A hidden gem
I had this game on my wishlist for a while because I had heard that it wasn't particularly good, and I was pretty disappointed by the developers previous game, We Happy Few. I finally gave in and bought South of Midnight anyway and I am glad I did! It's a straightforward, linear action-adventure game that you can complete in 10-15 hours. It's good a good (if somewhat confusing at times) storyline, a nice gimmick where the cutscenes are rendered in a faux stop-motion style, and decent action. I was particularly taken by the set pieces. It's not often you see a game take place in the american south, at least not in this way. All in all, this is a solid 7/10 and a game I would recommend buying, at least on sale.
Driven by a strong story and very good voice acting, this was overall an excellent game. Combat mechanics were a bit janky at times though I was using keyboard/mouse. Would probably be better with a controller. Music is amazing throughout. Overall, it's very well paced and fairly short (apx 15 hours) - so nice game to pick up in between bigger titles.

I love this game, honestly. It's heart-breaking and heart-felt, and the story-telling, music and voice-acting is absolutely phenomenal! I love that every chapter has its own music and mood, I love the lore and culture, I am thoroughly moved, as well as entertained. I think the combat is quite a satisfying little break, but the art, the use of different styles, the music, the story is what this game is about, and it is amazing!

great game! I hope we get a sequel
beautiful game. the art, writing and especially the music. and such a wonderful cast of little weirdos and freaks. definitely play this game.
beautiful storytelling and presentation
Tout sa pour sa ?! Bug a gogo Game play ultra répétitif. Boss de fin et une vague de mob vue et revue dans l'aventure... On me tease un perso ultra puissant pour... Rien... J'ai eu des des PDSD de bactréus dans God of war.... on et pas débile... Résumé : Kéna en moins bien... point positif car il y en a : - Très belle musique. - Disign des créature très sympa. - Chaque perso a sa gueule et se confondent pas.
Good old school PS1/PS2 combat (prince of Persia, god of war, etc.) but that is the only "bad" thing I can say about the game. The visuals were amazing and I loved the story telling aspect of the game. It did feel like to much and gave a nostalgia story telling feel I've missed.
I loved the story and the music. I had some issues while fighting, like sometimes you need to stand at an exact angle to heal and others being stuck in a camera angle not seeing what hit me. But overall, I loved this game!
