Honestly one of my favorite simulators ever, but there are a lot of bugs. Heartbreaking, but the devs seem to have abandoned the game (or at best, ghosted their players!), so buyer beware that stuff may never get fixed. We all might be stuck waiting for the next great airport simulator from a different developer. Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and the devs will reappear and complete their promised patches. After more than a year, I'm not optimistic.
I’ve micromanaged pixels since tycoon games came with manuals. SimAirport is still cleared for takeoff: deep systems, multi-floor chaos, and the joy of fixing a bottleneck you caused. From trash cans to taxiways, it’s brainy, chill, and addictive. 2020 or not, this runway still shines. ✈️🧠💺
Follow my curator page for smooth landings, happy pax, and classics cleared for takeoff. ✈️🗺️✨ https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42602807-Osiris-Reviews/
Last update: "Patch #1 of 2 is out now!" 11/5/2023 (33 months ago) Patch 2, ANYONE??
Game has potential, but is abandoned. UI controls are infuriating to deal with at times and the game becomes stale pretty quickly. If the price tag was 25% of what it is now the game would be passable in some ways, but as it is now, absolutely not worth it.
Abandoned game. Was fantastic but becomes unplayable in mid-late game. Unfortunately dev's did not keep to their word
Fun game that unfortunately got abandoned. Please release the last two patches.
Sadly I can't recommend the game, I did enjoy it for a bit, but after several years of early access and now several years since 1.0 release and almost a year of inactivity the game's development is basically dead, while at the same time a lot of the game still feels unpolished and there's still various bugs such as the AI breaking, buildings spawning on a different level/floor when construction of it is finished, weird design choices such as the underground fuel tanks saying they need the space above them clear during construction, so you think you'd be able to build over them, but no, so then you might as well just build normal large fuel tanks and still have the -2 level/floor space available for construction. A lot of the issues can be fixed by reloading your save which is a hassle on it's own since there's no load function in-game, you have to quit to main menu first and then you can load it up again. Sadly this isn't foolproof, one of my first airport's save files got corrupted, all the taxiways were missing on loading the save file, so I figured I'd just sell the airport and start over, but that was also impossible in that save file, clicking the button doesn't do anything. The game also randomly switches between it's rendering engine, one day it decides to load the classic textures, another day it decides to load the modern textures, whichever it feels like more at that time. It's a shame cause the game has it's charms, if it was more fleshed out and polished I could've seen myself enjoying this as much a Prison Architect, City Skylines or Rimworld, but alas, now that I'm 30~+ hours in I just feel like giving up on the game and playing one of the mentioned games instead, hell I'd even play sim city over this, the amount of issues (Clunky UI, bugs, unpolished) you run into aren't worth the bit of fun you can have imho. Especially not full price, if you really want it, then at least wait till it's on sale for like 10 dollars or lower, that pricing feels more appropriate for the condition it's in.
I am trying to play the game without mods, but there are bugs constantly that makes the game unplayable. It's been almost four years and this game is still Early Access tier. I reinstalled the game to see if they had patched it, nope, still get the same stupid bugs like last time. I would like to use mods from the workshop but the vanilla game can't even handle a small airport. My moveable walkways gets stuck in construction mode and cannot be finished or deleted. Toilets says they are not accessible even though they are. I've restarted the game every time there's a breaking bug, it fixes it for a while and then a new bug pops up and you have to restart. 50 hours of my life has been wasted on this game and I haven't been able to build any large airport with more than 2 gates before a bug appears. The devs don't even play their own game, they should notice these stupid bugs by now.
Not been captivated by a game like this for ages - little difficult to pick up at first but after a couple of hours, you'll be flying.
