper but quickly loses any and all shine as it spirals out of control. The game likes to claim to have multiple endings, it even has the audacity to say it has 99 different endings once you complete it. In reality, it has 99 scenes that are 10 seconds long, based on whatever bonds your party has formed. These are not in any way interesting or worth pursuing. The only thing this game has going for it are its beautiful visuals.
This game is great! The OG ost is better than the remastered so I recommend that option. Get the right party and youll enjoy the learning curve.
The original was one of my favorite games when it was released and played through it multiple times. Without a doubt this has set the bar for how to make a faithful remake. Keeping nearly everything that made the game great, while addressing the parts that didn't age well or were never good to begin with. There are just so many quality of life improvements. Warping to places on the map, knowing when and where to do private actions, auto defeating weak enemies, the list goes on. Even if you just kind of liked the original, this is a massive improvement that will surely make you love this one.
Nota: 9/10 ⭐
This was an absolute blast! I never managed to finish the original, always got bored, but this remake with ALOT of QoL changes, made it so much more enjoyable but still being faithful to the original. It looks fantastic too. I love how the sprites pop out of the 3D background, it almost looks like a pop-up book. Positives: - Beautiful sprite/3D combo - The new character artwork is one of the best I've seen, with the exception of Bowman, he doesn't look laidback anymore. - Easily breakable in the most fun ways. You can cook some great buffs, create some broken iems, or you can work on your pickpocketing and steal the best armor in the game from your own teammate 20% through the game, and many more ways. - A lot of replayability. There are 11 characters but only 6 free spots, some only join if you started with a different hero, some don't join if you already have someone specific, but this also means... Negatives: - The whole main story resolves only around those 2 main characters, the others mostly just say a sentence here and there once they're recruited, but there are a lot of PA events to give spotlights to those characters, and you get different events depending what character-combo you have. - The overworld has a lot of stutter, mostly when enemies pop-out. The overworld doesn't look that great compared to everything else. - The arranged soundtrack doesn't do it for me, it also sounds like it's lower in volume than the original. Luckily you can switch between the Original/Arrangement easily. Overall this is my favourite remake for quite some while and I wish we'd get more remakes of old-school rpgs looking like this.
Star Ocean The Second Story R is a remaster of the second Star Ocean game, with more beautiful graphics, rerecorded music and pretty much everything you would expect from a faithful remaster. The game looks great, the soundtrack is good and it mostly plays well. For a JRPG, it's also a bit on the shorter side - I finished it in about 23 hours, give or take. You can choose one of two characters, Claude or Rena, and try to save the universe from certain extinction by investigating a mysterious meteorite. There is not too much difference in the story based on who you choose - as far as I understand, only some cutscenes and flashbacks are different as well as one recruitable character. Of course, as in every JRPG, you will spend most of your time fighting enemies to earn money and EXP, as well as BP and SP. BP can be used to improve your characters' battle passive and active abilities. Passive abilities can trigger randomly or on certain conditions, and active abilities can be, well, actively used. Later several abilities can be linked as well. SP is used to improve specialties, which are essentially passive crafting or other useful abilities, such as Cooking, Familiar (to shop in Dungeons) or Music as well as many more. I like that system actually because it's creative and allows you to alter the gameplay in many different ways, from faster travel to battle buffs. Once the party has enough levels in certain specialties, you can even learn stronger compounding specialties, such as Crafting turning into Blacksmithing. Overall, the battle system plays very similar to the earlier Tales games, think Tales of Symphonia, with all the pros and cons this comes with. I do have some gripes with the battle system, though, because it feels very stiff. Playing as Claude, for example, you walk up into melee range to hit an enemy, and then are stuck in place while you attack. Some abilities have more range, but if an enemy is constantly moving, you will spend most of the battle running after enemies instead of attacking. Your ally AI can be customized a bit but it's also kind of stupid, often not attacking when you'd want them to, or throwing themselves headlong into attacks that could've easily been avoided. Stronger attacks also have their own cutscenes and while you can skip them, it only skips 75 % of them and the actual attack still plays, which gets very annoying for some of the later bosses and completely stops the battle momentum. Luckily, most of the game is actually rather easy (at least on medium difficulty), so most of the battles can be won just by spamming your strongest abilities and attacking enough to break the enemy, which then means they're stunned and take more damage for a bit. The battle system also has a lot of layers, even outside of battle, which helps a bit - equipment can be crafted to have factors (additional abilities for example), you can assign assault actions to have another character aid you in battle shortly by firing off one attack, there are different formations with different bonuses...etc. Still, the stiffness is annoying and it seems most of the postgame battles, such as the raid battles on the world map or the additional postgame dungeons, are really only difficult because enemies constantly move, are impossible to stun or alter your own movespeed so you can't keep up. It turns the battle system from a breeze to a slog, even on easier difficulties. Still, I can't help but like Star Ocean 2 regardless. The remaster is beautifully done, there are a lot of (more or less useful) systems you can engage with, the game has a good length and some interesting mechanics like friendship levels, 99 endings (which refers to just short cutscenes between characters, mostly depending on which characters you recruit and how high the friendship levels are), some mini games and it encourages exploration because of many hidden treasure chests or even recruitable characters you can miss out on, plus an additional challenge lists that grants you items for accomplishments. It's a good romp through the story, but I think some of the systems are needlessly obtuse and the postgame difficulty due to the battle system is a bit much. Overall, though, it's a good time and I definitely recommend Star Ocean The Second Story R for JRPG enthusiasts and lovers of good remasters.
