About
This is a desktop incremental idle game about Sisyphus pushing a boulder. Sisyphus will embark on his fateful, never‑ending journey of pushing the stone right on your desktop. Of course, you can also help him choose strategies to grow stronger and reach the peak of Olympus again, faster than before.
Incremental Idle
Every time Sisyphus successfully pushes the boulder to the top of the mountain, he is struck back to the foot by Zeus's thunderbolt. However, during this process he continuously accumulates Will points. You can spend Will points to upgrade his abilities, making him faster, more enduring, tougher, and quicker to recover stamina. Each successful arrival at the summit adds one Summit count, which is used to unlock powerful effects.
Desktop Companion
Sisyphus will continuously carry out his endless journey of pushing the boulder on your desktop. You can see the entire process of his every advance, exhausted rest, reaching the finish line only to be struck back by Zeus's thunderbolt, and setting off again. He will accompany you in this way on your desktop, and at the same time, you are always accompanying him. Of course, when necessary, you can also give him a little help with appropriate clicks.
Detachable Navigation Bar
If you don't want Sisyphus to stay on your desktop, you can collapse the display window. Don't worry, you can check Sisyphus's current status from the navigation bar. If you need to focus, you can also tuck the navigation bar to the side of the screen; Sisyphus won't interfere with your work.
Difficulty Selection
As the Summit count increases, Sisyphus will unlock larger boulders, more special boulder materials, and also enter more difficult paths. You can help him configure suitable combinations to achieve your goals—whether to reach the summit faster, or choose a more difficult path to gain more accumulation?
Rebirth System
After playing for a while, you can choose to rebirth Sisyphus back to the starting point, resetting all acquired attribute bonuses while also gaining extra Sparks, which can be used to permanently enhance Sisyphus's abilities. Sparks can even provide some automation options, automatically completing stat allocation, purchases, and interactions when it's inconvenient for you to operate. Though expensive, they are worth the price.
Offline Idle
When you are offline, Sisyphus will still continue his endless journey, but at a slightly lower efficiency than when you are present. When you return, you can check Sisyphus's performance during that time via the settlement screen. Similarly, when you have enough Sparks, you can also use them to improve offline efficiency, keeping Sisyphus spirited even when you're away.
Special Boulder Skins
In addition to the 7 regular boulder materials, there are also 20 hidden special boulder skins. After completing most of the game's challenges, you can use Sparks to draw them—a reward worthy of the strong.

One of the closest representations of an idle game is having Sisyphus push his boulder up a hill. There is no need for any action on your part. Sisyphus keeps going until he runs out of energy, rests for a few seconds to fully recover, and then continues. After several minutes, the exact duration is known in advance, the boulder reaches the summit and tumbles back to the beginning. Each reached summit rewards you with Will, which is used to upgrade four stats. Strength lets you push faster, Vitality increases stamina, Recovery increases the recharge rate, and Fortitude reduces stamina consumption. Each stat can be upgraded several times, with every level costing more Will, but the bonuses always increase by one unit and there are no sudden price spikes. Putting a few points into Strength is a good idea because it shortens each trip considerably, reducing runs that initially take around 10 minutes to just 2 or even 1 minute. You can also spend Will on new types of builders and mountains. Depending on your preference, you can switch to a heavier boulder and tougher mountain that generates greater rewards, or choose an easier setup that lets you reach summits faster. Everything has proficiency levels, which unlock additional perks the more you use each option. After some time and several summits, you will earn your first Spark, which is used for another set of upgrades. The amount of Will and Sparks you generate from each summit is clearly displayed, allowing you to calculate how long it will take to reach your next upgrade. Sparks are much rarer, however, and it takes several summits to earn even one. The main difference between Will and Spark upgrades is that Spark upgrades are permanent and remain with you after rebirth, which is the game's term for prestige. Rebirth becomes available after reaching a summit 25 times and resets all of your Will upgrades and boulder purchases, while keeping proficiency levels. If you want to spend Sparks on upgrades, you have to rebirth first because they cannot be purchased during an active run. Spark upgrades are divided into several categories that improve different aspects of the game and unlock new features. For example, the Body category contains several upgrades focused on stamina, while Encourage improves the efficiency of the Encourage icon that randomly appears on screen. Clicking it cuts several minutes from the time needed to push the boulder. A similar icon, Lightning, appears whenever you reach a summit, and clicking it grants additional Will. One particularly useful category is Fate, which unlocks several quality of life features. These include offline efficiency, which allows you to earn more while the game is closed, and auto purchase, which automatically buys selected upgrades, or eventually all of them once the feature has been upgraded enough. However, the more useful and powerful upgrades are locked behind various requirements. Some require you to purchase another upgrade first, reach a certain number of summits, or complete a certain number of rebirths. Others require all three. If you have the patience, everything is eventually obtainable. The game is clearly designed to be left running for weeks or even months, but that is also the point. It is a pure idle experience that does not demand your attention every few minutes. You can check in occasionally, make your upgrades, trigger a rebirth when appropriate, and then leave Sisyphus to continue his eternal climb.
