What a shame, such an amazing game that just flooded with moronic decisions. General gameplay is amazing, you can take in your combo an entire screen of enemies and just dribble them around. Each move has its purpose, and power level of character is extremely high (if you know what you doing). Game has nice visuals. But the longer game goes, the worse it becomes. To negate an absurd power level of player, game just floods the screen with enemies. It's good when you fight weaker enemies, but later the game throws just an absurd foes. How about a mutant who has hyper armor and can swat you out of your air combo (that keeps you safe)? Or dude who bursts into smaller enemies, who act as a projectile? A lot of times it's impossible to control a crowd just because YOU CAN'T SEE ENEMIES BEHIND OTHER ENEMIES! Imagine being unable to properly crowd control in the beat'em-up. Rotating your character is a nightmare too, most of times if you fight one side, you can't do ♥♥♥♥ on other. Oh yeah, want to camp around the edge of the screen to fight only on one side? How about getting hit FROM OUTSIDE THE SCREEN? There's grenades in this game which you can buy, buy you can't buy them at the beginning of the mission, for some reason. Imagine retrying a mission, but on the next try you are less powerful because you have less grenades. It's a shame, really. I adore this game, but it is such a mixed bag. Highs are super high, there's no other game like this, but lows are VERY low.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I want to like this game so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad. It's got almost everything. It's got good voice acting, amazing visuals, fun combat, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is this game too hard. Your burst does not refill fast enough to counteract the amount of juggling enemies will do to you. Parries are a neat way to force players to learn enemy attacks, but enemy attacks will come out so fast that it feels impossible to react to. Some attacks will STILL hit you if you parry them too, as they'll have something like an explosion added on to the main attack, which means if you parry the first hit, you're stuck in the parry animation long enough to be hit by the added explosion. Checkpoints in later levels also become kinda ridiculous, forcing you to replay a large majority of fights. REALLY cool game, but I wish there was at the least a way to choose your difficulty
It wants to be a cross between a beat 'em up and a fighting game but doesn't understand the fundamentals of either. It's filled with a lot of frustrating design decisions and misinformation. None of which makes the game feel challenging. More like untested and clunky. The in-game tooltip lying about how to do EX attacks being a prime example. You don't even get meter for parrying and can be hit out of the start-up on your burst. Which is the exact opposite of how those mechanics are supposed to work. Hard pass on Slave Zero X unless they update it (not happening lol) or you can get it cheap. Otherwise, play Fight n Rage or BlazBlue Entropy Effect if you're looking for good 2D beat 'em up action games inspired by fighting games.
One hell of a side scrolling beat em up, but plays like a single player anime fighter. Tons of people say this game is too difficult, but you really have to know how to combo well and crowd control if you want to beat it all the way through. Fatal Sync into Gold Burst into Fatal Sync gameplay loop makes you cut through mobs like butter! Really good design, art direction, and voice acting. Check it out!
This game feels really frustrating. On one hand the games presentations, art direction, and visuals are excellent. I would kill for games that have an aesthetic like this On the other hand the gameplay can feel incredibly frustrating. the core gameplay is very fun and quite enjoyable, especially early on. the combat is simple but feels deep. dodging can feel a little inconsistent as some times the dodge will only move you a slight bit back. The biggest issue with the combat is the very lacking defensive options. Normal Burst only really felt useful on basic enemies, on mini-bosses or enemies with super armor it basically just leaves you open to get grabbed or caught in massive drawn out attacks. You honestly get far more out of gold bursts, as you can use it to enter fatal sync, hit large combos on groups of enemies and quickly refill the burst gauge for another gold burst, and just repeat this for normal encounters and mini-bosses. parry is decent but can at times feel inconsistent, especially against multi-hit attacks like ones where there's an explosion after the initial hit. The Mini-bosses felt like a mixed bag, the most consistently fun mini-boss was easily the Lieutenant. The lieutenant was pretty fun to fight but was still challenging. The other mini-bosses were rather obnoxious. The lancer mini-boss will rather frequently spam her massive invincible attack, which she will use to juggle you if given you are hit by another enemy. The large hammer mini-boss has incredibly obnoxious mix of quick lunging attacks, attacks with massive hitboxes, and high damage grabs.
most of the bosses felt fine to fight, though i will bring up Enyo and her weird hitboxes. A lot of her attacks feel rather weird with how they hit. another thing would be that the slave zero fight felt a little weird with where you could hit him but it was never to severe. Atavaka is simultaneously the best and worst fight in the game. the fight is incredibly challenging in good and bad ways. Some of his attacks extend away past where they appear, this is most prevalent in the palm strike attack he has(the one with the red impact around) it extends WAY past where it appears. another i one of his grabs, i cannot recall which exactly, but it can hit from behind him and in the air.
