KAPITAL PUNISHMENT 22XX

So after sinking my life into A Robot Named Fight across 80+ hours over several years in broken up sessions, i decided to message Matt, the creator and he was like "check out my new game" and sent me this like a true gaming buddy! I'll be honest, ARNF really grabbed me because it expands upon Metroid, so when he asked me to try a wholly new IP and approach, I was a bit hesitant because i want to embrace the creators i respect for all they make and not just be like the industry that says "do that one good thing over and over" but the more i play Kapital Punishment 20XX, the more I like it. Arcade mode is like instant fun and with some cool upgrades, solid combat, cool partner abilities, good music with a nice pace that keeps you going as long as you can. I'd love to see some sort of online multiplayer for this mode, like playing while having a constant matchmaking going so people can just hop in and out of games at will, that would be sick! Story mode is just in its first phase and lemme tell you, 1-7 is tough but i enjoyed the plot, all the different level designs of the different parts of the prisons and the cut scenes as they definitely develop a rough-around-edges-but-unified dialog among the characters and invokes the sort of community effort we need to see more of in the world today. If you ever liked Contra, Mega Man, Rolling Thunder, Lode Runner or any fast 2D brawler/platformer, this game is definitely an expansion of those sorts but with quite a bit more of its own identity and a clear vision on exemplifying solidarity with our many IRL imprisoned friends and family who did nothing but exist in a world getting harder and harder to exist in. It's really powerful stuff with a great script and diverse cast like you'd never see in the era this game harkens back to. Also, the original title Kop Killer 20XX was badass, check this game out, for $5 you're getting a solid NES/Genesis title that feels new in all the right ways without compromising its vision and there's more content to come. A revolutionary idea, what if cyberpunk was actual punk instead of corporate fetishism? Lmao. Beat 'em up run'n'gun hybrid with some jrpg teamwork. Loud colors and louder chiptune. A bit spammy but it's fun. Movement, hitboxes, controls are fine. Story mode 1st part done now, plus arcade mode. Looking forward to the rest. Check out the devs prev game Robot named fight!

Damn, so sad to discover that this is yet another abandoned Early Access scam. Especially since it's from the Robot Named Fight dev, which is a very fine game. What a bummer.

This game immerses players in a thrilling adventure against an unjust regime. Its opening sequence quickly engages players unlike typical introductions. In what I've played, I've noticed an excellent learning curve, a mesmerizing retro aesthetic, a game pampered to the detail (only 2 developers, really?) and, ultimately, desire to keep playing, which is my goal when starting any video game. Let's go get those kops.

Beat the tutorial for this game and I'm so excited for the entirety of the game to be released. The games simple nature is matched with a brutal, yet fair, gameplay. It will take you seconds to get hooked, but hours to perfect.
