About
Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a real-time stealth strategy game set in a fantastical version of the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy. A place of mystery and wonder, these islands are home to pirates, vagrants, and all manner of strange folk – but the forces of the Inquisition have set their sights on these isles you call home, and will stop at nothing to eradicate your people as they seek a powerful pirate artifact buried in the region. Recruit and lead an undead pirate crew from aboard your ghost ship to outwit your enemy, striking from the shadows with both blade and sorcery to save your people.

Take charge of an infamous pirate ship and reunite its cursed crew as you fight back against the Inquisition across the multiple islands that dot the region. With eight undead crew members waiting to be revived, you can choose who to recruit to your cause, and when – there are no wrong choices, but your crew’s composition will determine how you traverse the islands, your unique experience through the narrative campaign, and what abilities you have at your disposal at any given time.
Each of your eight shipmates is an individual armed with their own unique supernatural powers and mildly unhinged personalities – use these to your advantage in clever and creative ways to overcome obstacles and enemies. Will you bring Gaëlle and her magical cannon to launch friends over walls and chasms, or will you rely on Mr. Mercury’s ability to bypass obstacles from below? Or perhaps von Presswald can simply possess an enemy guard, use him to unlock the gates, and stand idly by as the rest of your motley crew walks in? Use these and other abilities individually and in tandem, timing their executions to orchestrate intricate maneuvers and attacks against overwhelming odds.
Mix and match your crew's abilities to find your preferred playstyle among the countless synergies that you can deploy against the Inquisition. Each person’s skills are tailored to specific archetypes built around manipulating movement, operating behind enemy lines, hiding the bodies of dispatched enemies, or being particularly capable killers. Missions will limit how many crew members you can take with you, so choose your comrades wisely based on their abilities and limitations.

The forces of the Inquisition are numerous and well-armed, easily able to overwhelm your crew in a fair fight – make use of cover, darkness, and magic to neutralize your opponents without being seen as you traverse the many islands to accomplish your objectives.
Missions span across entire islands in the Lost Caribbean, and not only can you choose the order in which you tackle those missions, but you’ll also have the choice of where to arrive ashore and depart once the deed is done. Will you prioritize safety, targeting less patrolled areas that may be more distant from your objectives? Or will you seek to make haste, arriving at and leaving from more heavily guarded parts of the island to be closer to your objective from start to finish?
The various types of enemies have different strengths and weaknesses, each warranting varied strategies – what may easily distract or defeat one foe may have no effect on another adversary. From the lowly footman to the snipers hiding on high all the way to the magically linked pairs of enemies who must be killed in tandem, your foe will always seek new ways to thwart you, pushing you towards inventive new solutions.
Keep an eye on your enemies’ movements and lines of sight as you navigate the light and shadow, and make sure no-one is watching when you make that killing blow. Your crew’s abilities can complement your surroundings, as well as open up new strategies not otherwise available. Nowhere to hide? Suledie’s magic can create cover anywhere, allowing you to get even closer for the kill, or sneak past any watchful eyes undetected. Particularly attentive guards watching a path from above? Gaëlle’s cannon can launch friends (and foes) to land onto them, knocking them out at the same time.

Your ship will be your home between missions – a place where you can engage in your crew mates’ personal stories and side-quests, and perhaps more importantly, where you can make your plans to stay a step ahead of the Inquisition.
Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew takes a non-linear approach to storytelling – you can unlock new crew members in whatever order you please, and more islands get revealed as you make progress, each harboring multiple missions featuring different rewards beyond simple victory over your enemy.
There is no one designated path forward – missions always have multiple approaches available based on the team you’ve brought with you, but with such freedom of choice, there are many factors to consider. Will you temporarily avoid a more challenging mission to chase after a simpler one and gain more experience first? This may allow you to upgrade your crew’s abilities to more powerful versions that open up new paths. Or perhaps an entirely different, not-yet-unlocked crew member would be useful instead?
The Inquisition must be stopped at all costs – assemble your crew, learn their powers, and take the fight to the enemy, one island at a time. The fate of your world, and the lives of your comrades, is at stake.

