Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.29/day in the week to Sep 14 → 5/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Space Engineers 2 is currently a Playable Alpha In Active Development and already lets you begin building, surviving, and colonizing the Almagest System.
You arrive in the distant Almagest System on humanity’s first large-scale colonization mission. Your ship is damaged on entry, your tools are basic, and the planets below are beautiful but unforgiving. From here, everything you build is up to you.
Explore planets, moons, asteroid rings, and dense clusters. Mine resources, construct bases and starships, complete contracts, discover Datapads, trade, expand into new sectors, and push the frontier forward alone now, and later together with friends as co-op and large-scale multiplayer arrive over the course of Early Access.
Space Engineers 2 takes everything we have learned over the past 10 years and reimagines the space engineering experience with more depth, precision, and creative freedom than ever before. Powered by our new VRAGE3 engine, creation and destruction feel better than ever.
Build ships, stations, bases, and machines. Mine asteroids, reshape terrain, carve tunnels, damage structures, and experiment in a fully destructible sandbox where engineering decisions matter.
Whether you are a veteran Space Engineer or new to the series, Space Engineers 2 gives you a growing sandbox where your creativity can shine while the game continues expanding through Early Access.
Explore the next generation of construction with the 25 cm Unified Grid System. No more large-grid vs small-grid separation: blocks fit together seamlessly, making it easier to create detailed and functional builds.
Mounting point visualization, grid lines, improved controls, and more intuitive building tools help you design, adjust, and refine your creations with greater precision.
Space Engineers 2 introduces major building improvements such as Grid Undo, copy/paste, symmetry, blueprints, Projection Building, Backpack Building, Area Welding, refined CTRL controls, and improved rotation and zoom.
These tools are designed to make engineering smoother for both newcomers and experienced players, while preserving the depth and creativity that define Space Engineers.
Take your creations to new speeds with upgraded max velocity: characters up to 310 m/s and grids up to 300 m/s. Magboots and automatic jetpack activation help you stay in control while building, exploring, and moving around large constructions, platforms, ships, and asteroids.
Mechanical systems are also expanding. Rotors and Pistons are already available in the current Alpha, with wheels, hinges, warheads, and additional engineering systems planned for future updates.
We redesigned UI/UX to make building smoother and more intuitive for both newcomers and pros, giving more freedom to bring your intricate ideas to life. VRAGE3 is being optimized throughout Early Access; performance can vary by hardware, world size, and build complexity. As Early Access progresses, you’ll be able to build bigger ships, fly more of them, and enjoy epic destruction in a truly immersive ride.
The current Alpha already includes a real sandbox survival experience. Manage power, oxygen, hydrogen, and health. Mine resources, process materials, manufacture components, build production chains, complete contracts, earn credits, discover Datapads, and begin expanding colonization across the Almagest System.
These systems are playable today, but still growing. Long-term survival progression, deeper colonization, richer economy and contracts, NPCs, campaign content, co-op, multiplayer, and many additional systems will continue arriving during Early Access.
Enjoy the beauty of space, industrial designs, planetary landscapes, and destructive engineering with next-level realism. Space Engineers 2 introduces ray-traced global illumination, realistic shadows, a new skybox, tessellated voxel materials, parallax effects for armor, volumetric clouds, and many other visual improvements that bring depth and realism to every scene.
Bring your ideas to life and share your Blueprints and Worlds with the community through Steam Workshop integration. Explore a growing collection of creations from other players, find inspiration, and discover new engineering challenges.
Space Engineers 2 also supports advanced modding through the VRAGE3 Mod HUB and Mod Editor tools, giving creators more ways to shape the future of the game.
Space Engineers 2 is available now in Playable Alpha. By joining during Early Access, you can play the current version, share feedback, report issues, and help shape the game as it grows toward full release.

If you want to support Keen, get this, but at this point in development I just can't recommend it. I plan to perhaps buy it again once it is more established, but for now it doesn't have enough content and QoL to be worth it, but to each their own.
A wonderful start to a promising sequel to one of the best engineering games to exist. Dev communication and updates are constant. If you loved space engineers 1 I think getting this is worth getting for the support, and I look forward to release.

Unplayable due to nonstop and consistent driver timeouts. Nonexistent troubleshooting support. This is partly a mini review, and partly a rant about Keen's overwhelmingly bad customer support — or complete lack thereof. For the very few short minutes I can actually play the game before it crashes, I can spot a few good things compared to the prequel SE1. The new 25cm unified grid system is obviously the best selling point, followed by smaller details like the better-looking destruction effects, but I found very little else worth highlighting. The new UI looks cold and rough compared to SE1, the menu sound effects feel like a downgrade (I much prefer SE1 ones, may be subjective), and the mouse smoothing makes looking around feel weird in ships (Which I believe after checking settings that it can't be turned off, could be wrong here.). The graphical improvements don't seem worth it given the worse performance and arguably less appealing art style. The new engine also makes distant terrain look all jumbled together. Once again, could be nostalgia for SE1 speaking, could be a real critique. However; These things can be ironed out since the game is still in early access, and are practically non-issues. The real reason for the negative review is the godawful stability issues. The support from Keen Software House regarding troubleshooting has been one of the worst I have ever seen from a dev team. In fact, it's hard to even call it support when there's been practically nothing to show for it. This is especially disappointing because I loved SE1 (1000+ hours) and was super excited for the sequel. I understand that alpha means unfinished features and bugs here and there, but there's a clear difference between "rough" and "completely and 100% unplayable.". Because of this, I cannot recommend SE2 at all in its current state. In my honest opinion, you're better off playing the first game for a very long time. The game consistently crashes either immediately upon loading into a map, or just minutes later with AMD driver timeouts. I have tried every single fix out there for weeks — to the point where it felt like I was doing QA work for the developers. The troubleshooting process made it all the more frustrating, and is the reason I spared some time post a review. I started by asking for help on the Steam forums with no responses from Keen, apart from a community helper telling me to make a support ticket on their workshop website. I then made a support ticket that went unanswered for well over 2 months. After which I've joined the official discord to ask for help, where the same community helper (a moderator there) told me I should make a bug report instead of a support ticket, seeing it had no replies in 2 months. In the new bug report thread, I received only a few basic replies recommending methods I'd already tried ("Is your PC overheating? Is it a laptop or Desktop?") followed by complete radio silence. If you are having even the slightest technical issue that makes the game unplayable for you, I wish you luck in finding whatever esoteric mystical medium of communication you need to establish to get a simple answer to fix your game. My total of 2.2 hours played has been nothing but troubleshooting: trying to keep the game running without crashing, testing every menu option, different settings, driver reinstalls, and every other fix I could find. If Keen actually fixes anything, I will update my review accordingly.
To be clear, this game is in alpha and is still far behind Space Engineers 1 in terms of content. If you are looking for a complete sandbox experience on par with SE1, this is not quite there yet. However, what is in this game is already extremely promising. If they stick the landing, this game will be superior to SE1 in most- if not all- ways. The building is substantially more detailed. Likewise, destruction is also much more detailed and you can watch chunks of specific components fall off as they're damaged. The sound design has been majorly improved, particle effects look much better (especially thrusters), and the graphics and lighting overall are significantly better. There is a ton of potential here and I really hope they give this game the focus it deserves to deliver. Space Engineers 1 is easily one of my favorite games of all time- definitely my favorite sandbox game- and Space Engineers 2 has the bones to be better.
Runs great on a old laptop. Most annoying aspects of space engineers 1 have been ironed out. Still an alpha, but giving a positive review for now.
