Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Sep 8 → 0.14/day in the week after.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

+ Stunning and sparsely used soundtrack used to great atmospheric effect + Good sense of exploration + Good overall writing - Ending feels rushed - The meta elements don't quite land - Unpolished difficulty veers between too easy and unfair - Saving seems almost random, with no way to do it manually; I lost significant amounts of progress by accident multiple times, simply by quitting the game - Glitches, including accidentally ending cutscenes before they were over and ones that forced me to exit the game during important story beats One of the first islands you're likely to stumble on in Soul Searching is the graveyard. There's a man there who's confused but friendly. He's not sure if you're a hallucination or not, you see. It's been so long since anyone's visited. Take the time to read the graves and you'll get a variety of messages. One says, "Here lies someone you couldn't save." One says, "Here lies a baby." I suspect Soul Searching is a game you have to be predisposed to "buying into," but it's good at making you do that. There's peace to be found in the lull of the waves and the quiet, solitary business of taking care of your needs and deciding where to go on your ship. You're beholden to no one. Your thoughts are your own. Most of your time is spent simply getting from one island to the next, during which you'll need to eat, sleep and keep yourself hydrated. There are a number of random events that can occur, some of which feel like spoilers, and some of which are quite effective. I was surprised by how moved I was the first time I went through a tense thunderstorm and emerged into dappled sunlight afterwards. Cleverly, the islands you can visit generally have a name but no other information given on the map, so you're never quite sure what you'll find when you get there. It's the kind of exploration I like most, gradually unravelling the world and assigning your own meaning to each place. The writing around each individual island is fairly sparse, but often effective, and like the rest of the game it's bolstered significantly by the excellent soundtrack. Let's return to that core gameplay of surviving on your ship, though. The main way to gather gold to pay for items and soul fragments (which are essentially mana) is by disembarking your boat and collecting them from the water. That unfortunately gets frustrating quite quickly due to how clumsy your ship's movement is (even with the upgrades you can buy that make it easier later), as well as your own agonizingly slow swimming speed. There are spells you can learn that can help ease the frustration, but casting one uses soul fragments, and given the laborious process of collecting the fragments, as well as the fact you need to pay a certain number of them to learn any new spells, it's pretty much never worth actually using a spell. Other frustrations piled up by the end of my time with Soul Searching, too. In particular, some of the random events involve having your items burned and destroyed, which for some godforsaken reason can include the bucket you use to gather water. Consequently, I died of thirst multiple times while I was too far away to actually get to any of the islands where I might replace my equipment. Worse yet, dying caused a glitch in the game where it spawned a "soul" in the location I'd died, but I could neither interact with that soul nor walk away from it without closing and reopening the game, which wasn't exactly great for immersion. I even died of thirst on the final island before I could trigger the ending cutscene, which was supposed to be a climactic emotional event. (And then said ending, which I won't spoil, turned out to be underwhelming anyways.) Overall, I'd say the bittersweet, peaceful moments of beauty I experienced, admittedly mostly towards the start of the game, made this worthwhile. Certainly that first time I experienced a thunderstorm on my little boat will stay with me. Those moments, along with the overall originality and uniqueness of the game, push this just over the line into a recommendation, despite the occasional mechanical clumsiness. TL;DR: a mixed bag of utterly wonderful atmosphere and writing interspersed with moments of dull frustration while you wrestle with the unpolished survival mechanics. Narrowly recommended.