A hidden but highly polished gem! Satisfying gameplay, excellent art direction, good voice acting and very cool, unique characters. The entire setting is wonderful and the story has a cool way of working the quicksave mechanic into the narrative. A refreshing and very welcome addition to the still-too-short list of high quality pirate games!

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Kinda same as previous Mimimi games, but still good. A lot of repetition might not be for everyone. Seemed to be a bit boring at the beginning, but later it sucked me in for good. 100% steam achievements. I recommend it for people who liked Shadow Tactics and Desperados. For everyone else - better to first play Desperados 3.
"That's what we do..!" If you love pirates and fantasy from a top-down isometric perspective, where you control up to 3 characters (sometimes 8) across numerous islands and their missions, to take down enemies in specific manners (such as teleporting, luring, sniping, possessing, etc), then Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is for you. Disclaimer: it requires quite a bit of patience (30+hrs worth for main game // 60+hrs to 100% achievements) and puzzle-solving to experience due to strategizing throughout the missions, with the last mission taking over an hour to beat (at least for me), though there are difficulty modifiers in case you want a slightly more streamlined experience. World-wise, the game seems to take place in our world given by the lore of Toya (who hails from Japan) and Gaëlle (who is apparently Breton), and of course the off mention of the Caribbeans and Blackbeard as well, so it's a fantasy world mixed with a bit of reality. The story... I won't say anything regarding it, but the in-game saving system is raveled to it; the devs did an amazing job at tying them together, and the writing is some of the best writing I've ever experienced: from the story itself, to the characters, to the world-building - it's all done so good, and the voice-acting sails it. While playing throughout the game, you'll learn of your crew through their Crew Tales (little moments on the ship between missions) and their exclusive missions where you learn of their past, with some of the moments being bittersweet and even humerus.

Problems Like Ghost Rot on a Ghost Ship, Sweet Baby had their hand in the ratlines of Shadow Gambit, starting with the lead protagonist being a Jamaican/Black woman, which wouldn't be a problem, but this game was created during the height of Wokism, so... the ship is also voiced by a woman, the figurehead is voiced by a woman, the antagonist is... you guessed it, and then the 'deity' of the cult - yup... though surprisingly, the crew is equally proportionate when it comes to their sex, UNLESS you unlock Virgilio, adding another to the roster of men, but godspeed on that one... lol. The problems don't stop there though: there's 'Suleidy', who's pretty cool when it comes to skills and story, but her voice kills immersion as it sounds like a black woman that grew up in Chicago or something, which contrasts heavily against the game's world; comparing her to the other voice actors like Afia, it's a night-and-day difference. Then of course, we get some rich daddy issues by one of the characters but luckily it was done in a decent way, so I believe Mimimi had their hand in that one, though as for the other: a possible butch lesbian, who's entire exclusive missions are based around delivering a letter to her presumed female lover, while not a single one of the other crew bring up their past intimate relationships - talk about shoehorning; I have a feeling that's all Sweet Baby's 'baby'. As for gameplay problems, dead enemies are still highlighted red, which makes sense so they aren't lost against the isometric camera angles or distance, allowing the player to easily discern them so they can be hid, but they need to be a different color; moving around the map with the camera and seeing the red makes it look as if you missed an enemy, but fortunately, the player can zoom out to the world map to see if all enemies are dead in the area; changing the color of the highlight based on how they died, such as by "accidents", could fix the issue. The Antagonist is great and all but they seem to never go away, creating a repetition of doing the same thing over-and-over - sometimes literally; that got old and I was just wanting it to end, which isn't a bad thing per-se since it created a great villain, but yeah, it was drawn out in my opinion, especially on that last mission.

Bugs Toya's 'Shadow Swap' re-attacks enemies that are knocked out if they are lying in the area-of-attack. Teresa's bolt's icon seeming to stay after being picked up - happened several times. Shadow Mode ghosting from canceling moves. The last mission's second-to-last area: it seems like moving bodies into buildings with Shadow Mode doesn't load two moves, so I had to go into Shadow Mode, pick up the body, then Shadow Mode again to place it into the building. The last mission's last area: I changed my crew order and it removed one of my crew from the eight, where it apparently combined them with another, so I couldn't select them by clicking their windows or key-binding, but luckily I could multi-select outside Shadow Mode; it apparently bled into my prior saves as well, because reloading didn't fix it - a 15 minute reload. In the settings, the key-bind for Crew members goes '1, 2, 4, 5, 3, 6, 7, etc' When Pinkus possesses someone, he's highlighted red which makes him look like the enemy, ironically enough.

