Traverse a world steeped in beauty and mystery, from overgrown city streets to magical caverns and murky bogs, each hand-crafted to test your resolve.
Scour every corner; leaving no stone unturned in your quest to discover hidden treasures, unravel lost mysteries, and claim the spoils of Vahrin for your own.

The city of Vahrin found itself overwhelmed by a swarm of the grotesque, insect-like creatures known as khraiax.
In response, many of the Free Cities, united under the banner of the Combined Order, sent their armies to confront this terrible threat.
But victory was not to be theirs, for while the khraiax stood little chance against the might of the combined forces, a far greater danger rose from beneath the city’s streets.
Vahrin’s king lies dead, along with thousands of soldiers who marched to the city’s aid. Now only its most stalwart defenders remain, desperately fighting to reclaim their beloved home.

Vahrin’s Call stands as its own complete tale, yet it forms just one part of a sweeping epic narrative that spans nations and continents.
What begins as smaller, isolated struggles becomes part of a greater saga, where every character’s trial, every kingdom’s war, and every act of courage or betrayal weaves the tapestry of the unfolding story throughout the world.

Reviews
I hate to agree with the other negative reviews but considering its price, lack of polish and supposed 1.0 release, I have to give this a thumbs down. If this game were around the $20 mark and considered Early Access, I would actually be excited for the future of a game I see a lot of potential in but as of right now, it is really rough around the edges.
Ten hours in and I'm compelled to write a review to try and shift the weights on the reviews average as this developer deserves it. Bottom line is, this game is fun. I'm not sure what's with all the negatives. Buncha crybabies who apparently need peak cinematic narrative in their game to be happy or something around here. The level design is outstanding. Combat is more than adequate. The UI is logical and easy to use. This is not a deep, complex role playing game. It's a straightforward action rpg with tons of old-school charm that utilizes a cool art style and thematically appropriate music. It manages to be fresh and new while being comfortingly familiar. The fact that seven people spent a decade to make their passion project is amazing and their passion shows in every part of the game. If I had to level one criticism at the game, it would be that sometimes the game world feels a little empty. There are really only ever npcs present to service the quests. It would be cool if the world felt more populated. But at the end of the day, the game is like a warm blanket to wrap yourself up in after a long day of slaving to the grind at work. And the game runs fine on my system. I'm playing in 1440 with the scaling turned down a little and getting mostly smooth frames. It's a big thumbs up for me, dawg.

I set a hour and 55 minute timer because i was "warned" and on alert from the reviews, even though personaly i was hyped about the game coming out. The timer went off and the only thing i did was go back to playing. The dev team didnt try and remake the wheel , they took a borrowed wheel and returned it in way better condition. its a fun game and I'm sorry i let the reviews sway me even for a minute. 2.1 hours at time because its 12am and i have w3ork in the morning or i would still be playing it. -performance- 7(artifacting and some minor visual, nothing game breaking) -combat closer to a skyrim feel but with a dodge roll. -explorations is rewarding so far like devs hide lot in all the hideyholes. im glad they put caves behind waterfalls.
I find it highly notable the vast majority of negative reviews of this game are from accounts indicating less than three hours of playtime. Many with less than one. Quite the effort to make a valid assessment of a Temu toaster perhaps, not a video game. And while I am no where near the end of the journey this game has set before me, I think I've invested enough time to provide at least some insight into whether or not this game may or may not be worth consideration for those on the fence. Vahrin's Call is NOT the style of game I'm predominantly drawn to, It's a tertiary experience game when I want something a bit different. I'm not a fan of the Unreal engine nor the bubblegum aesthetics that harken back to early Fable. I'm not a fan of arena style boss fights or outrageously overexaggerated... yeah nevermind, I already mentioned the Fable thing. The user interface is basic. I'm still fiddling with the controller settings on occasion to find that sweet spot of satisfaction, but I can fiddle with them. Oh, and it's a third person perspective only game of which I despise. That pretty much covers the negative stuff, and you think it would be enough for me to never enjoy this game, but it's not. This has thus far been a very cathartic experience of hunting down Gnomes, books, chests, and stumbling across side quests. While crafting and leveling is basic, it's also quite refreshing to just make the tools of my craft better without a bunch of fuss. I kind of feel like a rockstar that hasn't been recognized yet. You know, fifteen again, with the whole world as my oyster. and while I don't favor the graphic style, it looks pretty darn good and I can't fault it... aside from the attempted drinking of potions. MY GOD. Vahrin's Call in a nutshell is a basic free roam experience made by a small team of talented artists. The difficulty as well as a slew of other settings can be adjusted for a more personnel experience, and while menu graphics are rather dull, they function as intended. This isn't a AAA game. If that's an expectation then move along. This is more akin to small done well on an acceptable size. It is basic with all the stuff that should work actually working. It's an affordable game that won't cause buyers remorse if you actually play the game because it has its charm...and you can always opt to wait for sale pricing if that's your measure of a games value. Personally, I'm still enjoying Vahrin's Call, and that's my measure of value.