At random points in the game it would freeze suddenly in the middle of fights. this was not consistent and quickly got frustrating. not sure if this is my PC or not. though my pc is pretty good. Ultimately, i found this game frustrating. I really wanted to like this game but i just found so much the feels obnoxious and turns me off of it.
Do NOT listen to everyone complaining about the difficulty. The challenge is part of the charm...that said it's got some meh mechanics, but overall it's a modern masterpiece. Get the game Get gud
Don't listen to the negative reviews: Is the game hard? Definitely yes, but is it unfair? Definitely not! Your character is EXTREMELY overpowered: While your counterattack is hard to time, it has NO COOLDOWN—so you can spam it without any drawbacks. The same goes for the dash. So far, I haven’t had to struggle through any levels, nor have I had to farm money for upgrades—and I don’t even play fighting games regularly. Other than that, the game has a charming style, the story is good (very anime-esque, of course), and the voice acting is phenomenal—that’s what surprised me the most. It’s not perfect, but if you come across a good discount on this game, you should definitely give it a try.
Everyone talks about the slick biopunk art style and the hype soundtrack (both of which are outstanding, to be fair), but what's not talked about enough is how unique the gameplay loop is. Like, the devs really took a big swing at translating a variety of action genres into one coherent system, and it's incredible how much of it connects. There is definitely a learning curve, especially once the game takes off the training wheels a few stages in, but the same is true of any action game that experiments with a new gameplay formula. Once you learn what the game is asking of you, and maybe spent some time in the training room after looking up some tips online (real ones know), the game really starts to click, and it feels like nothing else I've ever played. I truly hope this game did well enough to get a sequel in the works, because it would be a shame if this was the only iteration of this 2D character action/fighting game hybrid. Also, if I can succumb to franchise hype for just a second, imagine if this dev team got to remake the original 3D mech shooter with this art style. Cyberpunk fans would have an all-timer on their hands.
Slave Zero X —

I do not recommend Slave Zero X. This game has good aesthetics the bones for a great 2D Stylish Action game, but it fumbles its execution in a way that sabotages the entire experience. This is a genre that lives and dies by the gameplay, and Slave Zero X's gameplay is a clunky, frustrating, and sometimes dull mess. There are multiple aspects that work together to create a bad experience. Slave Zero X uses 6 buttons (just like a fighting game, how cute), but it desperately needed at least one more button. The thing that makes the gameplay feel so clunky are the buffer windows, and several techniques share the same input but is context-sensitive to if you're mid-attack or neutral. The buffer windows are either too lenient or too strict. Using EX attacks feel less like a deliberate action and more like button mashing, the number of time I tried to go into Fatal Sync and instead waste meter on a roman cancel is too many to count. Your defensive options are atrocious. You have three main options for avoiding damage: dodge, parry, and burst. Every one of those options have their own problems. If you dodge in any state other than perfect neutral, it will do a backdash that covers half the distance. Parry has a very tight window and won't help if you're surrounded. Defensive burst is not worth using because it's much better to use it to gain meter and it's not even completely invicible. Adding to the problem of having bad defense is that if you get hit once, you are guaranteed to lose an extra 20-50% of your health bar as every enemy spams their attacks. The thing that exacerbates this is that you are almost defenseless mid-air. You have no aerial mobility outside of a double jump that doesn't cover much vertical distance if you're not running and there is no aerial reversal in your kit. Your only decent option is burst, which as I stated previously, is not worth using. And just to put a cherry on top, performing an early wake-up puts you in a mid-air state, which leaves you almost as completely open as if you were put in hitstun. These might sound like "skill issues" and that it's something that should go away if you practice enough - and that might be true - but there's just one problem: the game's rank system doesn't encourage getting good. I have no idea what goes on behind the broken algorithm that determines your rank, but it seems like it's weighed 80% towards not taking damage and the rest on having a high combo count. The not taking damage part is a nightmare because of the aforementioned problems with defense and getting wombo'd for half your health after getting hit once, and as for the combo part? Turns out the best way to get a high combo count is spamming light attack. Once I figured that out, by the end of the game, the only moves I were using are the basic light combo, dash attack, forward heavy, and the OP secret move. Slave Zero X has committed the cardinal sin of having the most boring and safest options being the most effective ones. Is Slave Zero X a bad game? No, I've played much worse. But some words I would not use to describe this game are "polished" and "fluid". Whatever the devs cooked with this game has turned the meat of the game tough and dry, and by the time I was done swallowing it, the meat has gone cold.