Nitpicks Can't multi-select while in Shadow Mode. Saving and loading hitches before resuming the game, and if you reload a save prior to the recent one, it hitches even longer, which makes it irritating after multiple times of doing it back-to-back. Pinkus 'Peruse Mind' ability is OP, at least in the respect that there is no timer, and the only weakness is range, which can be circumvented by just taking over another - maybe the indefinability could be attached to the upgrade; secondly, I think higher tiered guards should be suspicious of possessed lower tiered if acting in certain ways, i.e. rubbing shoulders with a Prognosticar. Can't load up more than one skill in Shadow Mode (other than moving bodies), meaning you have to use the one ability, then quickly go back into Shadow Mode to lock in the next - it's especially a problem when it's tight timing. Shadow Mode pathing makes the shortest path to the 'Shadow' as priority, instead of taking the path the player made the 'Shadow' walk; this ends up becoming a problem when you are trying to make intricate moves, which fails and causes the player to move incrementally with 'play/pause' instead, though it's obviously not coded to be that way, but it'd be nice if it was. When pressing backspace during Shadow Mode to cancel all skills/moves, also pulls you out of Shadow Mode. When on an island, opening Logbook should already have the island selected, instead of having to select it myself. Challenges requiring players to not climb ladders, ivies, or swim, go through doors, etc, should have an option to check that before playing the level, which would make it not possible to do those things during the mission; that, or at least tell the player that they screwed up, instead of letting them find out 30 minutes later after beating the mission - I've noticed some challenges do show failure. There needs to be a restart option that uses the same landing spot and crew, instead of taking you back to the missions intro, landing spot, and picking the crew again. After beating a mission, there should be an option to replay it, instead of going back to the Marley and having to go through all them menus again. When an object requires interaction, there shouldn't be the initial interaction then a sub-interaction if there's only one option; especially boggling choice by the devs when the interactions are within guard view-cones, where timing is of the essence. Players should be able to see statistics while currently on mission.

Tips Teresa's 'Ashen Judgement' can be used to extend the time of friendlies kills. Suleidy has a fast assassination, so prioritize her for tight timing kills within guard view-cones. Quentin's 'Treasure Rod' can yank keys from pockets. Logbook challenges don't have to be completed on the same save: you can do the challenge, then reload and keep the progress - also seemingly retroactive. You can wait on ladders by clicking on it while climbing. 'Treasure Hunt' missions at night for cleaning up badges. Shiver. Me. Timbers!
Clunky controls that sometimes are a bit buggy. Since it's all tactical that makes you die a lot. Character design not great. Voice acting sub par
If your not a fan of stealth, move on. But if you do, this is brilliant, very tactical, some very good synergy between characters abilities, I love stealth stuff but when things go tits up, I very much an "f it" person and start blasting which you cant really do on this. But executing simultaneous kills is extremely satisfying. Was really looking forward to another game from these guys but found out they went bankrupt.. sad times
I'm a big Mimimi fan and I believe Shadow Tactics and specially Desperados 3 are masterpieces. With that said, I was expecting a lot from Shadow Gambit and after finishing Desperados 3 I knew they were going to try a fantasy setting after seeing Isabelle's skills. At first, I was dissappointed. Shadow Gambit seemed much easier and the story was not as strong. But with time I came to really appreciate what they have done here. Characters are very interesting and this game is absurdly fun. It's amazing to see what you can do in missions with different combinations of characters and since there are 8 different ones and you can only bring 3, the combinations are endless. I recommend this game for any fan of Mimimi's previous games and even for newcommers as this may be the best entry to start. But please give it a few hours and try to open at least 4 characters because this is when the game really starts to shine.
Made me cringe, forgot to refund it way back when I bought it.
