Reviews
what else is there to say? It's the best one of its subgenre and refined the formula so well that it kicked off a decade+ of similar games.

This game is actually the GOAT. Played this baby to DEATH on the Xbox 360, and it still holds up BEAUTIFULLY on Steam. If you call yourself someone who enjoys rogue-likes then you GOTTA play this. Don't care much for the sequel tho. Who needs a sequel when you got so much in one game anyway?
This is one of my favorite indie games of all time. There are no upgrades or anything to help you when you fail, you just have to get good to surpass every random obstacle the game throws at you. It's infinitely replayable thanks to the randomness of each run, yet has a high skill ceiling. I won't ever get tired of this game.
It's an okaish game to spend few hours and relax. There's something that I don't like that much about it, and that it doesn't have an actual progression and can be played infinitely until you just give up at some point or get bored, but I guess it's just a style of the roguelike platformer game. I'd rate it 7.5/10. There's other quite similar game to this that I would recommend, called SteamWorld Dig I find it better than this as it has an actual progression and even a story, and I would rate it a bit higher than this one.
I don't like platformers and this is one of my favorite games of all time. I started playing this game as a little kid feeling like a lost puppy; and right before getting the 100% mark I still had that exact feeling. This game makes me simultaneously feel like the best player ever and a complete idiot. It's hard for a game to remain fun when dying means losing all your progress, over and over, but Spelunky just scratches an itch I didn't know I had. If I rage quitted after losing a great run, it would not be long until I felt the urge to try again. Getting the 100% mark made me both the happiest person ever and sad because I lost the thrill of having to complete the next challenge this game has to throw at me If you enjoy roguelikes you're making yourself a disservice by not playing Spelunky
