About
Space Engineers is an open world sandbox game about designing, building and testing your own space machines. Construct ships, stations and planetary bases in a fully destructible environment, then explore planets and space, mine resources, survive hazards and engage in combat alone or with friends in Creative or Survival modes.
Play solo or in multiplayer, from small co-op outposts to huge community servers. Start with a simple lander, grow into a mining and industrial empire, or focus on warships and planetary fortresses – the game gives you the tools and physics, you decide what to build.
Space Engineers uses a volumetric physics engine: every block and voxel has mass, inertia and damage. Ships break apart, stations crumble and terrain can be drilled, carved and reshaped, so your engineering choices really matter.
Space Engineers is grounded in real engineering and hard science fiction, driven by realism and plausible near-future technology. Think modern space programs extrapolated into the future: realistic ships, stations, tools and systems where everything is built and simulated block by block. It’s about the machinery you build, not about magic or scripted set-pieces.

This game is incredibly rough to get into, and it disrespects the players time at every step of the way. Just booting into the game, you get a whole laundry list of DLCs and a bare bones menu that points you to a 'quick start' option. Pressing that jumps you into a game with a tutorial text box explaining the basic controls. That tutorial text box bugged out multiple times while I was playing, showing a brief tutorial before changing to a blank text box before I completed that section of the tutorial. I basically wandered around lost for hours before I gave up and tried to look help online. The SE subreddit pointed to a youtube tutorial for beginners, and while that one was helpful, it's a horrible look when the gamedevs can't be arsed to guide new players properly before releasing 19! DLCs. Even pushing past this, the game UX is awful. Searching for items from a conveyor system is terrible and requires the player to constantly either scroll up and down for a randomly ordered list of containers, or take their hands off the mouse for the search bar. The build planner for pulling resources out of storage is limited to 8 items, so when I want to build something its a slog to build it all out, then go back to the beginning and build the first 8 items and so on. Trying to figure out why an item inventory shows up in my grid but I can't interact with it is a pain in the ass and is infuriating. I'm sure there are 'better' ways to interact with the game that I'm missing as a new player, but when there are this many roadblocks to the start of this game, its just not worth continuing to learn.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

What do you mean I have to buy a DLC to build a toilet?
Wanted to play space engineers from all the cool videos and recommendations over the years, instead played "manual mining drill and Computer crash simulator". In addition, the tutorial says to do something but doesn't tell you how.
So the game is pretty good, its excellent and I'll keep playing. Due to how food is impossible to get and garentees 'prepare to die and starve for a few lives' edition, it gets a thumbs down till the day that's fixed. What's going on is plants spawn so far apart that you can't eat and find them before you die, they act more as a trophy for exploring.. which is emptier than Starfields planets no joke. (Lets not worry about that though, the crafting makes up for blank worlds by far, beating Starfield on a large margine). So plant density should at a minimum be an option in the menu. Secondly, they put the food processor at the top of the tech tree which is the first method to get food. So you have to build an algae station first which is a late game structure in all games you might play, because that's infinite food. Food processor is basically a campfire. Imagine playing 7 days to die, and the campfire is late game, the wolf meat or spider meat in this game is garenteed poison, you just die, its not a debuff. You go to 0 food, and it kills you. You need the top tech tree food processor to cook it. The algae station will kill you if you spend the entire beginning sitting at the start of where you spawned trying to craft it. You die. The youtube videos are telling you to destroy your rover, butcher it, rush an algae station but the game emphasizes keeping your constructed stuff alive and in good condition. Its a really bad game loop for food. I found the rest of it completely fun and balanced. Hydrogen, Oxygen, Power, Fuel, etc, all of the other stuff is completely my fault if I fail, but managing food early game is 'Prepare to die' or be desperate and blow up your rover or get lucky. The method is to spam respawn until the rover is descent starting you off with 10 rations of food. Seriously I'm restarting, this is bs. I will do a full 'setup all my mods and settings' for 5 minutes, wait 2 minutes to load, and check my inventory. If I don't see rations, I'll click new game again. There's no way outside of rediculous choices to make no player should at the start of the game to ensure you don't starve and die. Instead of me crossing my fingers for an unknown signal with food, or butchering my rover, or running around for iron deposit or something and cross fingers I build in time, I'd rather remake a new game 10 minutes per until the rover has 10 rations at the start. That's actually the best method for me. It's pretty rediculous, and any solution 'well you should do this rediculous solution, its what we all do' is going to be a rediculous unstreamlined option... its.. early game... Here's another rediculous option, console command in 10 rations, or find a mod. I have to fix this, but this should be fixed in the vanilla game or provide an option.
Once you download the addon that removes all of the DLC icons, you realize how little this game actually comes with. The game constantly reminds you of all the DLC content via advertisments on the main menu, pause screen, outposts and stations and landing pods that are primarily blocks that look as though they should belong in the base game but dont. Great game, fun to play with friends, but the DLC advertising is turning me off playing rather than enticing me to purchase them, or the Dev's future projects.
Does not have a new player friendly tutorial. The tutorial explains very little as to how to operate the controls and interfaces.

Absolutely ridiculous. 10 years later and still no scroll to change weapon, tab to open inventory, no tutorial, quick start is basically minecraft without any of the fun. I was an early supporter, but apparently i velieved in the game more than the developers did.
表面上是一个太空游戏,实际上是一个造船游戏。 游戏比较老,现在已经不推荐购买了。 在当年沙盒游戏还没有几个的时候,这个游戏也算是质量比较好的一批。 放在现在已经不太行了
