A perfect example of 'remakster' done righteriino beniz.
While not perfect, this is a great looking and very fun remake of a classic. Spyro looks and sounds spectacular here among a lush world of fantastic sets and enemies. The core gameplay has aged much better than, say, the first Crash Bandicoot, which makes it much easier to recommend for new players. And no AI upscaling in sight! Full disclosure: My memories of the original Playstation version came from fleeting moments of gameplay on store demo units and occasional short sessions at friends' houses, so I'm perhaps not as nostalgic for the 1998 release as some people. That said, I consider this version to be superior to the original in all the ways that matter. It baffles me that fans have compiled whiny lists of every single way in which the graphics differ from the PS1 version. Yes, they changed the colour of the sky and yes, they added texture to the grass, but it's a remake, not a port, we expect it to look different. Isn't that the point? It's my opinion that all of the style changes (With the exception of Sparx's goofy face) make for a better game that's nicer to look at. To all the people who complain that Spyro has more than 5 polygons now; go dig out the original and play it in an emulator if you can't stand 3d graphics from the 21st century. To everyone else; dig in! My only wish is that we could have one more round of bug fixes from the developers to improve some weird running/collision glitches on faster computers, or to better optimize speeds on slower ones.