Sisyphus Idle takes the ancient punishment of endlessly pushing a boulder uphill and transforms it into a surprisingly natural foundation for an incremental game. Developed and published by Lazymangamestudio, the game presents Sisyphus as a tireless worker whose repeated journeys toward the summit become the engine behind a steadily expanding progression system. The concept is deliberately simple, but the mythology works remarkably well with idle-game design: failure, repetition, and starting again are not setbacks but essential parts of becoming progressively more efficient. The central gameplay loop revolves around watching Sisyphus push his boulder upward while accumulating resources that improve future attempts. Will points can be invested in attributes affecting aspects such as movement, endurance, stamina recovery, and general efficiency. Early progress can feel modest, but incremental improvements gradually reduce the burden of each climb. This creates the familiar satisfaction of seeing previously difficult objectives become routine after enough upgrades, while new challenges take their place. Reaching the summit carries greater significance than simply completing another climb. Summit progression opens additional possibilities, including larger or differently constructed boulders and more demanding paths. These variations introduce an optimization element because the player can consider whether rapid, easier climbs are preferable to slower challenges offering better progression opportunities. It is not an intensely strategic system, but there is enough decision-making to keep the experience from becoming completely passive. Rebirth provides the major long-term progression layer. Eventually, players can sacrifice portions of their accumulated advancement and begin another cycle in exchange for Sparks. Losing immediate power initially feels counterproductive, but permanent benefits make later cycles increasingly productive. It is an especially appropriate mechanic for the theme because Sisyphus is destined to begin again anyway. The difference is that each reset under the player's guidance can leave him better prepared for the next eternity of pushing. Sparks also contribute to automation, one of the more important features for players who prefer genuine idle progression. As sufficient resources are accumulated, various repetitive interactions can become automated, including elements of purchasing and character development. Automation is not immediately handed to the player, so unlocking it feels like a meaningful improvement rather than merely a convenience setting. Eventually, the game shifts from frequent management toward supervising an increasingly efficient system. Offline progression strengthens its suitability as a background experience. Progress can continue while the game is not receiving the player's full attention, although offline efficiency is subject to its own limitations and improvements. Returning to see accumulated results is an important part of the appeal. Rather than requiring continuous active input, the design encourages brief periods of interaction followed by stretches in which Sisyphus can simply continue doing what mythology condemned him to do forever. The pixel-art presentation complements this desktop-companion philosophy. The spectacle is intentionally restrained, allowing the endlessly climbing character to remain visually readable without demanding constant attention. Watching the small figure struggle against increasingly unusual boulders has a certain comedic charm, especially because the player knows that success only means another trip back down. Collectible boulder appearances add some visual variety, including regular materials and hidden special skins that give completion-focused players another objective beyond increasing numbers. Achievement hunters also have plenty to pursue, with 100 Steam achievements providing numerous milestones alongside the primary progression systems. Steam Cloud and Family Sharing support add useful conveniences. The game additionally discloses the use of AI-generated assets, which may matter to players who consider asset-production methods when deciding whether to purchase or support a game. Steam Deck compatibility is less straightforward. The game does not currently carry an official Valve Steam Deck compatibility rating on its store listing, so it should be regarded as Unrated rather than Verified or officially Playable. Its lightweight nature suggests that performance requirements are unlikely to be the main concern, but the desktop-oriented interface and controls may not provide the same seamless handheld experience as a Deck-verified title. Players specifically buying it for Steam Deck should therefore expect that manual controller configuration, touchscreen interaction, trackpad use, or other adjustments could potentially be necessary. The primary weakness is also impossible to separate from the game's identity: repetition dominates everything. Players who require constant mechanical variety, narrative development, exploration, or skill-based challenges may quickly lose interest. Most of the satisfaction comes from improving efficiency, watching numbers rise, unlocking automation, resetting for permanent advantages, and optimizing another cycle. Even the additional boulders and paths ultimately feed back into that same structure. Within those boundaries, however, Sisyphus Idle has a strong understanding of its intended audience. Its mythology is more than superficial decoration because the eternal cycle of climbing, falling, restarting, and improving mirrors the fundamental structure of incremental games. Rebirth, automation, offline gains, collectibles, achievements, and multiple progression resources provide enough interconnected goals to make the intentionally repetitive premise more engaging than it initially appears. Sisyphus Idle succeeds best as a low-pressure companion for players who enjoy gradually constructing an increasingly efficient progression loop. It will not satisfy someone looking for a conventional action or adventure experience, but idle-game enthusiasts may appreciate how effectively its mechanics and absurd mythological premise reinforce each other. The mountain never truly disappears, but making every climb faster and more rewarding becomes its own strangely compelling objective. Rating: 7/10
