South of Midnight

До того как увидел игру в магазине, ничего о ней не знал. Посмотрел ролики, проникся историей. Даже не задумывался приобретать или нет, или ожидать какой-то приемлемой скидки, сразу купил, не жалею. Понравилась история, рисовка, музыка. Да были шероховатости в геймплее, но они были мизерные. Сейчас я закончил историю, не на 100%, возможно когда ни будь я вернусь чтобы это добить.

From the art style, music, color palette, story telling. It's the most entertained I have been from a game in a while. Combat is fun, enemies are cool, just the whole vibe is a treat.

Super fun game that is also gorgeous! While many of the mechanics are familiar to any player of action-adventure games the game feels like a breath of fresh air. There’s enough new elements to make it engaging and the world is fun to explore. Great work by the developer.

I hope you do more with these settings, I loved soundtrack, I loved the theme, I loved the lore. I wish there was more, and more in depth.

Wunderschöne Grafik und eine Message des Spiels, wo man merkt, auf was aufmerksam gemacht werden will. Schade finde ich es nur bis jetzt, (nach 5 Spielstunden) dass die Kämpfe doch eine klare Linie haben und bis auf das neue Gegner dazukommen, die Spieldynamik doch immer ähnlich bleibt. Mir macht es trotz dessen sehr viel Spaß und genieße die musikalische und humoristische Komponente im Spiel sehr.

TL;DR: South of Midgnight is a beautiful crafted game, with a good story, good characters, fantastic voice overs and an insanely good soundtrack. The graphics are also very good looking. It's a more linear type of game, where you are playing chapter to chapter and see how the story unfolds. For me personally, it felt more like an action 3D-platformer, than a action type of game. Yes, you have your fights and bosses, but it's not that big of a part of the game. Therefore it felt a bit clunky and unpolished at times. The platforming itself was okay-ish - nothing to crazy. And very light puzzle-solving. Having collectibles keeps you just enough interessted to keep exploring the world. So after all, I really enjoyed playing the game, and having the old school southern style blues music as the soundtrack might be one of the biggest sellingpoints. Maybe you shouldn't expect too much from this game (like me). With 12 - 20h worth of playtime (depending on your playsyle) it's definitly not overstaying it's welcome. Very easy to play and beat on a weekend.

Un-whitewashed black female protagonist is a plus. I personally haven't played many female protagonist games, however I love that this was my first and I wish there were more games like this. I love the stories. Love the folklore or mythology. I love that hard combat is optional. The custom setting abilities are amazing. The songs are amazing. I love that the soundtrack is included with the purchase, the purchase has premium benefits. I'm happy I decided to take a chance with this game. The ability to replay chapters is a plus. Skill tree is not too much.
