I recommend it, but like Sonic CD, you can't approach it like Sonic Mania and just run and explore utilizing the physics. You gotta know when to slow down and explore using the emerald powers. All the levels are fun to play....The final boss fights though.... ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Maybe some of the most tedious boss fights in gaming history. Fighting a boss for 10+ minutes just to die to an unintroduced mechanic is not enjoyable at all.

Jogo excelente, quem achou esse jogo ruim, cheirou pó ou é italiano comunista. Eu curti muito, tu vai gosta tbm, larga de frescura e joga.
As a long-time fan of the blue fur -as in, since the 90s- I really wanted to like this game, it has almost everything. Good controls, nice levels, the feels of the originals... But the bosses, oh boy, they are so poorly designed, they feel more a chore and a waste of time than an enjoyable time. Seriously, of the 10 hours of gameplay i have, 5 have been trying the last boss of a certain chara story, and the rest of bosses are similarly poor. So, as much as i would like to reccomend this, on this state I simply cannot. And with how long has been since launch, it seems this wont be fixes. Sad times.
Great game honestly the bosses are not at all as bad as I thought they would be with all these reviews. And the levels are really good the worst ones were alright and the best ones were really fun. However that final ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ boss is the worst piece of ♥♥♥♥ ive ever had the displeasure of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fighting that stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumbass takes so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long to be and the boss fight is just a stupid ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ difficulty spike out of nowhere that makes the game unfun and makes me want to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kill myself oh also do not buy this at it's original price wait for a sale. anyways good game
Right okay so I am going to start this review by saying I really do want to give a negative review for this game.. However I struggle to commit to it because I genuinely did have alot of fun, but absolutely not £60 worth of fun though.. The first half of this game is freaking amazing, the graphics are super appealing and definitely a fresh take of 2D sonic. Sonic and his friends control really really well and Sega truly nailed it. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT.................................... This game hates you. After around 4 levels this game becomes literal hell, with gimicky levels that are just annoying, enemies or spikes that you just cannot reasonably see coming due to the camera being so zoomed in... and the worst part of this game.. the freaking bosses. This goes from being a game all about speed to a game which literally becomes a waiting simulator. Unlike the classic sonic games the bosses have invincibility frames, which would not be so bad if it was more obvious when you could actually attack them.. but nope, you may even kill yourself trying to hit them since there are many bottomless pits. I am only giving this game a positive review because I truly do like the levels of this game and many things it did to stand out, but the bosses among other things really do make this game a drag sometimes. Please only pick up this game on a REALLY GOOD sale, its absolutely not worth full price!!!
If you like 2D Sonic and it's dirt cheap, feel free, but this game is not worth the time otherwise.
This game is fine enough, but definitely ain't worth the price, would reccomend buying when on a sale
There are three main reasons I can't recommend this. It's a shame, because there are a lot of moments in this game that are genuinely a ton of fun. The late-game bossfights are absolutely miserable. The difficulty spikes they give you are unprecedented even for 2D Sonic. The mechanics are underutilized. I rarely found myself using most of the Chaos Emerald power-ups. Finally, Trip's campaign does not offer much different enough for it not to be a drag to play the entire game all over again. Sonic Heroes syndrome. The icing on the cake: The soundtrack is lackluster. I'm not gonna say DON'T buy it, but also don't feel guilty if you skip this one.
The game is an okay classic sonic game if you but the implementation of the anti-piracy is so bad i cant even PLAY the game anymore thanks sega