I was REALLY looking forward to this, but sadly its not all that. I have no problem with the art style/fable esque style and do believe there are some pros, but the cons outweigh them. Pros: The Art Style/Graphics: While not the best graphics it still is a very nice art style that if refined can be even more nice to look at, however it falls short in some areas with rendering as well as textures. Music: For at least my time in the game, the music was nice and helped give that fantasy vibe. Cons: Not Open World: Which is fine but for a game supposedly 10-12 years in development it seems rather short and small, which is good for some games and genres, but I was hoping Vahrin's call would have at least more to it, apparently its only 25-30 hours to 100%. Combat: Combat is very floaty and doesn't have any impact, enemies will continue to attack even at times where you have stun locked enemies before, the magic is nice but feels lack luster. I really do like this type of combat just wish they did more with it and made it feel more weighty. The lock-on is also really bad, forcing your view to be narrow and allowing other enemies to gang up on you. The World: Barely any NPC's besides quest NPC's so the world feels dead besides enemies, the only true hub you have to go back to and upgrade your gear has like, 10 NPC's that's it, makes the world feel dead. For all this time you think they could have some extra random NPC's walking around. The UI: I don't usually mind subpar UI, but not having reference for gear images/icons and a list view makes it look cheap. Bosses: Might as well call them Elites due to how quickly they die, subpar/good mechanics and arena's but doesn't matter if the fight is over in like 1-2 minutes after like 1 retry. All of these cons are made worse due to the price of $35, as others have said it should have been early access or like $15-$20. Hope they fix the issues, if not don't know how any of their next games will be, or if there will ever be any.
Played 1.5 hours and that was enough for me unfortunately. I haven't seen much of the story or other aspects of the game as a whole so these are my initial impressions. These are my main points: CHARACTER CREATION: This would have been better left out of the game as it's such a poor implementation. Many pointless sliders for facial changes, that hardly make any difference to the look of your character. A distinct lack of a good variety of hair styles - so many similar looking ones. GRAPHICAL PERFORMANCE: Many gamers hate motion blur. You HAVE to have this ON in this game, and even at the lowest setting, but it's so blurry, it just doesn't work well. The game is generally very smooth and blurry looking anyway, even without this on. Disabling motion blur makes movement of the camera an assault on your eyes. Otherwise, my pc held up well generally and just had the odd graphical stutters here and there. CONTROLS: Tried m+k first off (WASD) and there is a delay in how the character turns, for example, you want it to face a wall to jump up - often times the character wouldn't face in the direction I wanted it to and that was frustrating. Using a controller was much better. UI: Basically, the inventory is a textual list. You cannot see what items look like, just the name and the stats. Why was this considered acceptable? You don't pick items up off the ground, e.g. weapons after combat - they are just added to your inventory. You just see a UI popup in the bottom right corner of the screen, saying what it is. There is no skill tree or interesting view of skills at all - again just a textual list with sub-lists. COMBAT: Very little feedback to player when using melee weapons - swords just go straight through the enemies. Using bows is ok. Actually selecting skills on a controller is fiddly, having to press UP on D-PAD for a selection wheel to appear, select skill using right thumb stick, then LB to use the skill. Stamina is used up too quickly when dodging and parrying. Maybe that improves later in the game. SOUNDTRACK/MUSIC: The music at the start of the game is very suiting to this type of rpg - can tell a lot of work has gone into the soundtrack. Game has a very nice ambient atmosphere. OVERALL: The game doesn't feel anywhere near finished. It needs several systems re-working and a general overhaul of graphics and performance, bringing it up to a modern standard. I think it could be a good game eventually - it is quite charming, but even in it's current state, the price is far too high.
