Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1/day in the week to Sep 1 → 4.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Better than Doom 2016
I first played the original Serious Sam: The First Encounter over 20 years ago, long before the HD version existed. Coming back to it now was a pure nostalgia trip, and I'm happy to say that the game still holds up incredibly well. What makes Serious Sam special is its simplicity. No unnecessary mechanics, no endless tutorials, no complicated progression systems—just you, a huge arsenal of weapons, and hundreds of enemies charging at you from every direction. It's the kind of old-school FPS experience that feels refreshing even today. The HD remaster does a great job of preserving everything that made the original memorable while improving the visuals and performance. The environments look better, the enemies are more detailed, and the game runs smoothly, but it never loses the charm and spirit of the classic version. The massive battles are still exciting, the soundtrack still gets your adrenaline pumping, and the iconic enemy screams still trigger instant memories. Playing it again reminded me why this game became a legend among FPS fans. If you enjoyed the original back in the day, this HD version is absolutely worth revisiting. And if you've never played Serious Sam before, it's a fantastic opportunity to experience one of the best old-school shooters ever made. A timeless classic that proves great gameplay never gets old. 10/10 – worth every minute for both nostalgia and pure fun.
In the year of our lord 2026, there is literally no reason anyone should be playing Serious Sam if for anything other than nostalgia or morbid curiosity. Serious Sam is not an enjoyable game. It is repetitive, tedious, and very clunky. As a man that finished the game, I can tell you I didn't enjoy myself in the slightest. It doesn't offer creative gameplay or interesting scenarios, nothing to give you joy or peak genuine interest, it just gives you waves upon waves of enemies, relentlessly assaulting you. The sound of the suicide bombers will haunt my dreams, more out of anger than actual fear. The guns are droll, the maps drag on far too long, the spawn points for enemies are a joke, and the game is ugly as sin (I mean, this was from 2001 guys, HD really loses it's meaning). There are many other boomer shooters that you could buy for a quarter of the price, right now, and have a far more fulfilling experience. Play those.
Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is exactly what it promises to be: a classic old-school FPS built around fast movement, large enemy hordes and constant action. There is very little focus on narrative, progression systems or anything beyond the core objective of moving forward and surviving increasingly chaotic encounters. The gameplay follows a formula that was extremely common during its era. You explore large maps, collect weapons and fight dozens of enemies at the same time while constantly staying on the move. The game rarely asks the player to do anything beyond shooting, dodging and adapting to larger enemy waves, but that simplicity is also part of its identity. One aspect that surprised me is how the level design avoids excessive repetition. Many shooters from this period relied heavily on reusing environments and layouts, but throughout my time playing I rarely felt like I was running through the same locations over and over again. My biggest criticism is not necessarily directed at the game itself, but rather at how my own preferences have changed over the years. When I was younger, especially during the Windows XP era, I spent countless hours playing Serious Sam 2 and similar shooters. At the time, endless waves of enemies, simple objectives and pure action were enough to keep me entertained for entire afternoons. Today, after playing hundreds of games across many different genres, I find it much harder to stay invested in a gameplay loop built almost entirely around arena combat and enemy hordes. The formula still works, and I can understand why so many players continue to enjoy it, but it no longer holds my attention the way it once did. That does not make Serious Sam HD a bad game. On the contrary, it successfully delivers exactly the experience it was designed to provide. It knows what it wants to be and remains faithful to the identity that helped make the franchise popular in the first place. In the end, Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is a solid classic shooter that still captures the spirit of old-school FPS design. It may not have the same appeal for me that it had years ago, but I can still appreciate what it represents and why it earned such a strong reputation among fans of the genre.
