For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I keep coming back to this and increasing the AI difficulty. You leave it running while making dinner, return and you main fleet has been destroyed, but you don't know by whom
Its a great Strategy game to play by yourself or friends
It's been a while since I last played, but I saw my "perfect game" score on Steam and I thought "oh dang. I never wrote a review after finishing it." A lot has changed since the first game. The Save Minidump bug has long since been put to the past. Late game lag isn't as bad (though, that could just be me getting better PCs through the years) and its graphics improved with each release; from Trinity, to Rebellion. My only qualm is that the game's story does not extend beyond the opening cutscene. It's more just the devs setting up the pieces and saying: Have fun. And that's fine. I find - and this is gonna go a bit niche. So, bear with me - it's like the opposite to Total Annihilation Kingdoms from 1999. That game is a full story with cutsenes and taking place only on land, far in the past, this is futuristic, in space, with no real story rules. It's rather unique for an RTS, and ambitious. Creating a psudo sandbox years before it could be done right was something I think only had GTA tried at that time. The thing with GTA, is that it can hide things due to the third person perspective. Solar Empire can definutely hide details as you scroll, but it needs to keep track of all the instances. Every ship, every fighter, every little calculation. Stardock's flasgship series is very much an inspiration, as well as an aspiration. Look, I'm not here to gush and make old references. As enjoyable as it is, it can become stale with just the same few factions. The thing that I believe has kept it alive the most are the mods. This game is a modder's dream. However, said mods go out of date, and can even corrupt over time (The old Star Wars mods come to mind). Time was, you could make an advanced Space campaign of Empire At War with Galaxy Forge and watch the chaos ensue, but those mods aren't around (there may be a new one I'm not aware of). To clear the confusion of this review, I'll say that it is definitely a worthy purchase. It and Trinity. I haven't tried Rebellion II, but if it's anything like this, then it's worth a crack. The TEC are fun to play as, and annoying to fight against, thanks to their Tech tree (you know the ability I mean. Best keep your planets defended). The pirates, having traded their shields for ghostley fires are a fun side threat, especially if you send them to attack someone, or even send and ally to take them. The Advents' abilities are a bit overpowered, but still balanced enough to be beaten, and the Vasari. Well, who hasn't wanted to laser beam a planets populous to smitherines? Their voicework is both intimidating and hilarious and I can't not love it, though I could never tell if they were wearing masks, or those were their faces. The achievements are hard, but mostly fair...though that one achievement will confuse you until you just find it one day. If you want my old strat to playing this, it's this. Get all your cap ships built, as well as some defending craft, then use the rest of your unity cap for fighter spawner craft. Fighters are so unbalanced in this game. If you have enough of them, its fun to watch those little streaks slice through a star base. Also, I believe this is the first time Pirates and Neutrals get fighters too. So, you'll need them to fend them off. In conclusion: Anything bad really comes down to your taste, and your PC Specs. If you have a good PC, lag isn't too bad, though still present during large matches. If your taste is story-driven with land and space, then you won't find that here. (I would suggest Empire at War if that's your taste). Very much recommended, and it's even good to leave on in the background. Also, GalaxyForge id amazing, and setting resources to max only improve the experience. Funny little fact: I was that kid who smuggled the game (on disc) into school and snuck to my friend at lunch in exhange for some crackers.
10/10 One of the best strategy games on the market and THE best space strategy game. Even though I own this and the sequel, I still come back to this one. Three incredibly unique factions to play as and each one capable of being completely OP. Don't you dare try to build a Novalith Cannon near me TEC or we're gonna have some problems. Not to mention the mods are fire and can turn it into Star Wars/Star Trek/Stargate/etc. Such an incredible game.
One of the longest standing Solid space RTS games out there. Loads of mods for star wars, halo, star trek and more.... why ever buy another game? :P