Some nice ideas in here, but it's a little unpolished for a full release at this price point. It's difficult to pin that to any one thing, just doesn't have much weight to it, and feels a bit cumbersome to play. I get that it's a small team, and kudos to them for what they've achieved, but for me personally, it doesn't feel engaging enough to keep playing (compared to other tiny-team indie releases that are much more polished). I'd be more forgiving if this was 2/3 of the price, or still in EA - but as it is, I expect more and I can't recommend
TL;DR: Vahrin's Call doesn't present itself as the next Fable or some huge Lord of the rings style RPG, and it shouldn't be judged as one. It's a game made by a small studio with talented people who clearly have a passion for the project. The environment art is beautiful and atmospheric, with a solid soundtrack that helped a lot with immersion. That being said, Vahrin's Call is an okay but ultimately mediocre game, depending on what you expect from it. The combat is clunky, enemy variety is poor, and the story doesn't offer anything special. I still finished it because I enjoyed the world and the medieval fantasy atmosphere. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3779935492
The Good
The strongest aspect of the game is easily the environment design. Most areas have their own charm and capture that medieval fantasy feeling really well, sometimes giving me strong LOTR vibes. The music and the atmosphere work very well together and complement the environments nicely. Personally, I also appreciated the fact that the game doesn't have unnecessary complexity when it comes to its mechanics. On the technical side, my experience was also quite smooth. I didn't encounter serious performance problems, major bugs, or anything else that significantly hurt my playthrough.
The Meh
The loot system leaves a lot to be desired. There are simply too many miscellaneous items scattered everywhere. After a while, I didn't even feel like constantly pressing the button to pick everything up anymore. It started feeling like a simulator where I was cleaning random garbage off the floor. I would much rather have fewer, rarer, and more valuable items that actually make exploration feel rewarding.
The Bad
Unfortunately, the game has that overall clunky feeling. The combat, enemy mechanics, enemy variety, boss design, weapons, movement, and story are all bad. Enemy variety is incredibly poor. I got sick of seeing the same Shamblers and their mutts everywhere. Even worse, the game sometimes throws too many of them into the same area, turning fights into something closer to a tedious farming simulator than an interesting encounter. The combat itself is also very clunky, especially as a melee-focused player. Hit registration can also be very inconsistent, especially during boss fights. Most bosses were far too easy. Even while playing on Dangerous difficulty, I defeated most of them on my first attempt. The story is also very basic and I did not care about the characters or what was happening. Movement and jumping could use more polish as well.
Conclusion
Vahrin's Call didn't impress me, but I also can't say that it completely disappointed me. I didn't go into the game with huge expectations, although I did expect a little more from the story and enemy variety to be honest. What I wanted was a small adventure in a medieval fantasy setting that could scratch some of that Lord of the rings itch. Buy it on sale only if you're looking for a straightforward medieval fantasy RPG with interesting environment art, a good atmosphere, and relatively simple mechanics.
Suggestions for the developers
-> Allow players to jump while drawing/firing the bow. -> Give players simple Accept/Decline dialogue choices when NPCs offer side quests. -> Make loot rarer but much more valuable and meaningful. -> Introduce more enemy variety and reduce mob density. -> A photo mode wouldn't hurt either, personally.
Scores
Gameplay & Controls: 4/10 World & Level Design: 6/10 Story & Writing: 3/10 Art Direction: 8/10 Audio & Atmosphere: 7/10 Technical Quality: 7/10 Overall: 5.5/10 Recommended on sale only if you're looking for a simple adventure and don't mind the clunkiness.
So far I'm enjoying the game, its not as bad as the negative reviews make it out to be. Its janky but if you have played games like Risen or Elex then you will get used to it. Game has a old-school/Nostalgic RPG feel, similar to RPGs from the PS2-PS3 era which we don't see as much anymore. While the NPC models aren't all that great looking, the environments look nice and have a similar aesthetic look to Kingdoms Of Amular which I loved.
